As summer dawns upon the Garo hills, little winged creatures come out of their hidey-holes and greet the people. Children mimic their cries calling out mai jing jing..mai jing jing..
Mai jing jing is the name given to cicadas by the A·chik community of the Garo Hills.
The reimagined version of the rhyme sung by the children is an ode to the
innocence of childhood spent in the comfort of nature. This video brings the beloved local rhyme to life through animation.
