‘Not ready to stop’: Why Frankie Dettori abandoned retirement plans

Italian jockey Frankie Dettori reveals what led to him abandoning his retirement plans to continue his racing career in the United States.
The 53-year-old jockey backflipped on his retirement plans after a good run of form in his final year of racing.
Farewelling the United Kingdom, Dettori headed overseas to the US to take up full-time riding.
“I have to live with myself and I thought I’m not ready to stop because I am still doing so well but I can’t run out with that news because it would have been foolish to say I would have carried on in England after what I said,” he told Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan.
“So I only had one option - to come here in California where I like very much and just give me a little bit extra time to get it out of my system.”
