Say what you will about the design, Masterpiece Movie Prime doesn't have false parts, nails the character with near screen accuracy, and was a fifth of the price as this thing when it came out (don't know about now, but still probably less than half).

The annoying thing is that they could’ve given him a flat back but because they gave him a voice gimmick it gave him a backpack. They could’ve done what toyworld did and gave him a talking base.

15:49 Instead of giving the animation inconsistency head or the Starscream's accessories, they should've made an updated MP-10 head sculpt.
There's a part of me that wishes Takara would go back to this and re-release him in an infinitely less expensive sort of 'basic' edition. It would be just Optimus himself, his two battle damage bits, his gun, one blast effect piece for the gun, and of course his Matrix (this one goes without saying). That's it. You could probably trim about $300 off the original price that way. Many of us don't really need the rest of it. I don't even need the energy axe bit, personally. Kinda wish Wei Jiang would Knock this bad boy Off, but last I heard, I don't think they do TF anymore.
Considering the black convoy repaint was $250 it’s safe to say that even without the accessories he’s an expensive figure to produce

It's extremely overdone. One of my favorite figures is Maketoys Cupola, and it's transformation is nearly as intricate...for the chest, and it's more an order-of-operations-for-clearance. I never feel like it's going to break (or chip like crazy, which Prime is out of the box for many customers).
There aren't tiny flaps that only exsist to barely cover giant gaps, and serve no other purpose other than to add complexity (the front fenders on Cupola actually make up the interior of the chest, and form a very sturdy core.)

Raul Pimentel Reasons why I’m sticking with MS’s Optimus. That is the version I have currently on my shelf. MP-44 looks amazing, but with that price and complex engineering similar to Megatron’s, I’m just gonna say no. (Also, I love how the front of the grill is his abs in this version. It’s like how he transforms in the cartoon.)

He’s not, but sometimes at least for me he can be a pain. It’s a long transformation too. But as far as I’m concerned it’s worth it to see such a masterpiece.

When Jobby said this review would be much more serious I thought I'd miss a lot of the over the top Jobby jokes, and that he would be going a little too serious, but I think Jobby found a good balance between comedic and actual toy review which keeps his fast paced style and personality, but is much easier to dive into for new comers and those who don't come for lore as much.

I feel your pain Jobby. I agree, they really, REALLY need to fix the backs on these figures. All I want is to purchase an INSANELY expensive figure, and have an INSANELY expensive quality.
The problem is that Takara added the voice gimmick. If it weren't for the voice gimmick, then the back would actually be made to look good.

Or better yet, just buy Transform Element's Prime mold. All he has is his ion blaster, Energon axe, Matrix of Leadership, and an adaptor for MP-10's trailer, which all adds up to 1/4 less of a price tag than this overcomplicated, overpriced hunk of plastic. And personally, I think it nails Optimus Prime's G1 animation model PERFECTLY. Zero gaps, zero backpack, zero floppy parts, *absolutely ZERO bullshit.* Second run of the figure includes an animation-accurate head, because the head preinstalled looks more like MP-10's.

You gotta appreciate the love Takara put in it because I think it's an homage to Diaclone; of how the trailer 'transforms' into various modes (Though mostly useless). Heck, even the magnetic feet of the human figures are reminiscent of the original Diaclone toys.

Funny thing I realized when Jobby suggested if we wanted to play sudoku with our wallets. If we DID decide to play sudoku with our money and consider the numbers for sudoku as dollars. It would total 405 dollars which is actually close to buying this figure… but still not enough
I watch TF review videos all the time and not once has the mighty algorithm told me about Jobby. I stumbled across his name in the recent reddit poll. So 1st Jobby video here, and the hype is real! I got some catching up to do.
Five minutes in, I'm laughing almost hard enough to choke. This is a masterpiece of a Masterpiece review, Sir Jobert.
As for the figure, I have enough patience to wait the three years or so it takes for the standalone Op to be sold by himself for $100, with a convention-exclusive paintjob of an ice cream van.

This is how they should sell it:
Display edition: Optimus, his gun and beam effect, a different head mold.
Classic edition: display edition stuff, trailer (repair station included), spike, axe.
Collectors edition: all the gadgets and accessories it originally comes with

The axe should come with the display edition.
NabilRider555 Yeah your right, but the reason I didn’t include is because most people use the rifle which is more iconic than the axe that was used in a few episodes and the the point of display edition is to get as little extra stuff as possible just to make the thing easier to maintain because with MP-44 you have to take care of the accessories that don’t store in the tray in the trailer
