I found one at a thrift store a few years ago, (black and pink Hardbody, my favorite scheme) the transmission housing is cracked on one side. The gears are fine and it drives, I drove it in the snow one year, it's a trooper.
The electronics didn't work, so I transplanted electronics from a "wrecked" Scorcher and I just use the Scorcher's remote. The Scorcher was my first 9.6V Tyco, Christmas of 93, at least part of it lives in the Fast Traxx.

Ah, the nostalgia. My brother and I started our love of the rc hobby with the Fast Traxx. We also ended up owning (breaking) the Bandit, Eliminator, and Hammer during a 3-4 year period. How did we get to own all of those different models? Well we'd bash them until something broke, then we'd return them to Walmart to trade for a different model. What? We were poor back then ;)

I've got the fluorescent green one also. Unfortunately it has a common problem for these vehicles. The transmission housing is cracked on both sides right where the Tapered part of the housing meets the transmission case. It would be really cool if you designed a 3d printed transmission case/axle assembly for shapeways.

About compatibility with Bandit bodies - it depends.
1st gen Bandits - pre-date the FT and do NOT have the FT rear body mounts or the LED hole in the bed.
2nd gen - Direct swap. Rear FT mounts go unused on the Bandit but they're there. The LED bed hole is also there and simply covered with a plastic sticker that can be punched out from the bottom. (It can take substantial force but it's just a sticker).
3rd gens - Also have the rear FT mounts which go unused but the LED hole is molded shut. Its location is however marked and would mount directly if the hole was drilled out.
    Hope this helps!

Super fast traxx is 1/10th scale, and I good bit bigger and faster. The transmission is far more robust, no stripping the high/low gear. Being bigger it wasn’t as peppy off the line as the 9.6v, but that probably helped save its gears from stripping too I have a picture of you want to see a size difference

new bright makes an rc similar to this now. it definitely looks cheap and won't have that nice quality feel, but aside from ever so slightly less top speed, it looks pretty similar performance wise. might even be able to fit a Fast Traxx body on it so you don't have to be so worried about breaking it. Mr.Random Reviews made a video about it if you wanna take a look czcams.com/video/Ve1QBnzT2tI/video.html

  • @christopherdeguzman1137

I remember I had a Tyco turbo hopper and what I noticed with the tyco turbo hopper and the other RC’s after it, the 49mhz variant of each model had the turbo feature. The 27mhz on the other hand didn’t. Why was that I don’t know why Tyco didn’t add the turbo to the 27mhz version. So I’m sure if you had the 49mhz version of the fast traxx I’m sure it will have the turbo feature. My friend had the 27mhz of the turbo hopper also the turbo aero hopper and it didn’t have the turbo feature. So technically, the 49mhz version was faster. I know the 49mhz version of the turbo hopper and the turbo aero hopper was faster. My friends had both the 27mhz and 49mhz and the 49mhz was faster. My 49mhz turbo hopper was faster than my friends 27mhz red turbo hopper.😂

    • @PabloGonzalez-hv3td

I have both Fast Traxxes and neither have the separate turbo function. Well technically they ONLY have the turbo feature as the vehicles without conventional steering and the boats are always in turbo.

Dude? Why is nobody explaining anywhere what everything means?
When you are new to the hobby you got no clue what "9 turns or 16 turns" means..
And I don't even know if I can use an old vintage motor and how i make sure the gear on the motor fits to my gear box? And how I find out how to fit it?
Especially when going from a 380 to 540 motor....
So when buying and restoring an old vintage car and trying to fit a new motor, you got nobody on youtube explaining all this stuff. At least I have not found anyone!
What size of Servo do you need? How many kg does it need to pull?
So I don't know WHAT to buy? You are not making me any wiser!
All you talk about is how good a motor runs etc. But you never explain how you fit it and how you found the right gear for it and about the technical specs and what it means?
So how do you expect new people in the hobby when nobody explains them "how to do"?
You think everyone is an expert on RC-cars and Electrical components and Gears and know exactly what you mean?
HOW do you find all these parts? How do you decide? and WHERE do you find information on it?

    • @RC-ty5ym
      @RC-ty5ym Před 3 lety

Google answers the question about turns,
Almost every rc car ever made in 10th scale uses Standart size Servo,
Every Tamiya equipped with the 380 adapter plate can use a 540 (Grasshopper for example)
Information can be found on the internet
