That turned out nice! I used to do the “safety squint” until I had to get a piece of metal taken out of my cornea. I try to remember my glasses nowadays.
That's a great looking knife! I have several that are the same profile and I love them! In the past, I've used yellow mustard to patina 1075 & 1095 tool steel. It works well and depending on how you apply the mustard, you can make it have a camo look, a swirled look, tiger striped, etc or you can cover the whole blade and it'll all turn dark like you did with the vinegar/water solution. Just put it on the blade and let it sit. The longer it sits, the darker it gets. Maybe give it a try in the future and see how you like it.
Hey Justin! Sorry to hear that your recovery efforts have not been successful... yet. This is the risk that is run when the item is actually being USED on a daily basis. It looks like the new one will more than fill the need for the time being! I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one that "Stuff happens" to... the older I get. If I get any more senile, I swear that I will be able to plan my own surprise party! Hang in there!
Justin……what happened with the knife you dropped in the drink.?? I know you got it later, but it was rusted up a bit. You need to let us know what you did with it. We’re all sitting on the edge of our seats!! Great videos!! Watch them every day!
Moma knows best . I too got some metal in my eye welding and grinding and was lucky I didn't loose my eye . Had to have surgery . I'm stubborn but I try to wear some protection. That is a nice looking knife. Have ya tried to see if the metal will make a spark on a rod.
Get you some Brownells plum brown solution, used to brown black powder rifle barrels. Degrease your blade, heat it up with a torch, and apply the solution with clean cotton balls, you’ll get a nice deep brown finish.

Bodock is what is on the patch knives i have people buying . We done that to much already its time to experiment with different stuff. Go back and watch some of the other knife videos and you will see plenty osage
Ich hab für mein Opinel Senf genommen,macht schöne Patina...und man kann mit m Wattestäbchen sogar Muster oder Schriftzuege machen...und, die Patina lässt sich natürlich auch wieder wegpolieren und geändert werden.... perfekt 🙂

Most saw blades you can but what id do is cut a peice and sharpen it and dont let it change color when grinding on it and whittle with it and see if it holds an edge or not. I made a knife with this and toted it and i was happy with it. Now its not gonna hold an edge as well as forged spring steel but for a man that dont mind sharpening a knife along it is good

Yea it used to be $62.73 to get metal out but daddy said this trip was $84 so i started wearing mine lol

It will a ferro rod but not off flint unless i heat it and quench it

Ive seen it on guns but wasnt really a fan of it .

Use plain old Osage for your wood, is hard and pretty .

You can put steel wool and let It soak you can use as wood stain
