    The maui 44's have 4 high emitters, really strong ones, then 12-13 mid range in the column. I recommend the Curve 500 TS's if you want a more traditional looking portable speaker setup with similar sonic qualities of the Maui line.
    The electronics in many of LD's speakers practically eliminate any and all distortion from the signal, the maui 44 that I use I can have input signal in the red and speaker at full volume with little or no discernable clipping/distortion. They really do a great job.

    Man, I was looking for this review all over the CZcams and finally you did it. I am right now RCF J8 lover and I am planning to get these white one G3 soon. the issue was to know if they are capable to cover up 300 Plus people. and I just saw that and its looks amazing to me. Maui 44 G2 is the best but heavy. and I have a question does these compete with 15'' Standard 2-way speakers with 18'' Subwoofer, my mostly work is not wedding but Live events where mostly speeches and at the end some kind of music band live performance. I am thinking to get the Mackie SRM215 with 18'' Sub but that setup too bulky. What do you think about?

    • @AaronStrawn
      @AaronStrawn  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Thanks for stopping by! Ok- so I would say sound wise and crowd wise they are similar if not a bit better than the J8s. They do not compare to a 15" top and 18" sub. That system might suit you better. When I say 300, I mean mostly for speeches. When the dance starts, there is usually about 20-30% of the crowd on the floor and these can handle that. For a live band, I would either do the traditional tops/subs or the Maui 44 G2s. Those have a 15" sub and I've heard great things about them

    • @nexttvc
      @nexttvc Před 11 měsíci

      @@AaronStrawn Thank you. So I will keep my J8 and Invest on separate 15+18 setup for Live Band kind of stuff. I am not a DJ so My work mostly events where speeches and then at the end music. I know that live band kind of setup bands ask to much stuff and I am not going in that business. you said they are same like J8. means I keep my RCF. I love the look and portability of LD 28 G3.

    Amazing you did a 300 person wedding with these in a room of that size. I would have been reluctant. The sound and acoustics in that room sounded well projected in the video. Waiting for my Maui 28s to arrive. One question do you connect directly from your controller or do you use a mixer or any external DSP processing unit? I’m planning to use a mixer, and an external processing unit for equalization since they do not have equalization.

    Install those BNC jacks on the side of your booth - it'll look so much cleaner and won't take any console top real estate. That's what I did for mine and it's been AWESOME.
    Also, simply spray painting the half waves white fixes the awkward look.

    • @AaronStrawn
      @AaronStrawn  Před 11 měsíci

      Did you just drill holes in the sides to do this? Not a bad idea. I love the spray painting them white tip!

    • @MBrulla
      @MBrulla Před 11 měsíci

      @@AaronStrawn Yeah dude. I just drilled holes (I'll check the exact size, but they weren't big) and now they just extend up on the sides. No obstructions and no worries. Hardest part was making sure they were symmetrical on both sides.
      Then I run the BNC cables together into a basic (non-powered) combiner, then a single to each jack. Easy peasy fat ass squeezy.
      Happy to help, man!
      OH! Seal the paint with a laquer or something else to prevent it from coming off. Not a big deal to respray, but it's annoying to need to. Poly coat or whatever. You could probably plasti-dip them, too.

    Hey Aaron - Andy, new subscriber here in Maryland but since I've been shopping for a new column PA, your videos have been super helpful so thanks. Solo acoustic guitar, vocals here so a bit of a different application than DJ - typcially small to medium rooms and larger outdoor wineries are my main gigs where people are listening/talking vs. dancing. I've had one of those OG Bose L1s with the big ass horseshoe base and 2 subs for almost 20 years but looking for something new - love the EV mixers included with the 30m and I wish the Maui 28s had that option. You mentioned in another video using an S1 pro as an extension speaker. Can that be accomplished with the Bluetooth connection on either the EV30m or the Mauis? Thanks again - great work! -A

I would like to know if when using the Bluetooth function can you link both speakers via Bluetooth wirelessly or is it a case of blue toothing one side and then system linking via a cable to the other side ???? It may take a while but something is going to crap out could be a capacitor or something because in the amp area it's getting hot. If I where you ans this is setting I did with my setup is bring a small sub either a 12 or 15 and test it out at home at first and see how much headroom you have before your limit light comes on. I typically run the 18 subs and 15 tops but after watching your videos, decided to try out the Maui 28’s…first gig was a small venue but for some reason the room sucked up any and all bass. I was lucky to have brought an extra sub because it was definitely needed. The next two outings went fairly well but just having a hard time getting used to the lack of output. Additionally, they smell like hot electrical after each event so unless that’s part of the break in period, I think I’m probably running them too hard. I’m likely going to return them which sucks because they are sexy and so much easier to tote than the 110 lbs subs and 60 lbs tops.

    We have 4 of the Maui 28 G3's (2 sets) and I love the sound and the bass has been Soooooo enhanced... BUT.. what is up with the limiter light. Anything above cocktail level and it starts blinking, When you get to dance program volume it is on more than off. I returned one but the replacement does the same thing. In 40+ years as a DJ, I have never had a speaker where when playing at normal level the limiter light is on.. and that includes the G2's. I had a mix of a g2 and g3 while waiting for replacement. G2 playing fine with great full range sound and 8 ft away the G3 is at lower volume (because of the limiter light freaking me out) with the limiter light on like 75% of the time. G2 never peaked once.??? That light is supposed to be your guard and notice to dial it back.. If blinking more than off, to me that is a problem as I can not tell if there is really a problem?

    • @AaronStrawn
      @AaronStrawn  Před 11 měsíci +1

      It's hella frustrating to have expensive DJ speakers that seem to really peak at low SPLs, especially when they are advertised to hit in the high 128s. From what I've read and done, seeing the limit blink is ok. Mine never stays solid. If a certain song is keeping it solid longer, I will pull the gain back a bit on my controller. I do a walk-a-round the dance floor every hour or so to get the vibe and sometimes I feel like it could come down too. In all reality bro, when I see a packed dance floor and people having a great time, that's all I care about. Mobile DJs have that challenge of providing big sound but also be portable. So far so good with these

Like I said , I am like 12 or 13 years with these things from the original to g2 to now G3. The older models if it peaked you turn down the sub or dial back your bass on your board. now if it peaks you are dialing back your mids. This speaker is crazy nice bass for a 12". I tested them beside my partner's EV Evolve E50's and I think the G3 is better.

    The 44 G2's will blow you away, LOL heavy but worth it if you want that night club sound at your weddings

      44G2’s are great. Such a quick setup and elegant look (Bought them Jan 2022). Just wish they were 10% louder. I just need more volume even if the crowd count isn’t huge. Luckily I just bring out my RCF nxl24’s over 8004 subs. I replaced the 44g2s with RCF tt515 over tt15subs but thought the tops were harsh when pushed and sent the whole setup back to the dealer. Back to the 44g2 as my smaller setup.

    Great video. I love how real you are. I'm a single op as well and purchased the JbL Eon 1 Mk 2 based on your review. Absolutly love it for my wedding and background system. With regards to the L shaped room, maybe set up your wedding system near the head table for speeches only? If possible, run a long XLR to that speaker for music and your announcements. Or get one of those wireless things. Also, Try raising your camera aperture to a higher number so your background doesn't go in and out of focus. Unless it's my bandwidth.

    • @AaronStrawn
      @AaronStrawn  Před 11 měsíci

      That is THE question. Here's a sh*tty answer...it's subjective. For me....yes they are better for sound and bass. I really like them

    • @lucabertolaso2167
      @lucabertolaso2167 Před 11 měsíci +1

      @@AaronStrawn neither are impressive loud. If you consider the weight and the price this maui 28 isn't the evox j8 killer...
      The main problem is the fixed column,if 10 people stands in front of the speker you will loose a lot of output. The evox is cheaper and 35% lighter.
      With 34 kg you can get db technologies es1203, dual 12 " in semi horn loaded wood cabinet, 3 channel amplifier so you can split the tops in 2 part and set the onboard mixer dsp to play in dual mono or stereo output.
      It has also digital steering.. 1450 euro

    The majority of these system are really good but 300 people is pushing it. I have ran several events with the evolve 50 I won’t do in event no more than 100 people and I run a sub in the back to give it the extra punch it needs. Those system ones you start throwing body’s at them they start getting fatigued really quick if you don’t run them with a sub.
