Hey pilots! Tricker here and I want to welcome you to my channel on combat aviation. I’m a real world pilot in the Airbus 319/320/321 series and I enjoy DCS World, Falcon BMS, Falcon 4.0, IL-2 Sturmovik, X-plane 11, and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020.
If you want to fly WWII aircraft over Normandy and the English Channel, then DCS World WWII is for you and they have plenty of aircraft to choose from such as the BF-109, FW-190, Spitfire, P-47 Thunderbolt, and P-51 Mustang. If you enjoy modern aerial combat then you want to focus more on DCS World products such as the F-16, A-10C Warthog, AH-64D Apache, F-15, F-14, JF-17, SU-27, Mirage, Mig-29, F-18 Hornet, Mi-8, Mi-24 Hind, Uh-1 Huey, Ka-50, F-5, Mig-21, AV-8b Harrier, and the F-4 Phantom. Some of the mods that are out there for DCS World are the F-22 Raptor, SU-57, A-4 Skyhawk, Rafale, and Gripen.
I enjoy other games such as Total War, Battlefield, War Thunder, Escape from Tarkov, as well as Squad.

Ah yes, my daily brain massage
🤣🤣
Watching this really made me appreciate car keys
To start the engines its 2 buttons really.. the rest is just aid and to fight
A close buddy of mine is an f18 pilot he drives a tesla , I guess I see why
Great comment😁👌
he would enjoy the noise too, Quiet drive and a really bloody loud flight.@@tallymeban-anas
in modern cars at least its that simple, in the older ones, even just ones with carburetors, BOY youre in for a rough start in the cold

Pilots doing all of that in an emergency scramble is so impressive ngl
Would love to see one for the Huey, these guides are quick and to the point and I feel like I learn more than watching a 10 minute tutorial lmao
Yessss I always just auto start the Huey. I’d love one for the UH-60L Blackhawk too! My attention span is too short to learn from a long video 😂
@@d_kortman
The huey is like 10 steps? Are you a gold fish?
@@MyKillerson I just never learned. Hopped in just to fly and never cared to learn 🤷🏻♂️
@@MyKillerson I actually LEARNED the Apache though. It’s super easy
@@ceciliacole5098yes, you can? you can move the time-line at the bottom at screen
Ok got it. Let's go, LEROY JENKIIIIIINNNNNNS!
Man, that's one of the OG memes.
He said, after the part of the video where he turns on the right engine and he thought “Meh, I can figure it out from here.” 😂
@@EveningOfficer this makes it funnier... oh well at least he has chicken.
Lmaooo
I have never played DCS but this is brain candy
😂😂😂 this is why anyone Can play with..but DCS is not a game.. it's a sim.. that's means a Real tutorial in every aspect 🎉❤
I just started DCS...this is 1000000% a game you dedicate alot of time to. Single plane....like I got 10 hours just working on learning the basic controls.
Nice, now I just need to find a F/A 18
You don't have one? Wow. I mean. I don't know what to say.
Maverick must’ve stole his fast as hell
Just a reminder, Maverick stole a F-14 Tomcat, not a F/A-18C
When I realize, yes he actually did. Forgor
@@kevinlofgren4824he didnt, he stole a super hornet (i cant tell if its E or F) not the C
@@EECAIe
@@kevinlofgren4824He also "stole" the Fa18 that he used for training when he proved that the canyon run was possible.
Don’t forget to remove blink from HUD in menu and set distance to 100nm. Then don’t forget to setup program 1 and 5 on dispensers so you aren’t wasting chat and flares. I use program 1 for 1 flare x10 every .50 interval and program 5 as 1 chaff x5 at .50 interval. You’re welcome. Also reason you remove blink is you can lock targets with HMD through the floor or body of your airplane ;)
Radar goes to STBY once you are out of the ramp area. This way you aren't blasting ground crews with radiation. Source is a F/A-18 Instructor at NAS Lemoore
Hmm I'm not disagreeing that it's like this but I read somewhere that radar won't blast while weight on wheels in the 18 even on operate. Might be just standard safety thing for all planes to follow
Also off when you are in the air refueling
@@De_Geit I believe it goes to standby when doing a/a refueling, not off. I'll look at the natops
Or just hit windows home and it’ll startup for you
-operatordrewski 😂
Amybody down to go for a ride..? I know how to turn an F18 on💪
I learned this by heart when I first got the game only to learn days later you can skip a lot of this with two key presses lol. But I still done it this way sometimes just to do it more realistically.
Yup you can save yourself a lot of time by just pressing Rshift + Home and Rshift + L but do I do it? NO! I always do the full startup, its part of the immersion
I shave off a lot of time doing it manually. Very helpful in Scrambles
Hey Tricker, you might want to clarify that when turning on datalink, the first push of the button only brings up Link 4 and a second push of the DL button is needed to bring up Link 16 and subsequently turn it on.
Someone might inadvertently turn on only Link 4 and they’re left without situational awareness.
Thanks Augie, will definitely do that!
Never in my life have I seen another with this pfp
Thank you now i can sucessfully steal an f16 smh😂
That one photographic memory person could fly any plane watching this dudes content
man really started to struggle with the 60 second timer at the end there lmao.
Man, I was wondering will you make it in 60!... 😁😎👍🏻👏🏻💪🏻🍻🍻🍻🍻
Haha it was tough, had to squeeze thru the HMD alignment to make it
@@TrickerDCS Well done, man! Keep 'em coming! 👍🏻
Seems simple 😂
Its actually easy just gotta remember it not hard tho
@@KarmaNagitashe you can also press win + home for the auto startup
@@Tingleton11really? Does it work?
@@alexmaine2922 Yeah
This was one of my first full fidelity aircraft. You are the best for these startup tutorials. I have this startup memorized so well now. 320 hours in DCS later lol
Pov: you have a pagani
I'm fascinated by how much overlap there is in starting the F/A-18 Hornet with starting the F-14 Tomcat.
I love this kind of tutorial, no useless stuff just what we need
I would love if car start-up was like this. Hundred of books and start-up guides.
Do you choose violence like I do and send both throttles to idle before starting engines?
My Dad actually worked on a few F/A-18Cs aboard the USS Midway. No wonder I could put folks to sleep foaming about the Navy's aircraft.
This is the best tutorial ever! Now my jet is working
So, I guess a key FOB is out of play?
You know, cabin temp, heated seat & auto in/out config, present cabin latch, etc. - oh, and engine startup & status. 😉
This ain't no SAAB.
you just increased my appreciation of the F16 by %100
Even though I don’t have this game I still love this guys videos
This sim is absolutely amazing.
Saving this for when I need it.
Thanks for the video 👍🏻
Sick startup video !! That’s what I call a Mach startup
Dang, planes are complicated 😵💫
This is just the gamer level introduction to operating the F18. The real life pilots have to learn a wholeee lot more.
@@Kraken9911 You don't say
Yeah, I spent 100 hours learning startup and basic radar tracking, I wanted to try fighting others in a PvP environment, only to be shot down by a SA6. That's the day I started researching the AGM88 HARM anti radiation missile. Definitely a learning curb.
Thanks for letting me start a f18 whith like the entire airforce it actually started which is the fun part

Wait wut? That explains so much...
How the hell was I able to manage to memorise the A10c || start up but half of this lost me
Thanks for these @TrickerDCS
Sweet, I got it. Thanks for teaching me how to fly a f18.
its cool seeing my muscle memory in a video haha well done sir
Seems easier and more straightforward. I guess Boeing heard F-14 aircrew frustration (from maintenance and supply to pilots) and built the Hornet series.
Thank you!!!
looks sick! i am about to buy head tracking, and a full on HOTAS setup!
I can only imagine the amount of classified military Documents that will be leaked on this games forums.
They're quite strict about that
Thank you
...just need one now.
Dam!! Just dam. I can't say exactly what is or isn't missing but this is good
He forgot to turn bleed air on. Not gonna be a problem in game as far as I know but it could make the pilot run out of oxygen on long missions. Also a lot of these steps arent so simple and require more actions to be done
@@andrealves2630 Iirc it's already on if you don't do the engine warning tests which he didn't
And don't forget to set the trimbulator to middle position.
Need to download this
I'm happy to just turn the key to the right.
You don't even have to hold it anymore. The computer takes care of everything.
Close to the real procedure. Only minor changes needed.
Spill it...
Are there steps missing or is it rather the order in which things were done ?
@@laszlokiss483 Steps.
@@laszlokiss483 This is the correct start up procedure. These modules cost upwards of a million dollars to make due to the expertise and resources it takes to develop.
Yeah that was legit, Don’t have to bother with the radar if not using it but basically need battery on, start apu, start right engine for back up emer systems/ recharge apu pressures, reset fcs, left engine start. All thats needed to start for maintenance turns
I bought it at an auction for a very reasonable price, but it did not come with a manual and I was wondering what to do with it. This is going to cut my commute time down to 1/8th.
Love it
I'ma need one of these for the f15e when it comes out cause if it's anything like this it's gonna take me 2 weeks just to get past the damn startup
The max fidelity modules are gonna be this complex untill f35 is here with Huge ass screen as UFC XD
I'm beginning to wonder if all the flight simulators I played as a kid were 100% accurate....
Thank you
I'm going to stick to the sim battles in war thunder lol, but I like these videos.
I've got a question. I downloaded dcs last week but I can't figure out how I can manually operate an aircraft. I can do pretty much everything with the keybinds but the manual switching is much more satisfying
now thats a startup guide
No more wasting time
Time to fly
I've done this twice...
Its taken me like an hour each time
DSC is my childhood dream come true❤❤❤
Super 👍
Turn left engine on first then set up DDIs and bleed air rotation before right engine start. Got this tip from a buddy who is a rhino driver.
I’m about to live inside this video for the next couple of days…
Before you test the fcs you should put the flaps to auto and then when you want to take off bring back to half
And i have a question , why you put that to ifa instead of nav?
More, more! 🎉🎉
👍🏼 cool!
all that for your teammate to crash into you two seconds after

The one guy doing every step with no flucking idea what he's doing: *"this is fine"*
Hey can you do a tutorial for the sa342 gazelle?
LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
let's go!!!, half an hour later😂😂😂😂
How do you set the mouse that you can look around and click the parts?
I have to learn it to fly airplane suicide mission vs anime at all types
I wish if i have all those buttons and switches in my old car with actual functionality
I’m here in an 18 and I can’t get my throttle s to move forward after the 18% rpm any help?
Thankk youu! Saved my life
Hey for us preppers we will have some hella fun in an apocalypse for about an hour lol.
Do an A6 intruder!! My dad and his buddies flew those in the marine Corp.
I didn't know there was an FCS BIT switch!
Hi, thank you so much for this vid; I’m currently playing Infinite Flight with an F/A-18 and was wondering if this could help and it did. Thnaks
Can you do one for the F5E tiger 2?
I can't wait for the f35 update when it's declassified and it's just a push button start up
I always accidentally start the left engine first becuase of the ah-64D apache
Damn i was gonna play this game
Damn, this goes way faster in Top Gun:Maverick ;)
quick question, why does everyone and their mother fly the old Charlie model, rather than the Super Hornets?
New to DCS, can’t figure out camera controls without number keys, how do you remove chocks? Or get a better camera for the matter?
Dang in gta 5 all you got to do is jump the far fence, run over a few army guys, climb up kick the canopy open, and pin it!
Only a beginner will loose its braincells after listening to this guy
Damn thats too many switches...
The only thing i mess up is the numerical codes, btw u missed the nose wheel unlock on the front of the stick
you just taught me more than any teacher could lmao
as usal ... amazing
Saving that
YIKES thats why Im still using Autostart for te hornet lol
Only nitpick is you need to press D/L twice to get to Link 16, the first time you press it, it's Link 4 for ACLS.
Ok i will try this at home
I don't have a HOTAS or TrackIR, but man it's been some time since I played DCS that I forgot so many things when starting up the F/A-18C. Headache incoming.
A faster way to start up the actual engines: Right after the battery, switch on the APU and engine crank. I usually enable the throttle anywhere between 0-18%. When the throttle RPM gets to 34%, you can switch the engine crank for the other engine and they both will start.
Never thought that its so simple and easy to startup a jetfighter.
