    It seems that the global electric vehicle (EV) industry is undergoing transformative changes. Traditional leaders in auto manufacturing are now forming alliances with their Chinese counterparts to keep up with the evolving trends. Despite the significant strides being made in the EV market worldwide, internal combustion engines (ICE) are not expected to become obsolete, particularly in the US and Europe. Some countries remain undecided or are not yet embracing EV technology, leading to a tug of war between EV and ICE.     Given the fierce competition in the EV market in China, overseas auto makers just can't compete with local brands anymore. So they are seeking partnerships to stay competitive in China. With the battery technology is clearly leading the world, overseas auto makers have left no choice but to work with CATL or BYD. For example, Tesla is seeking partnership with CATL for its future EV models. Toyota is seeking partnership with Huawei with its autonomous driving technology, and there are many other examples that overseas auto makers forming partnerships in China. Can these overseas auto makers be able to sustain in this cutthroat EV market in China? What other possible options are there without relying on partnering with local Chinese technology providers?     Chinese EVs truly outpace the western technologies by miles, and they know it too. So what can they possibly do except working with their Chinese counterparts. They are clever to partner early before others do, and whoever partners first will probably stay alive.
