Max Blumenthal sums it up perfectly :
We've just crossed the 10 th anniversary of the Maidan coup in Ukraine, where the United States and the EU convinced not a majority, but a plurality of Ukrainians, that if they rejected a gas and grain deal with Russia and instead opted for an EU Economic Austerity package, they would eventually get EU membership and possibly NATO membership and as such would be stronger and more prosperous. And so they went out into Maidan Square together with a bunch of Neo Nazi thugs, who were the real muscle, and cheered against a democratically elected, but corrupt president who wanted Ukraine to stay neutral.
10 years later, Ukraine is the poorest country in Europe with an unprecedented migration crisis, has lost between 200,000 and 500,000 young men in combat, with as many maimed, and it has lost 1/3 of it's territory, including prime agricultural lands, and now will probably be raided by vulture capitalists at Blackrock and the companies they control.
That's the price of abandoning neutrality!
Ukraine means borderlands and a country like that is naturally neutral, but the US forced it into an anti Russian, unsinkable aircraft carrier, kinda like an Israel in Eastern Europe ; "Big Israel", as Zelensky called it....... And now, it's another tragic victim of US Imperialism!

The problem is that a tank like the Abrams was designed to fight in America and Western/Central Europe.
A tank like the T90 is made for Eastern Europe, thats why they overheat in India.
Every nation has made guns, tactics and other equipment for the weather and terain that they live in.

I would call the outgoing year “the year of NATO standards.”
Well, and, generally speaking, not only NATO, but, in principle, the entire Western military.
So, the standards by which Western military wins:
    1. The enemy doesn't have artillery.
    2. Total superiority in the air, 10 to 1, or better yet 30 to 1. Ideally, 100 to 0.
    3. Enemy soldiers run at fear when they see the Formidable High-Tech Western Technology.
    4. Minefields that can be avoided somewhere to the side.
    5. Bankruptcy of the enemy state, so that the elites and the army will run away and betray after the first bomb falls.
    6. The enemy lacks sapper shovels so that they cannot dig in.
    7. The absence of bushes and small trees that ruin the entire plan of attack.
Under these conditions western military can win. If at least one condition is not met, the probability of winning drops sharply.
Since the enemy army does not meet NATO standards.

In 80s when I served the BAOR it was well understood that NATO Forces could provide no more than a stiff initial resistance, buying for time. All our force Doctrine was based on the German strategy to hold against vastly supporters forces in Normandy 44 (operation Goodworth in particular was studied in depth) with no real prospect of victory. It was therefore the policy that tactical nuclear weapons would be used. To contain breakthroughs. Therefore a ground invasion was deterred by inevitable escalation to nuclear weapons.
Therefore I was shocked to read the narrative of a ukraine victory. Please bear in mind that nato armour was designed with the defensive Doctrine in mind. The whole force structure and Doctrine was for defense.
When did Nato become an offensive alliance ?
Russia posed no threat to the west hence the steady and substantial reduction in armed forces across Europe.
The West has ignored the Russia experience of WW2 and their justifiable duty to ensure it will never happen again.
As the buffer zones of the east became Nato countries anybody with an understanding of russians would know that this would lead do a confrontation.
Ukraine was the last straw. To have a virulent anti-russian nato trained and armed Country on their border was a line they justifiably will not allow to be crossed. Can you imagine that some of the Ukrainian openly glorify the Waffen SS ? What on earth do you expect the russians to do ?
It's over. Russia mobilised once (300,000) with another 1000 volunteers per day.
Ukraine is recruiting 60-70 year old men.........
When Will people understand ? The Ukraine could never win, and has lost. Badly.

Weird things are going on in Ukraine. On the one hand, you can find handicapped people in the trenches, on the other side you can find able bodied men partying in the cities, while military press gangs are snatching people from the street in ambulances.
On one hand, the Ukrainian army is suffering setbacks, on the other hand the political and miitary leadership seems to be caught in an inofficial blaming and assassination contest.
It feels like Ukraine is in total chaos. The leadership shows disunity in the times of need and the army doesn´t have a stable recruitment process. If the US are dedicated to doing everything to keep Ukraine in the game, we could very soon seen the emergence of a full blown totalitarian regime in Kiev, just to stop everything from crumbling.

They have banned opposition parties, banned Russian religion, banned the import of Russian language books without permit, stopped adult males from leaving the country, banned reporting of the effects of Russian attacks, forcibly conscripted men with no option for conscientious objection, summarily sacked all regional recruiting heads en masse, banned reporters who do not report favourably, created lists of enemies of the regime, declared anyone working with the Russians even in occupied territory as traitors, carried out targeted assassinations even of non military people, cancelled elections.

Vote Trump. He will bring a different approach. Dis on Putin and Zelenskyy and half the military staff and question what NATO is even doing. He will call Putin a little angry man and challenge him to meet and talk. That’s fine Putin will talk despite the dis and Ukraine will just have to come in a few weeks later after a plan is resolved and sign the deal.
