Travelling, in retrospect, might seem like a waste of money... But when you consider the experiences and lessons you learn from it, you see the true value of what it brings. Memories, culture, people, environments and most importantly, freedom. Travelling allows us to embark on adventures and, ultimately, seek inspiration and grow as an individual and human being.

We're travelling through Central America at the moment and we've found a massive discrepancy between the way some countries are portrayed compared to how they actually are. So many people skip visiting El Salvador because they're scared that it's too dangerous, but it's an amazing country. Definitely agree that you should go out there and experience places for yourself

Before I started to travel actively by hitchhiking and couchsurfing at the age of 23, I had a totally different perception of how people are. It was a life-changing experience to discover how kind and helpful people are towards strangers. I did traveling without money for several months a year and I most of the time got a place to sleep and food to eat wherever I went. I am happy I dared to do that since I wouldn't be able to afford the trips to the destinations I reached otherwise.

@@jimmoses6617 Hi! Thanks for your kind words. I absolutely see that all my parents did for me was out of love, and they have definitely lifted me up too. That being said, it's also good to make peace with the fact that everyone creates expectations for others and mistakes can be made even when you love someone. I know many parents do the best they can with what they have. That doesn't mean it isn't important to create space for people to find their individuality too, and that's what I was commenting about. Take care! :)

I miss travelling SO much, and I completely agree with you Sorelle! I haven't been lucky enough to travel to 50 countries yet (only 11 so far!), BUT I did learn a lot about myself and others in my journeys! Travelling does make you more in tune with yourself and others, it makes you more open to different people and cultures. I've been to a couple "more dangerous" countries, and honestly it's not really dangerous as long as you respect local values and lifestyle. You also develop a sense of awareness if someone might want to hurt you and it helps you make the right decisions to avoid dangerous situations. Of course, I'm not saying someone can fully become immune to danger, but developing that sense of awareness and being able to understand where others might be coming from helps tremendously.
Also, volunteering when traveling is AWESOME! I volunteered at an animal shelter in Thailand for 3 months, and it was the best time of my life. I met amazing people from all around the world, learned so much about the culture and had amazing experiences. Although I was able to rent my own housing while there, the shelter I worked at did provide housing to a limited number of volunteers. I do recommend anyone who's afraid of travelling to explore volunteer opportunities! Hope this helps anyone who is looking to take the leap!

Tbh, "start from scratch" is a tricky one for me. i was so eager to travel the world but I found myself always starting from scratch in many aspects of my life that it kinda hurt that I don't have a feeling of home and stability.
Now I love where I live, I know I can find even a better place for me but I so wanna give it all before I move. I don't wanna keep on being stuck in that starting from scratch loop.
I don't know if I even make sense!

I travelled to China for business by myself. Spent a month there looking at factories that made products I was interested in. Went by train and plane to different areas, none of them touristy. It was my first time going over sea. The most marvelous experience met so many happy "ordinary people". Had lots of fun when my translation app stopped working and had to mime things. I laughed a lot. I was amazed at how creative I could get and what power a simple smile and expression of gratitude could achieve. The people delighted me with their kindness and help. It is never to late to expand your experiences I was 55 at the time. I am amazed at how many people have asked me "wasn't I scared being by myself in a country where I didn't speak the language and very few spoke mine" and the answer is "nope". I found it very freeing, highly recommend giving it a try if it is something that interests you.

I agree especially on all points about people: they are happier, they are the same but unique, they are kind - mostly:
Anyway my naive self also had to learn several times on my trips, that NOT all people have good intentions - After all this 1 percent also has their reason for their bad intention. Well, fear stops gripping you, but other fears appear and want to be worked on after that trip and influence further decisions and travels. It is a big school out there!

I've only been to about 5 countries and I can say this is 100% accurate. One of the biggest takeaways I got from traveling (growing up in a family kind of obsessed with making money) is you do not need a lot to be happy. Some of the happiest people I've ever met lived in tiny huts with 5 others and had what some would call "nothing".

What I learned in my journey is, that, I can always make me home. I can practise little habits all over the word, if I feel lost, to remind me that even though everything is changing around me, I am still here and can make myself feel safe 💖 Becouse I sometimes its overwhelming, when everything slips away and changes. And I cannot agree more, people are kind, helping and loving majority of the time. And the best thing I could do for my self for my own character design and for my relationship with my family is to spend a really long period of time away from them ( I love them, but I found that I couldn't hear my own thought so clearly when I was too close to them ) and living in different places allowed me to see different cultures, religions and helped me to have an open and curious mind and I think overall made me a better person. Sometimes a good way to boost confidence is through ignorance. Agree to do something new and out of your comfort zone. Don't sweat every detail, just the important ones. When you get there, you'll be forced to figure it out because you wont have any other choice. By the end, you'll be confident that you can do that thing again. Knowing you can figure something out is just as valuable as figuring it out.

Which is beautiful, especially when one of their parents is stuck in that fear mindset. We have an effect on the people we share with!

Ha! I just came across this video, thanks CZcams algorithm! Every word she says is absolutely true. I've traveled to 48 countries and I promote almost exactly what she says in the video. I've been living by myself since I was 10. First in a boarding school and then university and now for a job. I absolutely love my family. We might not be together, but we're super close, which I've noticed is a rarity these days.
Travelling has definitely changed me as a person and I wouldn't have it any other way. One thing which I would like to add here is "travelling alone". (Maybe it is implied in the video, but...) I've travelled with friends and it is not the same. Most people won't talk to you because you're with someone. When you're alone, random strangers will approach you and you're free to do the same. Some of my best experiences are because I was alone there. When you think about it, you are never ever alone really. The world is an absolutely gorgeous place and like Sorelle said, 99% of them are really kindhearted people. You'll be fine. ♥️

Dear Sorelle, you popped up in my feed recently and I want to thank you for making this video. Instead of me telling those exact things to everyone who asks me about my thoughts about my traveling experiences, I shall just send them this video!!! It is 100% how I talk, from the content to the mini rant about governments, hehe ... thank you.
I think the universe sent you on those expansive travels so that you have the intrinsic motivation and understanding to use your skills and reach for making true and lasting changes to the world, in whatever area you choose to reign next (assuming it will be the financial education channel). It tested your commitment to growth and now that you have proven yourself through the money gains and the willingness to get to know yourself through the dark night (more like 2-3 years) of the soul, it will reward you 1000fold. Welcome to the other side, it is beautiful here.
Say hi if you want any strategic support in that. xox

Great insights Sorelle. I've shared this video with every single one of my children, nieces, and nephews. It's so important to understand your place in the world and that cannot be achieved without traveling and exposing yourself to other cultures.

Another amazing and up to the point video Sorelle! For me moving abroad was probably the best thing I ever did in my life so far and made me such a better person! I totally see your point now that money is not evil and it will magnify the real person you are, so in this sense I love the fact that you create such influential videos to reduce ignorance and hate! The last point is also so big! I think I am also finding that even though it may sound a bit counterintuitive, the more I travel and the more I meet new cultures and people, the more I get to know my own self too.

What a beautiful video! I agree with you on all of these things. Traveling can really give you so much. So many people think the world is filled with people who want to hurt you, of course there will always be those too, but quite often people let negativity and fear stop them from experiencing something beautiful. The world has so much to give! 🙌🏼

I just discovered you 2 weeks ago via your finance chanel. I'm really impressed by the quantity and quality of what you're sharing. So many gurus and "magic recipes" on youtube, you're defenetly not one of them. You really seem to talk from experience, read a lot.. your thought on most subjects really resonates on me.
