110 Objects and 111 videos... it keeps getting Messier :D
Sad and Sorry but Shocked Surprised & Stunned by Messiers 107 and 108 the fact, coincidentally or Ironically the latter being though knot to everyones satisfaction 108 ABarredSpiral and I don't know why that is what this Glob noted2 {\} ((
Congrats, and thank you! Caldwell time?
10 years ago, when this series started I lived in a house that had number 108 in a street starting with the letter M, so we called the house M108 for short. I joked about it being the M108 galaxy, and waited for this video to appear. Finally it's here, but I moved out. Some of my best years I lived in M108, with great friends.
I feel kind of sad that we're done with the catalog. I think it's time to start on the initial NGC ( those not also in the Messier catalog, of course). There's only 7,840 objects in that... should keep you busy...
Thanks so much for these wonderful videos.
There are lots of cool objects in the NGC and IC catalogs that Messier missed. This would also be a cool channel to see new Kepler discoveries and some of the HUbble Deep Field objects.
Congratulations, DeepSky! I'm so happy we now have a video on every Messier object 🎉
What a journey!
Wonderful to end with two of my favourite astrophysicists.
1:03 I ADORE Becky’s impromptu M108 song! 🎶❤️🌟 A rockin’ rollin’ way to the Messier catalogue. 🤟🏼
Dr Becky's Beach boy parody was amazing
Dr. Becky is a natural songwriter.
Incredible to see this project completed!! I started watching I think around the start of high school........ and earlier this year I graduated undergrad with my astrophysics degree. Videos like yours both inspired me to follow that dream and to work in science outreach while getting my degree, which brought me endless joy. Truly, truly, thank you for everything. 💖
"Back-smang." :D
I thank this channel for introducing me to Dr. Becky and other scientists whose channels I now also subscribe to. These fascinating pieces of content are the only reason I have to interact with CZcams.
Congrats to the channel and professors. What I loved is that it was not just random discussion on each object. It was properly researched and narrated by professionals. It took 10 years. But all videos were on point. My suggestion is to redo some early videos since we have come a long way in research in last 10 years so some objects might need update.
Great videos. The personalities of the professors and Brady make these special.
Must have almost seemed a fool's errand at the start. Now you've completed the catalog! Congrats on a classy job throughout. I've been with you for most of the journey, counting down the final vids with anticipation. But I think that crossing the finish line warrants more celebration than just: Oh, by the way, we're done. How about a 45-minute retrospective with all the professors, recent discoveries and updates from the earlier objects, "making of" tid bits, what's next announcement, songs, etc.
Congrats on reaching all 110 Messier objects! I hope that this is not the end of channel
Brady explicitly says at the end of the video that we should stay subscribed because there’s more coming.
No it isn't, the deep sky expands as we all know ...
We will need an update video for every messier object with images taken by JWST 😊
Congrats on completing the collection, and thanks for the Bonus Dr. Becky (with song!)
I've really enjoyed watching these. Congratulations and thanks to all involved for sharing their time and passion.
Have really enjoyed this series, thanks very much!
Hooray! Finally :-)
Great to se Mike and Becky in this final video.
Can't wait for your next episode on the M113 armored personnel carrier. Jokes aside, I've only just discovered this channel, but I'm astonished how you've been consistently making the Messier series for a decade. Congratulations on reaching 110 Messier Objects!
Congratulations on completing the catalogue, I'm sure I have watched every single one over the decade I have been a subscriber.
Amazing to see this project completed after over a decade! Looking forward to seeing what is next for the channel!
If you're looking for ideas, I'd love for a series on our solar system, sort of a cross between "Moon of the Week" and Periodic Videos. You could do an updated video on each planet (and the sun, of course), and then dive into the dwarf planets, moons, and asteroids.
Love your work! Can't wait to see what is next!
It is impossible not to love Dr Becky enthusiasm . I will have to try and see this with my scopes
would love to see a final recap vid featuring as many previous Messier contribs as possible to talk general legacy of the catalogue....
But congrats on the last of them - all enjoyable, even all those open clusters.
It was lovely to watch this messier series through all these years. Thank you for the content and I hope you’ll not end just on messier catalog.
Congrats, I was here when this started! hard to believe it's been 10 years already
Loved that tune. Has a nice ring to it
Congratulations for finishing this huge project!
This is bittersweet
Congrats on reaching 110 Messier Objects! Im excited with what else You come up with!!
Congrats on finishing the catalogue! Definitely sticking around for whatever's next.. genuinely one of my favorite channels on the CZcamss!
Blimey, end of an era. Congrats!!
Congratulations and a supermassive Thank You! Every Deep Sky Videos video has been like a little Christmas.
Congratulations on covering all Messier objects!
Congrats on reaching 110!
Congrats on the completion of the video set.
Congratz!!!!!!
Thanks a lot for the awesome material! 😀
* patiently waiting for NGC 1 video *
Thank you all so much for these videos. I have learned quite a bit from everyone and each video.
[Off topic] Hi Brady, I tend to approach science at a personal level so I love the 'list' approach you've taken with Deep Sky Videos, Periodic Videos and some of your other channels that lets me get to know these individual things personally. There is another list that no one on CZcams seems to be talking about if maybe you'd consider it. It is Hadrons (pions, kayons, b mesons and the other mesons and baryons). Everyone seems to talk about the fundamental particles, but from the little I've been able to learm the Hardons have some really interesting stories.
I look forward to a updated episodes when JWST images these galaxies.
Congrats on finishing that run
110 it's time to rewatch the series!
Congratulations on completing the catalog--Can't wait to see what's next. Caldwell perhaps?!
I was actually able to follow most of the explanation. :) Thanks so much for being our portal to the galaxies!
Congrats! Impressive achievement. Can't wait to see what else you've got planned.
Congratulations! Great project.
I have no idea how I missed this video, but congratulations on the milestone. I really love this series and look forward to seeing what you do next.
BTW, does Dr. Merrifield need to borrow a chainsaw?
Now that the Messier catalogue is complete, you guys should do the NGC next
Now I feel excited about intermediate black holes. You are awesome!
Well there is the "Finest NGC" or the "Caldwells" as a successor. There aren't southern hemisphere explicit lists and it's a shame because there are several nice objects there that would deserve treatement (the Magellanic clouds for instance)
I can't believe we made it.
I love that pun at the very end
Can't wait to see what's next :)
Thanks!
I would think that IF spiral galaxies can have odd number of spokes that it would be unusual that the center of mass would be the center of the image when looking at it edge on.
Brady, have you considered creating videos for some of the Caldwell Catalog objects? There are some great gems in there that I think would make for fantastic videos, and they also extend well into the southern hemisphere.
Omg you did it! Congrats! Did you say you were gonna do the NGC next?😁
Finally, you can start your Herschel 400 series.
On to the NGC now :)
It’s not just a messy galaxy! It’s a Messier galaxy.
End of an era
So, what now? On to the NGC?
Dr. Becky is on fire.
Sharpless catalog next!
The Messier catalogue is complete... time to start on the New General Catalogue then? I suppose we already have started, given that many Messier objects also have NGC numbers.
Great, now lets do the ngc catalog
HAHA Loved the Beach Boys
Now it is the time for NGC catalog :)
it would take them about 750 years to complete if they had they uploaded at the same rate as the Messier videos lol
Some of the most fun videos on numberphile are the joke debates. Like pi vs Tau or decimal versus dozemal etc.
I wonder if you could get two contributes to this channel and present one of the bigger debates in astrophysics. Main difference being that mathematics are kind of a choice, so there are opinions. While astrophysics are just insufficient theories.
alright deep sky vid and DR Becky😺
Congratulations, well done, perhaps it's time to start a new galactic and/or stellar/planetary observation project using the latest generations of space telescopes. Perhaps observations that are difficult to explain including papers recently explain these phenomena.
Woohooo !
If an 85 solar mass and a 65 solar mass black hole merged together to produce a 142 solar mass black hole, does that mean 8 solar masses worth of matter was lost as energy? Now that is mind-bending.
I cant believe it, the end of an era!
Start of a new one!?
@@DeepSkyVideos I hope so! I look forward to the next chapter
@@DeepSkyVideos I hope so!
Is there a Westerlund catalogue?
Post the iTunes link to your surfing on M108 song!
You could now add objects from the Caldwell catalogue that are not Messier objects.
Now do them again but using the JWST images.
1:47 But of course it’s a messy-looking galaxy. It’s in the Messier catalog
Apparently 100,000 intermediate mass black holes were found in globular cluster B023-G78
Now for the objects Messier seems to have missed, like NGC 2903, 7331, 3115, etc. Please? :)
Aren't all galaxies in Hubble's classes just the result of the time since last galactic merger and the mass, speed, and angle of incidence (relative to the planes) of the galaxies involved?
Watching these videos makes me feel like a buffoon.
Wow. What will you cover now?
🏄🏼♂
What's it's rotation curve look like...?
Anyone know what that pink python book is on the desk at the begining?
Announcing a new channel : "Back-Smang!"
Never heard it called the plough before. It's always been the Big Dipper here in Canada.
So that galaxy is messier than most Messier objects.
no lie, someone needs to take Dr Becky up on making a song about this as parody of surfin' USA. 🤣🤣🤣
08:10 - So compare to some other galaxies, this one is ... messier ?
HELM TO 108
Checking on my phone to see what it is doing... Prof. is definitely using ASIAIR, lol
🎉✨🌌
Well, there's only one thing to do. Someone should point Webb at it and see what happens.
Ok, but does it even float?
This is the last one :(
8:30 oh noes :|
Dr Becky doing original research for a youtube video 👍
And now… roll those bloopers 🤦♂️
