  • On August 3, 1964, Capitol Records released the Buck Owens single “I Don’t Care (Just As Long As You Love Me).” Over three months prior, Owens and his band performed the song in New York, live on The Jimmy Dean Show.
“I Don’t Care (Just As Long As You Love Me)” spent six weeks at No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Singles chart. It also went to No. 1 on the Canadian RPM Country Tracks chart and peaked at No. 92 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart. The album of the same title was released on November 2, 1964, and reached No. 1 on the Billboard Country albums chart and No. 135 on the pop albums chart.
In newly resurfaced footage, watch what is possibly the earliest live performance of this song. From April 23, 1964, see Buck Owens and the Buckaroos perform “I Don’t Care (Just As Long As You Love Me)” on The Jimmy Dean Show!

Buck and Don Rich were, are the best country music ever. No musicians today will ever top these guys.

You can see Buck's expression change as soon as Don starts his great harmony...I wish they could've worked together longer.

I miss Don's voice so much. And his smile, too. He was electric. Beautiful.

A-mazing! So much talent in that band. The singing and musicianship Buck and The Buckaroos had outshines everyone in country today. My opinion of course. Thank you so much for posting this.

Are you worried, anxious about anything? I encourage you to pray this prayer aloud.
In the name of Jesus, I cast the whole of my care [all my anxieties, all my worries, all my concerns for ________, my future, my family, once and for all] on You, for You care for me affectionately and care about me watchfully. Amen(

Love this. Don's guitar playing is why I play guitar. I've spent a lifetime learning his licks and songs. I wonder what ever happened to the telecaster he played on the Jimmy Dean shows - before he and Buck got the sparkle telecasters from Fender? Great video - a treasure for sure!

Don was so great on that Tele. They often tuned down 1/2 step for a deeper tone. Sounds like they did it here.

Yes and he was still using strings with a wound 3rd string then too. They were probably 12-52's or a similar gauge.

Marty Stuart is in possession of Don’s silver telecaster. Story goes that Buck gave it to Marty.
