I grew up on a hay farm in northern Minnesota so I know all about lifting heavy bales.
It's heavy bells
Connor Stiles get trolled
+West St Paul Chiro Its ok, you were close enough ;)
LOL @ heavy bales.
Jason Isabel 25
Best blues rock I've heard since Led Zeppelin! The rock is harder, but the blues is still moanin' & wailin'!
I'm responsible for 15% of these views. Why does this rock so good??
especially right wen it goes black then into all hail heavy bells...thats wen I thought it was gonna haha
Maybe the heart is in the right place...
I don’t know much about art, but I know what I like. I have no clue what it is about but this song makes me jump off my chair and yell.
This song sounds like whiskey tastes!
I want to love this.
Nice!
Bourbon or Canadian?
These guys took rock and roll, threw it in a deep fryer, added nitrous oxide and Jack, tied it to a bottle rocket and lit it with a highway flare!
That was beautiful.
YES LAWD
Utmost brilliance
I read this out load and eargasmed as the song was also playing in the background.
thank you, kind sir :)))999999999999999
People have not yet totally realized how completely awesome this song is in every form.
no shit - so good. can't wait to see them next sunday in san diego
This song is wild! You dont see too many bands rock like this these days.
Simple, overdriven guitar riffs (sad how guitar is dying in modern rock), fiery vocals, man, I love it!
Guitar isnt dying its just evolving. Yeah this song captures simple driven guitars at its best but this kind of rock is honestly way overdone nowadays, its better to evolve
@@TotinosOtherBoy guitar is trash these days, its completely devolved from van halen, and then devolved even more from this, muse, anything resembling talented guitar, you're just a punk next generation trash fool who doesn't have an ear for music
@@jamesbondisamonkey well music taste is subjective, however I actually know how to play multiple instruments, so from a technical point i objectively have a better ear for music than you.
This song is still going hard!
I said to myself "This is a cool song, I bet I will understand what he's saying when I see the lyrics". I've now seen the lyrics and the song makes less sense than before.
Michael I fuckin agree Wth the video is far out too. I don't know what he's saying but it's dope regardless. ★
I think he is suffering from a hang over is what the song means.
He’s talking about how his dad suppressed his music because his dad only wanted him to listen to gospel. He’d burn his records, but the “seed” survived
It's a reference to his Catholic upbringing. Heavy bells represent the church. Black folds and beard represent the priests.
I think he is saying one day we are all going to wake up and face death.
This dude's voice... It's like, so unique, it's got an interesting... I can't really say. But it's so haunting, the way he sings the sort of soft and somewhat melancholic first part, then it explodes into that badass scream he has. I also really like the whole kinda Led Zep kinda vibe they have.
I really hope these guys get their props. Because they got some good stuff going on here, and they got some real talent. I mean REAL talent.
Just heard this song for the first time a few minutes ago on the radio. AWESOME!
He sounds like Caleb from Kings of Leon with a Led Zepp guitar riff... This is my song for the summer!
For those looking to get some meaning of this song, I'll try my best to explain:
His mama knew who he was and how he feels, his daddy tried to stop him from being who he is and almost succeeded. The "muscle hollar and a moan" is his own way of describing his singing. "Black chords" and "black sound" are references to his music in the eyes of those that dont approve. The "catholic" tone is used possibly as a religious reference, but mostly to describe conformity in life OR other types of music. The "heavy bells" represents his kind or style of living and music (tolling out of tune) according to the norm. "You're gonna wake up" and "Toll their tune for you too" are expressions of his plea for you to be yourself and get rid of conformity. "Black sounds upon his folds" references the folds of sheep (conformity) being threatened by his music which takes form in the "nerve hound" or wolf. Chop talking is a hunting reference conerning the wolf hunting the sheep...meaning his music hunting down conformity. Blood and honey are the spoils of consuming conformity, which he has come to fear.
I hope this helped show why this song will last forever.
the heavy bells are 'tolling out a tune', not 'tolling out of tune'.
Fuck yes mate I respect you
Well done sir
That was a great description, bro. I sent it to a friend and she didn't get it either.
Naw, he's talking about the heavy bells you hear when you smack one straight into the main line.
This songs reaches down deep inside and pulls out that which makes us all want to emote
Love it! Raw! Reminds me of the 70's!
I have this song timed on playlist to hit just around mile 3 of my run when I'm hitting the big hill on 13th. Every single time it drives me into a frenzy and pushes me up that hill top speed. I love this fucking song. Never stops zapping me with adrenaline when I need it. Possibly my favorite heavy song of all time.
Its about him being from a catholic home, and the type of music that he loved.
I freaking love how Zeppelin this is. Finally some rock with passion and intensity.
Especially at 2:38
This song is so strange....and yet....I can't stop listening to it....
Nice to see true, honest rock music still exists. Thanks to Pop Empire & Cam for turning me on and CD101 in Columbus for spinning the digital tracks.Great Stuff!
I feel the same man i live in Columbus too and love 92.9 it rocks!!! They have alot of great songs.
Effing Rad! C'mon guys, this band has HUGE and obvious Zeppelin & old school Souther n Rock influence through and through.
This just doesn't get old. Must have heard it 50 times on the local station and I still love it
Years later,, this song still ain't old,,, --it got me thru to the end of a bid--
Every human Brain perceive differently ! The Poetry , Musical notes & Human voice box . Surely ( INNA )
This record is smokin'!
Anyone who dislikes this does not know damn good music if it slaps them in the face.
Eh. It's alright. It's not bad. I just don't; I'm not sold yet.
Man, this is some fucking rock and roll. This band had better get huge.
Every so often a band will come along that restores your faith in rock&roll…..this band has done that with this song especially 🖤🥶be safe out there
Holy crap, just heard these guys the other day.... this song is amazing.
Kings don't have this soul.... thank God J business is here. fuck yah!!

I can not stop listening to this song. I heard it on the radio like 4 hours ago got home and searched it and haven't stopped listening to it on repeat. Ive never heard of these guys but they have restored my faith in rock n roll. They make me miss the old Kings of Leon
This needs a full load out. It’s time let’s go!!
Saw them live yesterday.
Amazing!
I. Love. This. Band. They actually come from near me.
I LOVE the music! The lyrics, well... it's like an episode of "bad lip reading"...
yeah I aint too sure on these, either! but who knows?
i love this because it makes me think of a village driving off a horde of ancient horrors and defeating them by ringing thousands and thousands of bells
once again spotify proving its worth and helping me find my next favorite band!!!! these guys ROCK!
My great taste of music brings me here...
Holy Shit! Favorite new band. These guys rock
Thank you Grace! Awesome tune.
2:20-2:53 - it's scary how much they sound like Zeppelin here
i fuckin love that chorus, this guy's voice is so epic!
Love how the record is smoking, it should be. Bad Ass Tune.
Hell's bells, yes, please and thank y'all.
This song rocks. Can't wait to see you guys in SF.
My favorite artists are Jack White, KOL, Led Zeppelin, and Nirvana and this song is ALL of them combined with a dash of modest mouse, AWOL, and rolling stones. I LOVE it!
Wouldn’t have thought of modest mouse until you said it but that’s dead on.
"Chop talking" is a term used by hunters. The lyric is not "shop talking" like a lot of people seem to think.
"Muscle, holler, and a'moan" is J. Roddy describing the way that he thinks he sings.
Those two things are confirmed, but the overall meaning of the song is still kind of mysterious. I think the beginning of the song is talking about J. Roddy's childhood where he was not allowed to listen to certain kinds of music because of his parents' strong Catholic beliefs. His daddy "burned the dirt (probably J. Roddy's records) but the seed survived" meaning that his love for the music lived on even after he was forbidden to hear it. After that, I'm really not sure.
Ah cool - sometimes it's frustrating if you don't get a reference, but when you learn it. It makes you appreciate a song more.
Sounds about right.
Seriously can't stop listening to this.
Good stuff! Love the whole album.
I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH!!!!
This Song Rocks... Great New band...
Can't wait to see these guys in KC in a few weeks.
Just an insane song that I can't get enough of!!!
J Roddy Walston and the BID-NESS!!!
I think my iPhone is broke. It keeps playing this song over and over. No complaints.
Haha
My favorite new song from 2013. The view count on this needs to explode.
Fuck I love this band this song has been stuck in my head for a few weeks now my gf tired of me walkin around whisperin heavy bells haha
Love the rhythm and vocals on this song. Have no idea what the fuck those lyrics are about but who cares anyway right?
Goddamn, this is awesome. They opened for Cage The Elephant and The Foals the other day. I missed the opening band due to work. Now, I wish I had've called in sick!!!! :) Amazing sh*t man.
rock and roll! Merry Christmas with heavy bells
When I first heard this band, I thought it was kings of Leon

BEST SONG EVAHHH!!!!!!!!
Phenomenal song!!!!!!
Oh man I forgot this song existed. Reminds me of sophomore year of high school
What an amazing 😉 video wo selling out to major labels!!!! Keep it J roddy!!!!! W or Wo the business. Since 2007
I LOVE this f**king song!!!
This song gives me hope again in rock.
Saw them open up for cage the elephant couple years back and I'd never heard of them. Loved me ever since! They really have a way with the crowd. They got the whole stadium to him a tune along with him and it was magic! All the dudes have so much character and long shaggy hair I love em!
These lyrics are real poetry, comparisons with other bands emerge, other genres too, but it's real. I hear some Reggae, Zeppelin, Gideon Smith and the Dixie Damned etc...but it's original too. This guy is good.
I love music and the talks people have about it.
I remember hearing this song on the radio a few years ago and instantly falling in love with it. Had to figure out what it was called, but found it and immediately bought it on iTunes. Three years later and it's still an amazing song.
Seeing these guys live near the end of January! Cannot wait!
Love his voice!
Driving around Houston lessening to this song makes me feel so played back. Don't feel like i'm at work. ..
new fave jam-out song holy shit
I JUST WANNA DANCE AND JUMP AROUND! And usually I'm a conservative person lol
A Las Vegas Radio DJ said the same thing... She said the Studio is Shredded after this song...
I can hear, separate out each chord on this song, except during the heavy, fuzzy chorus. Beautiful
THE HEAVY BELLS! THE HEAVY BELLS! FUCK YEAH!
BAD ASS BAND! WITH A BADASS NAME! IT IS LIKE TWO SONGS IN ONE LOVE IT! NEXT BIG THING!
you got the bad right anyways
This is awesome. I love it. This should win an award.
lol when you're watching the lyric video but still doubt that's what he's saying an dont understand the song for shit but you still love it .. Yeah that's a good song (:
This is damn good music. Well done.
Looking forward to this cd. 9/10/13. It's marked on my calendar

I have tinnitus because of this song. To keep the sound from waking the neighbors I'd place my computer speakers up to my ears like headphones dozens of times. I love this f&cking song, could not get enough in 2013
Just heard this for the first time today. Cant stop listening to it. Good stuff.
Addicted to this song!
