But I would put the center line of the wedge on the table anyway. You folks have developed a great system. I'm always taking lessons. Have a great day!

@@hardworkingmanoutdoors this has been tumbling around in my brain for a day. How about one of those laser levels that puts a square line across a floor, like for tile installers. You would have to have a color that shows up in daylight, and a bracket clamped on the top of the machine. Marking the table could be as simple as a carpenter square and a sharpie. But the baseline takes your eyes off the top of the round. It's an interesting enhancement to the process.

Have you ever tested a splitter with an X blade? I see European splitters cut the rounds and place them horizontally on a conveyor that then marches past a horizontally-mounted splitter with an X blade - gives super consistent splits, and seems the most efficient of all splitter designs if consistent size is needed.

Some people don't want the bark mess. I did an order of cherry cooking wood and the guy wanted as much barkless as possible. I think he was using it in an open oven so maybe less dirt/ smoke on the item being cooked. He also wanted the bark pieces but they were for a different type of cooking. Maybe the bark adds a stronger flavor?
