A small foot going from the back of the rack to the ground would change the stress on the suspension from sag to lift.
Would also help extend the life of the hitch. Typically they are only a couple hundred pounds weight on the tongue. Plus with it being a couple feet beyond the hitch really puts a big moment arm on the hitch. Definitely put a foot to support it :)
@@willofthemakertongue weight is typically 10% of the gross trailer weight rating. Class 3 hitches are 6,000lbs gross and 600lbs tongue. Class IV are 10,000lbs gross and 1,000lbs tongue for non distribution hitches.
Even with a couple feet of lever arm (rack) the +/- 250 lbs is nothing to that hitch. All the flex is in the rack not the hitch.
Personal I think one foot on each corner will be better cuz then the load can't slide side to side

Fishing rod holders you put a mount fishing rod holders on it up toward you can put your rods in it and back it up to the lake

I have a selection of jack stands and scissor jacks for my camping trailers. You could place something like that under the hitch at the back of the cargo rack to take some of the movement out of the SUV.

Like surgeon tattoo said I would add legs to either side of the rack that drop down and on the ends of the hammock pulls themselves I'd add like a 10-in extension so you can put up a ridge line and put your rain tarp I was thinking something like a threaded rod so you can adjust it out for length or just tighten it overall. I also had an idea for a rooftop hammock setup that we go from side to side and you can put a hammock on either side of the vehicle I'm an avid camper and had a few ideas like this over the years
If you want to remove the galvanized coating get som muratic pool acid and dunk it until it quits bubbling then rinse with water.

I'm an avid hammock camper and I can agree yes you need a hammock in your life once you learn how to sleep in them right they're way more comfortable in a tent way later than tent faster and easier setup than a tent and with the right Canvas OR tarp over your hammock you have plenty of room to hang out in the rain good luck with your hammock Adventures definitely put it up in your backyard over a couple weekends and sleep in it and figure it out before you go on a long trip though and a longer hammock is a better hammock

Just put a jack stand in the center of the rack when in use. That will stabilize you very much
You lay down at an angle in a hammock like that. It distributes the weight properly that way and is much more comfortable.

I was thinking one adjustable height foot at the hitching point and then one on each side of the rack as well. Tripod stabilization. Each could then also be table and chair mounts? Great video. SUBBED!

Thanks! I taught myself watching CZcams. It’s really not hard. There are soo many knowledgeable people here. It’s something you won’t regret learning to do. Within a couple short sessions I could weld confidently enough to start making things. It didn’t look pretty but it worked. Buy some small mild steel plates or cut off scrap on eBay to practice with. 1/16 - 3/16 thick. If you are looking for a welder give YesWelder a look. Best welders your going to find at that price. They are always offering 20-25%off so watch for those promotions.

Another mad video brother, would like to see if any of them could hold 255-260 lb though as I'm somewhere between that at around 116kg-120kg. See how strong they really are.

If you look up corporal's corner he did a review on a pre-made hammock hitch mount that's made of Dom tubing and can hold like 300 lb that's the one I was thinking about getting in case I had to sleep with my package with my legs by myself in a little over 200 lb so I know you're pain
