In an old shop I worked at, I found a big box of maybe 250 1960s Campagnolo Record sidepull brake arms, just the long one: but no other parts to match them. So rather than send them to the smelter, I made them into bottle openers by cutting the brake shoe stud eye in half and shaping it a bit. They all sold within a month: plenty of hipster Campag/beer fans where I live. Best use for them, IMHO: even the best of this design were awful to use, compared to today's dual pivot brakes.
Another nice video, thanks Calvin.
Exactly the video I needed! Thanks so much.
I have those brakes on a 85 univega, and now I understand them. Thank you.
Nice to see you working on something that's not brand new Calvin. Keep up the good work 👍🏻
You deserve a nice raise sir!
This is great. Especially with the used bike market booming and the new bike supply lines slacking. I used to hate those brake. Most of the reason I ended up going fixed gear!
Dia Compe is still great stuff. One can still find new and NOS rebuilding parts. Add cool stop shoes and these brakes are as good as anything out there.
Great video
I love this.
I love parktool
Awesome
Nice. Old school brake system I used to repair more than 30 years ago. This was easy to maintain by a 10 year old. Modern disk brakes need a bit more technical.
Park Tool channel is just so awesome. Thank you for your How To videos Calvin. They really help a lot.👍🏼👍🏼
Hello Bonjour , Perfect 👍☺ Thank you 👋😀
Yes it's nice
Park Tool Co. can you guys show or demonstrate how the BBT-6 is used. Thanks
Thats a fun one. Possibly down the trail a bit.
It seems to me that the lube you put on the brakes will wash off after a couple of rides, so the creaking will come back, because the parts are just worn? Isn't it a better option to replace the caliper and avoid having to lube the brake again in future?
The lube will last much longer than a few rides in there. Applying once a year is fairly common place.
Can you explain the difference between a 32 hole and 36 hole hub
36º has 18 holes per flange for a total of 36. 32º has 16 per flange. Rims are made for both. If you are building, just have the hub and rim match.
@@parktool thanks for explaining for me 😊
I need a new front rim and front and rear tires and tubes if anyone can tell me where to get tires that fit I've tried 700c and 27in tires but none fit and I have a 24in mtb wheel that fits on the front but I cant use front brakes
Have you checked whether it might be 650C? Or 26" decimal, or 26 x 1 3/8 (which is actually two different sizes)? What bike is it?
@@mattgies its says 27 on the rim made in Japan and it came off of a 80s world sport womens

Focus on modern mountain bike repair, I can’t believe this is being posted
Modern mountain bikes are but one small part of the wonderful world of bicycles, and we wish to celebrate the entirety. Don't be afraid to expand your horizons!
I suggest you go and get a large tub of Hair-Across-Your-Butt Removal Cream. & some clues.
