- (21 Jul 1994) Bosnian-Serb forces Thursday (21/7) opened fire with heavy machine
guns at UN troops who were attempting to install anti-sniping
barriers in the west of Sarajevo, French UN officials said.
The heavy firing incident in the west of town, near the
Oslobodenje newspaper building, lasted about 30 minutes and came
as French and Ukrainian soldiers were about to move into place
several heavy containers to protect the tram line from sniping.

I served there for the most life changing 9 month deployment, as a fresh 18 year old raw recruit 7 months into my military career. We made ourselves a home away from home which we called Kiwi Camp and based ourselves in Santici. Which is a small village in Central Bosnia not far from a town called Vitez. I seen the ruins of war around the place on the way to our base during the daytime, on our UN chartered buses. You knew for sure seeing all that destruction, that this aint no game!!! That all this is some dead serious combat and must up your own personal game and a chance to utilize everything we been trained for. Unforgettable memories for an unforgettable time, in world history. After all these year's they still can't sit with eachother have a beer and talk? Instead of killing eachother? When are we going to bloody learn...💯

I don't want to be a conspiracy theorist, but one thing is know that some serbs where selling shells and other weapons to the enemy for a reasonable price so maybe some shells or bullets where not delivered by trucks but where still delivered the way buyer wanted them

They were not on a humanitarian mission and i do not disrespect their victims but it was such a hypocritical policy of UN controlled by US. In many, many cases they were just a cover for actions against Serbs and for smuggling weapons and equipment to Croatian and Muslim sides. Their real involvement was to break down Yugoslavia which they did in the end so yeah their mission was successful. If you research seriously about Yugoslavian wars of 90's you will see what their role was...

For shooting randomly in buildings? This is not FPS game, you cannot see nametag of enemy, this was real life situation, son!
That's not what I said, kiddo.
But they could have used the vehicle to get the soldiers to that were pinned down behind that truck to safety. Then they wouldn't have had to run across the street and risk getting shot.
As far as the snipers are concerned I think they should have scouted them out day by day. Realistically, they are probably within 1 km or not much more and so there are not that many buildings where they could be hiding. So it should be possible to find out pretty quickly where there positions are. Then they could either fire back at them or drive there with a couple of armored vehicles, surround the building and get them out.
I know it's easier said than done, but I think well trained and well equipped soliders like the French or British should be able to handle this.

Pakistan helped with mujahids and baktar shikan(anti tank weapon made in pakistan) and albania helped with army.
Serbs enteredUN camp n massacred bosnians inside UN camp and UN forces ware silently looking at that.
Anti tank weapons changed the course of battle in favour of bosnia later.

they couldn't engage cause they probably had to get permission from their commanders, so they won't hurt any civilians or something like that, it's bullshit.
iss they don't need to take order from senior commanders when they are fired at and one of them is hit. Company or platoon commander can give such orders.

@Tees Man Get your facts straight before posting a comment. Communist China wasn't member of the UN until 1970s. North Korea backed by Soviet Union told the UN committee personnels to basically f**k off when the UN tried to help elect the new government for both Koreas after Korea's liberation from illegal Japanese takeover. And a few years later North Korea surprise invaded the South thinking they could easily swallow the whole peninsula. This was secretly approved by Stalin himself, mind you. Little did they know, South Koreans didn't want Soviet Union or any other country governing their country under the name of trusteeship or whatever. The North got beat up by UN and South Koreans so hard they retreated all the way back to Chinese border. That's when Chinese "volunteer army" came in for help, because Communist China couldn't officially declare war against the UN after just unifying their own country, or they would trigger a goddmn WW3. N.Korea and Communist China were clearly the aggressors, bunch of dirty backstabbing rats in this particular war as far as "who did it first" is concerned, and UN did a magnificent job of clearing out these pests as best as they can, their purpose being to prevent war from happening and when someone do start a war, they band together to beat em up so they wouldn't dare to start another.
North Korea is still continuing to sneak attack the South until this day after 70 years, with Communist China turning a blind eye to this mentally deranged child of a country doing sh!t while secretly giving goods to him to taunt the South, because they believe keeping the Kim regime, the most oppressive and hermatic government in the world, prevents the US from threatening them, the selfish losers. South Korea has its hands tied behind its back because they actually follow the rules and UN's close supervision to try and stop the war from happening, which worked somehow for the last 70 years, thank god, while the North only communicates through a f**kin MAILBOX now, which they open every once in a while in secret to see what the South and the UN has to say to them.
