    Some excellent shooting Dave, I've been lucky enough to have had 3 walked up days at Greystoke & had snow underfoot on 2 of those days, great mixed bags of Pheasant, Partridge, Woodcock, Duck & Snipe. Lovely setting & great keepers.

    Superb video in a beautifully classic locale. Well done with the little gun; that last drive in the tall trees was great to watch with some outstanding hits on really well presented and shootable birds. Thanks for this one, keep up the excellent work Dave.......can't wait for the shooting season to begin over here. Best regards as always, Ed.

    As one of the best game shots in the UK, it would be really useful if you could sometimes attach a ShotKam to your guns so lesser mortals could get a better appreciation of your undoubted successful technique!

    • @DaveCarrieShooting
      @DaveCarrieShooting  Před rokem +5

      i much prefer seeing shot string on the slow mo and the movement on the pheasant for accuracy, dots in front of a bird doesn't help to judge speed or distance - time in the field is most important! but i also understand that not everyone can afford time in the field, i might try one on some extreme birds in the future.👍👍

      @@DaveCarrieShooting Thank you for your reply. I have watched a lot of your videos, and am always intrigued by your style of shooting, which is obviously very effective. It appears on your videos that you swing through the bird at a steady speed, then at the last second seem to 'fling' the gun in advance of the bird! With a ShotKam I thought it might give a better view of what you are actually doing. It may be that in fact you are not really aware of what you are doing, a purely instinctive exceptional skill!

      Hi Chris,Many People have observed this last split second movement it’s the same on clays! I don’t realise I’m doing it!! But obviously it’s a final natural instinctive trait that I possess! Often think it could be something to do with only having one eye and the brain compensating in a beneficial manner for target recognition/zoning🤷‍♂️I don’t know why I do it 🤔

      @@DaveCarrieShooting Thank you again for replying. Very interesting, and you seem to have a unique talent and brain/sight/ hand coordination that enables you to shoot so well. As someone who struggles with a left master eye and shoots off the right shoulder, I am especially interested, thus my suggestion for the ShotKam to try and better understand how you do it!

    Very nice shooting in a great venue! My only concern with the .410 is that shooters who are undisciplined with respect to the range of the .410 wound a lot of birds.

  • @duncaninglis1406
    @duncaninglis1406 Před rokem

    Interesting comment regarding the chokes, you found little difference in pattern between 1/4 and full - have you any idea why that should be? My son uses a 410 amazing what it’ll bring down, great fun to shoot.

    • @DaveCarrieShooting
      @DaveCarrieShooting  Před rokem +1

      Hi Duncan
      i would think size of bore the 410 will be tight enough even with no choke at all, i patterned the 410 and the 18grm 6s soon as i got chance and could only compare it with the difference between a 3/4 choke against a full choke in the 12 gauge which is always minimal.

    The craze for shooting high pheasants, or number’s of the bag will end pheasant shooting David.
    You excel at what you do , no doubt about it, and in the 30+ years I have spent on shoots, I have been privileged to see a few guns that could really ,and consistently hit the high birds. But the trend of shooting high birds has gone to far, on some shoots the birds are out of reach of most guns who just don’t put the effort in to marksmanship but book the day anyway. When you pickup, and you kill more birds than the gun who shot them, finishing the birds off that are wounded .😔 there’s something wrong.😔
    When you hear, I hit that one , from a gun, ? That only counts when shooting clay pigeons.
    Not for the pheasant who if he doesn’t get picked up and spends a week limping around before the next shoot .
    Wishing you all the best David 👍 Can you please promote shooting practice in the close season, many shoots do simulated pheasant days

    • @DaveCarrieShooting
      @DaveCarrieShooting  Před rokem +2

      I hear what you’re saying Shaun and totally agree with every word!! Although I support quality with killable high birds ! I too have seen an undeniable trend in putting birds out of range “this I do not agree with” I also see more and more average shots having a go at birds way above their skill with a gun, I intend to speak up about this in my films and try and put things in perspective.
      Thanks for your engagement it needed saying and you couldn’t have put it any better 👍👏

      I think there’s a lot of new people coming in to shooting, probably for the wrong reasons , 🤔like they see Pheasant shooting as a status symbol so they buy a Range Rover and some funny socks and jet off to the country side to shoot pheasants. Not really interested in shooting they don’t put the effort in by practicing. Just something to brag about at the office or dinner party I guess 🙄 .. The very nature of game shooting is supposed to be challenging , but a lot of the guns are just so bad they can’t even hit the low ones .
      Simulated game shooting in the close season is the way to go, but I am not sure these new shooters will be interested in doing it.
      Keep posting 👍
