- Yesterday I was at Monza to record the 2017 Porsche Mobil1 Supercup official tests before the Monza race that will be held during the F1 Italian GP weekend. The 2017 GT3 Cup features the exterior looks of the 991 Mk2 models and the "new" 4.0-litre flat-6 engine with 485 hp at 7500 rpm and 480 Nm of torque at 6250 rpm. Watch and hear them in action on track!

I was really impressed by how they're good and fun to watch from the outside. I'm used to Ferrari Challenge or Lamborghini Super Trofeo where cars need to be driven in a more cleaner/GT way but those GT3s have a nice mix,
seems like a GT and a touring car had a son. The way they cut corners and jumps on curbs remember me the WTCC. Must be such an experience to race them on track. Have a great day mate!

Thank you! I'm always the first one that said "video doesn't give justice....ect" but I always hate how quiet are GT3 Cups in general (997.1, 997.2, 991....). Exhaust is too silenced. Heard one at Goodwood last month with a more louder exhaust and left me really satisfied and curious to hear even if in the actual championship the new GT3s were so loud. But in this test I have been disappointed, like every year... Maybe it's just a problem of dB noise limit at Monza, but judging by other videos I can't spot the difference with this one :(
Hi guys, I am #5 in this video! In this test we ran a silencer on the exhaust because of the noise limit in Monza. On the real race weekends we run completely straight through exhausts and the car is much much louder. This is why sometimes on some videos they seem quieter than other times! Thanks! Josh

Do Porsche manufacture and assemble the whole car or do they provide the parts to privateers to build it on their own? I dont understand how they can make so many cup car in such a small window. Or are they just upgraded versions of the mark1?
technically, you could build your own Cup car from a road going GT3 991.2 with parts but it would be far more expensive. Porsche builds and delivers the Cup cars fully operational (from the road going car) and their production started last year so that 4 series could get the new cars in 2017, while the others need to wait for 2018.

Are there rear engined or middle engined like the 2017 rsr?
only the 2017 RSR GTE is a mid engined "prototype" 911
Most likely a rear engine configuration, like the road legal gt3’s
why are they detuned from the standard GT3 engine?
Because the director of the Porsche Supercup series wants equal races between all cars.
the engine is most likely tuned to have a better curve where it matters in extreme conditions. These cars are barely idling in their life :)
To be more specific for my reply below, it was most likely better to fine tune the power / torques curves for intense usage no matter the HP peak lost 15 hp. You still get a better overall performance from the race tuned engine

Actually I'm always alone recording around the track.
But starting from this year I'm doing collaborations with other friends of mine (which are youtubers too) in order to record cars better around tracks/hillclimbs etc. We stand in different places and than we exchange the shots. But in that case you'll see another "copyright" on the video together with my "19bozzy92" logo

Yes same engine from 991 mk2, but heavily modified. Especially the sequential straight cut gear transmission makes it pop on shifts.

Only the Mobil 1 Supercup, and also German + American + Canadian Cup series have the new car in 2017
So in Australia you still have the 2013-2016 991.1 Cup car

Yeah my girl saw that also. Then she learned to appreciate the fine curves that make up the shape of a finely crafted form, the love that went into it and she changed her tune. Mostly I say to each their own, who gives a s#!t what I see or think, you (humans in general) have your own mind, voice and luckily own little box to make your own comment on how you see the world around you.
