  • In this video you will see me working on Brads engine. He recently sold his Golf TCR Racecar, then bought a Porsche GT3 Cup car.
    The car had gone over the recommended racing hours, so as a result it had to be stripped and rebuilt to give it a refresh.
    Brad owns the business next to my workshop, just in case any of you are wondering.
    Thanks for watching.
    James.

    Blimey those Germans do not make it easy to put pistons in. That Snapon torque wrench is brilliant i do not know how i managed with the old click one. I totally agree with Brads poster in his hallway, you only get what you work for.

    Awesome video. This is the first time I’ve seen that engine torn down and rebuilt and it’s more crazy than I thought it would be. Excellent job and hope to hear it run.

    Hi
    I have been watching several of your videos lately.
    If my life depended on the the quality of an engine rebuild, that engine would be entrusted to you. Truly excellent work. Really enjoy watching how you go about things.👍

    Layman's question James but could the piston/rods be dropped in the barrels and then drop the built assembly on the crankcase?

  • @AffordablePC1

    Is that a 991 Gt3 guys ? Also what engine code is that > Or is it a 997 GT3 ? Is it a 4.0 or a 3.8 ? Do you know the engine code ?

  • @richrdlewis6278
    @richrdlewis6278 Před rokem +1

    I take the initial head torque the way you do, inside out and recheck middle bolts. But to pull down the degree torque I work from one side of head to the other. I feel it pulls it down in a more square sequence.

      @graceenginedevelopments  Před rokem +1

      Hi Richard. Thanks for watching.. I've always done it that way, never tried your way, I'll do some research.

      @@graceenginedevelopments Only analogy I can come up with it's like rolling a sticker on, where your working one side to the other to squeeze the air out. Lol I've been doing it for years, always worked for me. Great vid as usual pal.

    Interesting that there doesn’t seem to be direct injection on the Cup engine. Is this engine more closely related to mezger than engine found in 991.1 GT3 road car?

    • @graceenginedevelopments
      @graceenginedevelopments  Před rokem

      Hi Nathan, I don't know it's the first one we did. I'll ask the owner though I expect he knows.

    • @hmk911
      @hmk911 Před 9 měsíci +2

      The first 991 Cup cars still had the 3.8 Mezger engine from the 997 due to the issues with the DFI engines in 2013/14.

    I'm not sure why you accepted this job, this isn't a Mitsubishi 4 cylinder engine. It's Porsche and it's a flat 6, there are so many things different about assembly with these things.

      It's good to see other engine though.. and apart from the special tools needed it was pretty straightforward
