The Altar Billies are a trio from Orange County California fronted by guitarist/vocalist Michael W Stand. Rounding out the group are Johnny X on upright and Chuck Cummings on Drums. The group covers many classics hits, as well as newly penned originals.
The fellas have been playing all over Southern California for coming up to 10 years now. They've enjoyed such venues as the Anaheim House of Blues, The Observatory in Costa Mesa, Orange Street Fair, Silverado Canyon concert series, as well as many clubs in the OC area. They have also opened several times for local OC icon Big Sandy, as well as for Lee Rocker of the Stray Cats..
The group has released several singles recorded live at NRG studios in Hollywood (recording studio for such acts as No Doubt and John Fogerty). Both "Hold on" and "You Can't Look Up, when you're Look'n Down" are available on itunes and on youtube via the "Altar Billies CZcams Channel."
In 2014 they released their first full length project: "Head'n Out West" Each song on "Head'n out West" is a testament to the band's firm believe in God, family and country. There is more to this group than meets the eye, as this 15 song musical adventure sought to establish the group as a viable and serious rockabilly/ Americana act. "Head'n out West" brings plenty to the table and more, in a "Spirit of lightening" that will surely keep you rock'n, dance'n, shake'n and move'n.
2016 found the fellas hitting the trail once again with their latest release: “Long, Long Road.” With this project the group has fine-tuned their sound so that it is “as sharp as a tack.” “Long, Long Road” finds Michael W expanding his songwriting skills to incorporate aspects of swing jazz with songs such as “Hot,” “Tumbleweed,” and “Hot (Big Band Version).”
The title of the project, “Long, Long Road,” not only reflects the idea of staying the course and finishing strong, but reflects the “long” hours invested into the making of this project.

It's a great big rolling steamer one that everyone knows! It was born from the ALC (American Locomotive Company) exactly 60years ago! It's-a many years of history out rolling in the sun, it's the UP 4014 and his new pride time's begun! From the display that it was left just for people to look and see, it was brought for preservation in the year 2014! It's a 6,000 horse power beast out shining in 2019, it's the UP's big boy now joining the Union Pacific Fleet.
It's bound for El Paso, Fort Hancock, Sierra Blanca, and Marfa, it's heading off to more destinations so come see it in person with me! From the echo in the canyons you can hear his whistle blow, it's the UP's big boy and it's a-pullin' right on through!
