Very interesting. What increases the causes of fermentation that might eat up/remove nutrients? What labs might our Dr do for which metabolites? I had done SCD and helped quite abit. Elaine G(SCD) mentioned bacteria that make thiaminase so lowers our thiamine! What bacteria lower B12?

I have this problem but it's not PA. I have no ileocaecal valve or terminal ileum after surgery for an intussusception. So not only no part of the bowel necessary for absorption, but bacterial backtracking into the small bowel due to no ileocaecal valve. This has led to a no win situation for gut inflammation & SIBO, & now, some years down the line, I seem to be collecting autoimmune disorders. 😢

I’m in the US and think I have this. I’m not sure how to get a Dr to prescribe B12 shots.

What if appendix has been removed? Myself and my Dad have this and we both had our appendix removed.

Just stumbled across this video and this is what I strongly believe is the root cause of my PA. Had acute appendicitis and an appendectomy in 2014. Three years later (approximate length of time liver stores b12), I was diagnosed deficient. Seems like a strong coincidence.

How can overgrowth in the LARGE bowels cause issues with B12 absorption when B12 gets absorbed in the small bowels?

    • @cannamorecamping5029

Those bacteria are growing in the small bowel for whatever reason. They shouldn't be there but the overgrowth in the large bowel just shows that something is not working as it should.

Methyl B12 is always best. I inject daily, not through IV.
