It is why I'd like to remind everyone how blessed they are and how we take it all for granted. If you feel that God has not blessed you, just remember that you can see, hear, and walk. You can see the faces of your loved ones, a sunrise and sunset, the beauty of the ocean and the moon, etc. The blind can see nothing. You can hear the wind and the rain, the words "I love you", your favourite music which many couldn't imagine living without. How many of us come to miss the sound of the voices of our loved ones when they're gone? The deaf hear nothing.
The fact that you can walk to your mailbox is a gift. You can dance, and walk your daughter down the aisle at her wedding. The wheelchair bound and paraplegic cannot walk or stand up. Why else do we cry or feel joy seeing these people being gifted with those things we've had all of our lives? It seems to be the only time we remember how much of a blessing those things truly are. There is so much that we have been blessed with that we take for granted. Man is often a truly ungrateful lot. We count ourselves cursed when we were born with gifts that others weren't.
We look at what we call the "less fortunate" and we ask "why do they deserve this?" I think we ought to look at ourselves and ask "Why do I deserve all that I have?" How can we say that God hasn't blessed us in our lives? The only reason you will call someone cursed is because you yourself have been blessed, isn't it? How is it that when we see the loss of others, we do not then consider all that we have been freely given? It may be said that those that have not do not deserve it. But I contend that those of us that have don't deserve it either. Perhaps the next time you are gathered together with your friends and family, when you are looking at all of their faces, and hearing their voices, that you might be more thankful.
And when you stand on your feet to hold them and hug them before you leave, count yourself blessed. You did not have to have all that you possess. You did not earn those things; They were given to you freely.
The gift of hearing is a glorious thing. Congratulations young lady.

😊 so true. My friends kid when he was younger. We use to sign. But soon as he got his hearing aids fitted. I came out and said "glad you got them finally fitted! I so glad I can't be arsed to sign no more (winding him up)" he reply without skipping abeat "gosh, your voice is terrible!! It's like nails on a chalkboard!!!" Even though he never heard the sound before. 😂

Will the excitement really last forever? Probably not, but then it wouldn't be special if it lasted forever, it would be ordinary...that's how we know when something is special, because we have it for a time that we can differentiate from the time we don't have it (can be 5 minutes or 5 years)...will she always want to hear, to have her ears turned on? Probably not, but she'll get to choose, and that is above special, it's somewhere between miraculous, priceless, and a blessing, still with the chance of becoming deliciously ordinary, because there is nothing wrong with ordinary, there is much to value even there...
