    Up right rows have often been quoted as dangerous and the general recommendation is that you don't lift your elbows past shoulder height in order not to force your shoulders into a mechnically disadvantaged position which can lead to injury. It does seem as though Doug is raising his elbows higher than shoulder. I do recall the recommendation around up right rows was for when using a barbell, but it did not strictly say so. Does this recommendation stand only for barbell, then?

      PPL split is just a way to organise prioritisation so as long as ure selecting other exercises around it that don't involve the same muscle action to avoid interference then i don't think it matters

    I do not understand why people say “side laterals.” Lateral means to the side.
    Do we hear people saying, “unilateral side exercises?” No, we don’t, because that sounds stupid and redundant. Just to be clear, I am not calling anyone stupid for saying “side laterals.”

      To differentiate them from bent laterals -- also, because they're called both "side raises" and "lateral raises"

    • @AngryOscillator
      @AngryOscillator Před 3 lety

      Side raises for the lateral head.... side laterals is shorter.... but then so is 'lateral raises'.... I've never really thought about that before. Damn it, this is forever gonna bug me now!

    Is it important that the elbows are bent on the lateral raises for the joints or is the weight light enough that it doesn’t matter?

    • @drip369
      @drip369 Před 2 lety +1

      If the weight is light enough it really doesn't matter but it is good to practice not having that kind of leverage because when the weight gets heavier, you don't want to put that kind of stress on the joint when all of the tendons end up on the sides of the elbow during the movement. Get use to the slight bend since treating lightweights like heavy weights so heavy weights move like light weights is great to learn on all exercises
