- The beautiful Orphic Hymn to the thundering one. A fascinating alternative to the conventional view of Zeus, this hymn allows us to see why the high lord of Olympus would have been praised in the ancient world.

Hey there. Can you provide some sources on the correct pronounciation of Zeus Name in ancient greek? Your inserted "d" is unclear to me... Thank you very much
Also interesting is the spelling of the readers letter φ. He is reffering to it as a soft "p". I learned to read it as an "f". May you have hints for this decision kind sir? Best regards
Hi, yes, in Ancient Greek zeta was pronounced [zd] or [sd] in the classical period. It later simplified to [z].
It later became an f, but was originally an aspirated p sound: that is, a p with a puff of air, as it tends to be pronounced when it stands alone at the beginning of words in American English.
@@AncientLiteratureDude Thank you so much! Your ὦ sounds very much like "Om". I nowhere found a source. Can you please provide some sources for us to study? Also for the Hymns and other stuff, this would be so helpful if we can get more educational material in the video description. I would very much appreciate.
