    Well not just that, but stats don't matter as much, as you can increase them, and you have 3 slots for keyblades. This means you can run a less than optimal keyblade for most encounters and have 2 fully transformed ones in reserve for the boss, a strategy i used quite often, usually with the kingdom key as the one i run around with for it's singular transformation, making it more justified to let run out after fights, and giving me 3 different limits at the end, allowing for adaptability. Honestly i hope they further expand upon this with more single stage key blades and even some 3 stage one's, like say ot goes from base, to first form, second form then third, changing the moveset on each stage. Perhaps we could unlock stuff to further extend the time in saod stages, with a side quest reward for infinite form gadge, like the infinite magic one in kh3.

    Keyblade Transformations are cool, I just hated that they were blocked behind situation commands. If it was more meter based like Devil Trigger or KH2 Forms so I can use them freely on the fly, I would've loved them even more than forms.

    • @FireStarJutsu
      @FireStarJutsu Před 3 měsíci

      If it was a DT system, they'll probably have a shared DT pool, but the way they are now, you can activate 3 of them simultaneously with each having a separate cooldown. You can freeze the current cooldown by switching to another keyblade.
      So what I did throughout my playthrough was use a keyblade till I get the transformation, switch, use 2nd keyblade till transformation, do the same with the 3rd, then now you have 3 transformed keyblades together and you can switch between them essentially making them like the style switching in DMC.
      Worth noting that in Critical mode, you have 2 exclusive abilities that make the transformations way better:
      * Critical Recharge - Your situation command gauge will fill faster while your MP is recharging.
      * Critical Converter - Attraction commands no longer appear, and instead filling your command gauge will always result in a form change (keyblade transformation).

    • @TheSCPStudio
      @TheSCPStudio Před 4 měsíci +1

      It’s not RNG lol, it takes the same amount of damage to activate the situation command for it every time. You can activate them on ‘command’ by activating the form change before a major fight and swap to another keyblade since forms are stored when they’re not being used…
      It’s effectively the same system as a drive gauge my dude. But instead of waiting for enemies to drop orbs that slowly tick up the drive bar, you’re doing damage and ticking up the formchange bar at a consistent rate, which is WAY more intuitive for fluid combat.

    Don’t know if this is an unpopular opinion or not but I always preferred formchanges to drive forms; they’re functionally similar, with small groups of each transformation being part of one “form” (with the exception of second, light, dark, double, and ultimate) but the transformations do a lot more to alter your moveset, Wisdom Form and Final Form changes things a lot, but the rest just felt like buffs. Furthermore, it’s a lot harder to cheese fights as you can’t enter a battle with a form already charged up like in KH2, you have to do enough in the fight to earn the formchange.
    Also, there’s no more random chance Antiform, another plus!

    • @DADA-yt1pt
      @DADA-yt1pt Před 3 měsíci

      I agree. I love having 3 Keyblade Transformations of my choosing on standby and even if a number of the form changes are similar to one another, I still love the diversity and some of the stuff you can pull off with them. Like skating around after switching from the Blizzard Claws Form Change, or creating clones with Mirage Staff with the finisher resembling KH2 Trinity Limit, or preforming extremely fast and snappy combos with the Light, Dark or Double Forms, or just using a giant Frying Pan against enemies.
      Also, this doesn't relate to utility, but I'm glad that abilities like Double Flight and Glide are no longer locked behind Drive Forms. As much as I love Drive Forms and while I do think they have overall more diversity considering that each one feels different in both combat and magic, constantly grinding so that you can have access to the best version of your growth abilities (Which you need to get through the Cavern of Remembrance) is pretty tedious and annoying.

    Unfortunately they acted more as command styles, than actual Keyblade Transformations.
    Kh2 and Re:Coded have the ability based systems we love in KH games, and 3 DOES do that which is lovely.
    However the forms associated with each Keyblade Transformation, feel like as if someone decided to make Zero Sugar versions of each available drive form.
    The only improvement, was Rage form over anti.
    THAT is a genuine buff that I can appreciate from three.
    Rage Form isn’t the worst.
    Guardian is.
    The main issue I have with Keyblade transformations, not to dissuade your argument, is that we had only iirc the guns/launchers, the hammers/drills, claws, shields, ice blade skates, yo-yos, a lance/flag, and after that it’s like… pseudo drives after that.
    I mean.. Second Form (and its variants), Rage Form, Everafter’s Elemental Form, Light Form, Dark Form, Dual Form, Nanomachine’s blitz form, Ultimate Form… those all feel very drive-y… but as I said, zero sugar.
    I have an issue with it, that we can’t exactly mix and match and utilize whatever unique form with whichever unique transformation… we’re given sets of 2s. And essentially told to break the game’s exploration before the second to last encounter sets before the game ends.
    I hard agree, concept wise they were cool and MUCH needed since LW was what showed how far they could go early on.
    But now, we really can’t do much aside from using the “oh this is red hammer, this is yellow hammer” or “this is blue guns, these are yellow guns”.
    Just, a teensy gripe.
    TLDR; Good argument, however it’s limited beyond the idea of it.

    Honestly my only criticism with these transformations is that the _act_ of transforming not only does more damage than the combos or after effects themselves {possibly due to the transformations counting as a tick to both combo boosts but resets after the pause}
    But more importantly you get _zero_ i frames.
    Got stuck in ansem's mega dark ball of destruction and darkness and death doing a transformation?

    Imo KH1 was just progression based which felt really good, which wasn't the case in kh3 because of upgrades but you had more build freedom so I guess it's just personal preferences as always

    I like keyblade transformations, I just want them to be tied to a gauge like drive forms. So it's more tactical if you use them and not just, hit them activate hit them even more

    • @TheSCPStudio
      @TheSCPStudio Před 4 měsíci

      How is it not tactical? The form doesn’t go away when you don’t have the keyblade equipped. So just activate the form prior to whatever fight is happening and then switch to it whenever you want to during that fight???

    • @demp11
      @demp11 Před 4 měsíci

      @@TheSCPStudio that's true I mean I was switching them too. But what I really meant was the emergency aspect. If your low on health and have no MP you can still use drive form recover everything and get some extra damage too. With keyblade transformations you don't recover anything, just better attacks and in some even really good defense abilities. So you end up always using them, which isn't bad but you lose the emergency aspect, the on a clutch recovering when almost dying.
      I mean leave keyblade transformations in but give us at least 1 or 2 different forms to use at a last resort. Keyblade transformations probably then need to be nerfed a bit with their damage output, but I still think it would be fun with even more combat options.

      The form change is inherent in the keyblade itself from the moment they use it. You don’t get new keyblades, you get new keychains, which are what alter the keyblade forms. Sora’s been witnessing form changes since the very beginning.
