The fact they nerfed such a badass looking keyblade like Oblivion while simultaneously buffing Divine Rose to the point it mirrors the ultima weapon still has me screaming inside to this day, Oblivion was my baby back in my PS2 kid days
KH1fm in general is filled with a lot of baffling decisions, but at least the new abilities were nice. Also, Unknown is such an awful fight with his undodgeable roulette move.
FInal Mix made me legit hate Divine Rose.
i never played the original kh1 as we had kh2 on our old ps2 but i was actually super disappointed to find out that oblivion is weaker than divine rose. it makes no sense to make a disney keyblade stronger than an iconic and original one.
I know right. I get to the Final Rest about to fight Ansem and I'm like "Okay let's take my favorite Keyblade in the game into this fight. Let's go Oblivi...oh right...they nerfed it in Final Mix....Sigh...OKAAAYYYY DIVINE ROSE IT IS...GAAAWDDD!!!"
Although I have gained some new found love for Divine Rose since it's been shown to be Lauriam's Keyblade.
@@Thisisthegreatestatofalltime I think the only way to dodge it is to spam Strike Raid.

I cannot stop laughing at how Yuffie cartwheels towards Leon and then immediately gets hard smack yeeted by the Keyblade.
LMAO
or when he's just smacking Leon and she takes 2 steps forward and gets smacked in the face
The three wishes bit was hilarious 😂

@@dominicunderwood4911 bruh I dont even use 4chan lmao also I use reddit but at least I dont go on the wack ass subreddits like memes
Jungle King was just as good lmao
Um guys, what's 4chan?
I don't wanna hear any Kingdom Key shit talking, it's got a great design because it's not too simple but not too complex.
It's very much iconic due to how it's unique on a physical sense.
Now having said that, the best keyblade is Oblivion
Would you say it’s….
*Simple And Clean?*
@@OhFrittata :o
The best Keyblade is Rejection of Fate
5:41 the way how you looked at the man as he fell, then turned and said "fuck it." had me cracking up.
I cat tell if that "magic blows in this game" was sarcastic or not, but I sure hope it was.
The worst about Crabclaw is that you visit Halloween Town after Atlantica, probably with Crabclaw equipped. And I couldn't think of any keyblade that would fit worse into Halloween Town
ong
I always go halloween town then atlantica so that doesnt matter to me.
However the halloweentown keyblade is just better than crabclaw so crabclaw never gets used
Yeah but that’s just a thing about every Disney keyblade annoyingly
Magic is cracked in this game bruh. Stop and gravity are crazy good. Great vid tho
Just found out how Stopra is sweet myself. Truly it and Gravity are the best offensive spells. Why Stopra and not Stop? Stop only affects one target, not multiple like Stopra/ga do.
He never said it was bad in this alone. He said it was bad *compare* to KH2 especially KH3
Both Oathkeeper and Oblivion are by far my personal favorite Keyblades in most of the games they’re in. KH3 gives them some competition with the Wheel of Fate and Ultima Weapon.
Magic is OP as hell in this game, and even if you didn't choose staff at the beginning, if you go pick up Spellbinder before you go to Atlantica your magic will be so powerful that you can get through almost every non-boss encounter in 10-20 seconds by spamming fire. Consider the number of MP orb-dropping enemies who can be killed in one hit and you can keep it up for dozens of encounters in a row without having to use recovery items. If you hate the combat in Atlantica, Spellbinder is an absolute savior.
Yea, I'm finishing a proud mode run with a magic build rn, and Atlantica was so easy it was laughable. Literally just spammed magic through the whole fucking world, and didn't even get bored by that shitty level design that made me wanna puke in my first run of the game.
I’m going through proud mode rn for my plat trophy and don’t mind grinding but always leave Atlantic last because of the annoying combat lol but thanks for the tip about spellbinder forgot I can obtain it really early and magic is nasty when you got mp stacked from what I remembered and stop last’s longer when you have a higher Mp count
I need to do another playthrough where I bother which magic because you can do some insane shit with stuff like gravity, stop, and aero that isn't possible in any later games besides the command deck ones
You need to leave it for just before the reveal scene occurs, as afterwards the after rescue stats for enemies take effect and actually make Ursula and the rest of the enemies in Atlantica much stronger than if you took on it before the rescue.
“I’m working with a metal chocobo myself. You’ll be impressed until your disappointed” that got me more that it should
Oblivion is the direct counterpart to Oath keeper and appears in all the games it does. It represents Sora's friendship to Riku
I like being mean to Roxas in 2 since hes using those keyblades that represent my bonds to Riku and Kari. I whip out bond of flame, representing a bond with Axel. 2 can play at that game Roxas. Id whip out a key for Xion too but, err...I dont remember her >_>
Yep!
@@koheikyouji Oblivion and Oathkeeper can also be seen as representing Roxas's bonds with Axel and Xion
@@dakotadoyle7573 That doesnt really work because the keyblade changes its form based on the 'keychain' thats attached to it.
Kairi definitely did not make 2 charms.
@@koheikyouji Where did I say that Sora got Oblivion from Kairi
I am pretty certain that Magic is ridiculously storng in KH1
It is with a proper build or on lower difficulties.
@@xXLunatikxXlul That is the exact same thing you can say about Strength Builds, except str builds are only really good on bosses.
@@grandbean9031 Strength builds are still good for crowd control, just not nearly as good magic crowd control is. But my point was, magic is much more powerful on lower difficulties, due to how weak enemies and their defenses are. On Proud or Critical modes, however, elemental res and HP are increased, exponentially. Strength builds are good on bosses because of the stagger, but gravity and stop are very notable spells against bosses!:)
@@xXLunatikxXlul I too believe, in magic build supremacy.
Magic builds are what makes doing a lv1 run possible in kh they are rally good.
Oathkeeper being #1, SPOT ON!!
"Given that magic blows in this game..."
Magic is legitimately the most broken thing in this game.
Me: Did this man not equip magic builds just to Ragnarok spam
Every spell but fire and thunder is really good, and those two aren't even bad just not as good as the rest.
...compared to KH2 and KH3 which is true.
Yeah. I mean, have you seen the Stop/Gravity combo on Dragon Maleficent?
Magic in 2 and 3 is completely broken, reflect in KH2 is just stupidly strong. KH1 is def the weakest of the 3 in terms of Magic.
>Kingdom key dead last
>Thinking that magic blows in this game
Big oof.
Yeah I like did a double take after that. Magic is fuckin B r o k e.
The Oathkeeper bit has me dying. Omg
Honestly the bonus Heartless aren't bad when they're just challenging fights (Neo Shadow, Chimera, Pot Scorpion til you get Aeroga) rather than tests of patience with bad gimmicks (Sniper Wilds, Jet Balloons, GRAND GHOST). I would love to see you make a list of them just to hear roasts on the more annoying ones.
On the subject of the actual video I never use Wishing Star, while my favorite is probably One Winged Angel, mostly just for the cool factor in its look.
Sad that Divine Rose took Oblivion's Spot, didn't deserve the nerf.
I'm starting to think SunburnedAlbino had a crush on Kairi when he was a kid.
The Ultima Weapon part, just fucking thank you. Because I HATE the new materials you need to get it
As should everyone.
The first time is played 1.5 it DOUBLED my playtime trying to get it.
These days I can do it much faster but my god it is NEVER fun to do so.
I hope you understand that we all are expecting the rest of the series after this gem of a video lol 😂 loved it KH is my favorite series keep up the great content
Great vid, I'd love to see you cover the other game's Keyblade! 😀

Magic...'blows' in KH 1?
When KH 1 technically had the most spell variety including Aero and Stop as well as an unique magic gauge that allowed for more magic to be cast compared to every other KH (Except KH 3 non critical with Micky's accessory and full Magic Thrift but that's a special case)
Ok imma be honest. I still use metal chocobo (or however the hell you spell it) its one of my favorate keyblades in the game. Hell, that keyblade was the one I used to defeat sepheroth. and not even because of final fantasy. And to put salt in my wound I also use spellbinder. Again cause its one of my faves. But im aware this your personal opinoin and I respect that. Love your videos dude! Cant wait to see your opinoins of keyblades in some of the other games!
magic is absurdly busted in KH1 especially if you take advantage of shorthopping which is really fun to get a rhythm for
deadass i wishfully hope for KH1 blizzard to return in a later game cuz shorthop shotgun blastin is fun as fuck
Kingdom key is underrated it might be a simple key but it's much more than that it's both good looking and there's something about it that makes me feel so much nostalgia
"Based on previous ranked videos from Sunburned Albino, I guess that there might be something controversial"
"And the worst keyblade: the Kingdom Key!"
WTF Man??
I hate how you can’t get Oblivion until the second visit to Hollow Bastion (I think)
you are correct
Yeah it sucks because that keyblade is so cool but it so quickly gets outclassed by Divine Rose
i ended up missing the chest with oblivion and when i finally opened it while leveling up i was like

@@Jolene007 only in FM. In the OG it was so much better than Divine Rose.
@@xXLunatikxXlul I know
Love these videos! Keep being amazing bro!
The Spellbinder Keyblade actually gets a lot of use in Level 1 runs, so its value is somewhat improved for me because of that.
Also, Metal Chocobo used to have higher raw strength compared to Olympia but they nerfed it for some reason, it’s a shame.
Unless you doing a level 1 with a default weapon challenge achievement like The Completionist did.
A self defeating argument. What if you aren't a masochist and don't ever want to play LV1
@@Monty2289 That what The Completionist did on Kingdom Hearts 1 final mix review on achievements. So i not into the achievements it bragging rights that all.
I’m still mad that we still have yet to see Kairi wielding the Oathkeeper
"Big things come in small packages" Love that line.
It's downright ridiculous how much they buffed Divine Rose. Between it and Olympia there are so many obsoleted Keyblades it's almost silly
Pumpkin head keyblade looks good for a Halloween themed keyblade so awesome looking
I finally caught a upload early 👌🏿👌🏿 love your videos
Doesn’t Oblivion appear in every game Oathkeeper appears in? Also, whoever rebalanced Kh1 for its fm release really hated long keyblades.
3:55 Okay, that really cracked me up TBH.
Sora in COM: *Literally forgets that Kairi exists*
Kairi in KH2: Right back at ya buckaroo
Yoo you actually did it! Sweet video Albino!
You ain't got to roast Tarzan like that. 🤣🤣
I went from like lvl 54 to 88 from grinding items for the ultima weapon...
Bro love the videos, I hope to see a bbs boss ranking sometime in the future.
Also I was in the same boat, thinking that magic sucks. But I recently found out that it scales off of your Max MP. I gave up the staff, and even then. I realized this after I completed hollow bastion. With 18max MP, you can litterally 2 shot groups of defenders, and 1 shot most mob enemies. There are obviously a few exceptions and it doesn’t seem broken against the few bosses that I faced, but if you play KH1 again, try a staff run and see. This paired with diamond dust/spellbinder will surprise you. And the ripple wave finisher scales off your MP as well, just decimating everything.
Bro plz do more of these because your content is awesome yo :)
The three wishes keyblade looks good it looks like a genie lamp in form of a keyblade looks really cool
Alright yep great video I’m gonna have to see the same ranking for every KH title now thank you.
I feel like you didn't give Oblivion enough credit and mostly dumped on it for the stat balances. No mention of the fact that it symbolizes Sora's connection to Riku in the same way Oathkeeper does to Kairi. I know the KH1 narrative gives Oathkeeper a little more attention but this is one of the few clear places where foresight was applied in the design of KH1.
I always used oblivion as soon I got it. Kid me was not patient enough to grind ultima key 😂
When I was younger, (when I finally learned that you could change weapons) I always thought that you'd get whole new keyblades. It took me years later after playing the game to realize that when you get a new keyblade, you're only changing the keychain that changes the keyblade's appearance and power. It makes so much more sense to me now than the characters having giant metal keys lying around and no one questioning it until Sora arrives.
It might be interesting to point out that Oathkeeper’s swing affect used to be bright red in vanilla KH1, and Oblivion’s was more blue than black and blue in the original as well, kind of symbolizing their duality.
Kingdom Key is my favourite. After Master Defender. Simple is better. Also always a big fan of canonical weapons and will try and use them if possible
Still waiting for this man to rank limit cut bosses
Loved this video!
Oathkeep should have just became Sora’s default keyblade from 1 onwards. I am partial to kingdom key for nostalgia reasons and because I think the teeth making the crown was design genius, but like you said, the symbolism speaks for itself.
My favorite was always Oath keeper cause it's pretty. Fairy Harp though, I was like 8 and my older cousin told me that by using it my tinker bell summon was stronger and so were my healing items/magic.
Ngl this was a solid ranking
I feel like Kingdom Hearts Final Mix heavily overestimates how important keyblade length is later in the game.
They clearly expect the player to consider using a statistically weaker Keyblade just because it is longer.
In both instances where you unlock two keyblades of differing length at almost the same exact time they went out of their way to make sure the shorter of the two has better stats.
Making Metal Chocobo give a point of Strength to Olympia already takes what was a lopsided relationship and make it literally not even a contest.(-1 MP was already debatable not worth it even for the 1 point strength increase) I'd say FM Olympia would even have a strong case as an endgame keyblade if it wasn't for Divine Rose due to its 10 Strength, 90 Recoil(shared with only Metal Chocobo, One Winged Angel and The Ultima Weapon), +2 Critical Bonus and no MP penalty.
Then you have what Divine Rose did to every other endgame keyblade, just because it was the shortest. Even when scoring a critical hit there are only 3 other keyblades in the game that can match or surpass Divine Rose's non-critical hits, those three being One Winged Angel(because it is built to deal hilarious critical hit damage), Oblivion due to its +1 Critical Bonus making it a tie, and The Ultima Weapon because nothing is allowed to surpass Ultima at anything without having some serious downsides in this game.
Haha that three wishes line is genius, perfect delivery too
Now I'll be able to tell the name of 10 keyblades when they ask me
I know it’s known as one of the most hated blades in the series, but I did miss your commentary on Wishing Star. Surprisingly I like it with how awful it’s design looks lol.
My favorite is also Oathkeeper; you can’t beat the symbolism and connection it brings.
Oblivion and oathkeeper keyblades are the best looking out of all the keyblades especially when Roxas uses them
Lionhart is my favorite to use in og kingdom hearts
I like how Kairi gives Sora the good luck charm for luck, but sora is like thanks! And proceeds to equip it to kingdom key 😂.
SA, out of sheer curiosity, did you attempt a "ya burnt" joke after the burn rant instead of saying "hapless idiot, woah gottem" ?
Keyblades in order you get them, since you'll just use whatever is the best at the time.
Kingdom key
Jungle king
3 wishes
(Lucky star is fully optional and easily missable.)
You'll either grab crabclaw from atlantic or skip using it all together in favor of doing halloween town with 3 wishes for the sake of getting pumpkinhead.
Fairy harp (don't lie it's great stats wise)
We all ignore the metal chocobo since olympia should be unlockable by now.
And we stand by olympia for all of however long we feel like delaying hallowbastion's first and it's second trip to grab the divine rose.
Prepare to use said rose until we get something with better strength, aka ultima weap or 1 winged angel.
Or if your a magic guy the instant you get spell binder stick with it until you get a keyblade with +2 MP and a better strength stat since oathkeeper, lady luck, diamond dust, and the ultima weapon are your best choices.
Metal chocobo looks like a Lego piece or a piece from big hero 6 but not gonna lie it doesn't look bad
Thank you!! I knew I wasn't the only one who thought Kingdom Key was the worst. I was just never fond of it.
"it reminds me of how awful underwater combat is in atlantica"
me: come on, it's not bad if you know what you are doing.
Also me, in atlantica: *DEEPFREEZE DEEPFREEZE DEEPFREEZE*
pd: yes, that actually works and make atlantica combat non-tedious
Jungle King is actual, literal, canonical trash.
Meanwhile, Three wishes CRUSHED Ansem-Riku in my "No-Continue, Speedrun" run
Kingdom Key is the OG and favorite is Two become One
A kh2 one would be epic
I did like the Metal Chocobo, mainly from the look of it, kinda industrial design. Well I have poor taste I've come to terms with it.
I think that was my biggest issue with most KBs in 1FM. Most of them look stubby and toy like. Like I know they were just starting out in KH but they could have tried a bit harder on the designs, Even the OWA is a jank design and I'm usually a fan of the sword-like Keyblades
I disagree with that magic comment, but otherwise this is a good list for a strength based playthrough. I would always just rock Olympia for most the late game
I hate how it looks but spellbinder is so good. Gravity and stop are so genuinely good
The weapons in kh1 are very odd unlike KH2 where it's a bit more straightforward where the best keyblades are 5 and 6 strength weapons
In 1 it depends on weather you need magic and magic is very powerful dispite seeming not so much (unlike 2 particularly magnet and reflect and 3 has it's stupidly powerful magic) other then areo which is obviously useful and cure
The ultima weapon only took me 1.5 hours to make 😅
All you gotta do is play the game and by the time you get to TEOTW you just gotta grind a bit.
Did anyone else choose keyblades almost purely off aesthetics?
Iron chocobo was a shame man . It looked so cool but just falls so far behind
Metal Chocobo is the best Key Blade in the Series for Reach Alone.
Do you know how comforting it is to know that I don’t need the Ultima weapon to beat that game? I feel like I could never beat the final level in the original mix because I did not have the Ultima.
gosh YES the addition of the special heartless drives me up the wall. at first i thought it was cool "oh new heartless" but they all suck to fight and the item drop rates just. no.
the kh2 and 3 challenge specific items required for ultima weapon are better than the unique heartless, but i always preferred og kh1's more simply synthesis even if it was a lil too easy
1:14
Oddly enough, I recall Metal Chocobo to be stronger than Olympia in the original KH. Not sure why. But I found it pretty useful regardless until unlocking Oathkeeper, then Oblivion.
It was in the original version of the game, at least in terms of the strength bonus. Final Mix, which is the version used for this list, switched the strength of Olympia and Metal Chocobo, in addition to a number of other nerfs and buffs to different keyblades.
Yeah, it's a shame Divine Rose got buffed. I always liked Oblivion more. Of course it stopped bothering me once I got Ultima Weapon. Whatever happened to the days Oblivion was the strongest keyblade besides Ultima Weapon? At least it's got a kickass form in KH3.
I don't mind it having gotten a buff. I didn't see it as meaningfully different from Olympia in the original. The buff it got was overkill, though. Giving it and Oblivion a single extra strength point would have been more appropriate.
In the third game, I only use the kingdom key because most of the other look kinda dumb. I know it’s like the least strong but idv
Damn we must not have been playing the same game if you think magic sucks.
Jungle king isn't good but it's also not bad and I'm talking on looks only
Oblivion is my all time favorite Keyblade in the series
The Olympia keyblade looks good just good not great but good
KH2FM next?
Keyblade ranking hype
I agree with what you said about the ultima weapon. It's a bitch to get in the final mix and not even worth the grind by the time you even can get it.
Are we gonna see a boss ranking for nier replicant? 👀👀
I want to see that too!
Olympia was actually nerfed not buffed. It went from x4 crit damage to x2 and they nerfed it crit rate to be average. Critical Damage is is calculated by adding an additional strength stats to the final hit (since final hits are the only thing that can crit. The only expectation being Slapshot) making the +1 to strength really mean nothing. Especially when you learn that there's a damage cap 😅
Example of why One -Winged Angel sucks. Once it crits all it's doing is added +13 strength to your final hit. But since there's a damage cap that means your critical hits are also capped making that bonus completely worthless and making it all about strength stat in general. Crits don't matter if your base strength sucks ass.
OG Olympia had a crazy x4 Crit Damage and Increased Crit chance meaning it could potentially hit damage cap before you're even a high level. It's pretty absurd how OP it was.
Also way to stay consistent.
"Magic Blows in this game"
*Puts Oathkeeper as Number 1* 👏
*Slays Mobs with one hit*
"I love it even though it's weak"
I'm convinced I'm being gaslighted
Crab claw just looks like a kids toy put together it would be good for a kid I guess but as an adult I find it terrible
Lady luck spellbinding keyblade looks really bad but for valentines day maybe it would get a pass but not in general
The ultima weapon was truly good looking but not worth creating
Divine rose was a terrible looking keyblade in kingdom hearts but it was the best one to use
Let see you beat Yozora in Kingdom Hearts 3 on a critical difficulty with level 1 default weapon with pro codes on challenge.
When you used metal cho as your main as soon as you got it lol
