I did a deep dive into why most of the population is so unhealthy. Once you realize the obesity rate in America is 42% it sparks your curiosity. I first looked at some interesting case studies of people who purposely ate nutritionally poor foods but still maintained a calorie deficit and not only did they lose weight, they got healthier. Everything from their cholesterol to their BMI improved.
Then I went down the seed oil rabbit hole to figure out if it's as bad as most people are claiming it to be.. Turns out it's not but that doesn't mean I'm going to keep them in my diet.

Brother, I’ve been diggin’ on your channel for a minute because A. It is a well-researched/ no BS delivery of truly healthy and useful information and B. It is over-the-top hilarious. Glad to be in your fan-base!
Reliance on processed foods with sugar and seed oils is the key reason we’ve gotten to where we are. Whole foods, especially with proteins and fats, increases satiety and keep your hormones in check.
yea, after changing to whole foods and focusing on protein intake and cutting 90% of processed crap out i have dropped 18kg, more energy and never feel hungry. And i sleep much better. moral of the story is, food the government makes is to make you fat, slow and easy to control
Thank the military industrial complex for our dependence on junk food.
Seed oils are as bad, or worse than processed sugar. When I taste stuff like that now, I can taste just how bad and old they are.
@@RogueCylonhey aren’t tho….
Did you miss the part about the lack of evidence?
Now too much is too much.
But given the data, seems that as long as you don’t over-indulge, should mostly be fine.
That being said the satiety thing is a good point.
Although, if you compare them to better oils then no doubt they are bad by comparison.
But seemingly not as bad as they are made out to be.
And quite frankly if you inject most substances into a rat, it will likely die, because food goes into the mouth, not the vein.

I wish these videos were around when I was a teenager because all my PE teachers make me hate thinking about my health. But this isn't something I have to labor through. Love the videos!
Great video. A useful topic that adds to this one is pursuing basic needed nutrients before consuming exotics. Most people want to take something strange before making sure they’re getting enough potassium or magnesium.
There is a good reason for alot of American food is not allowed in many countries, being our process foods are actually toxic.
So true. I ate like a lord in Germany and France, stayed active. Lost weight. Especially true with real beer.
Europe have a lot stricter food regulations. A lot of unhealthy ingredients are banned here while they are not in the US.

For anyone who is still on the fence about his programs….
I was one of you who contemplated for almost a year while half a$$ing it through my workouts.
Don’t keep making excuses, just do it.
I bought the garage plan and can proudly state so far it has kicked my ass. Check your ego and realize this is more about pushing the muscle with perfect form over 1RM. I had to do week one 2 times due to this. Could barely get through 10-12 reps.
It is volume after volume. If you do get a plan, make sure you have someone available to help you wash your hair, cut up your food and other essentials as you won’t be able to pick up your arms when done.

Anyway, it was all good until the end, but once you decided to punch baby maker, I forgot what the video was about, so had to rewatch it.
Not regretting it.
You need to do more nutrition videos, great job!
Great video, once again 💯
Nutrition topics are always very important to discuss , the obesity problem has definitely gotten worse and you're right it is because people are eating more food than what their body needs food is being treated like an activity and not as nutrition
I fasted for 3 days and I didn't drop one 1lb. I went to Vegas and binged at Buffets and came home 4 lbs lighter. Our bodies are starving for the right nutrition. I feel like dieting is like the game of Tetris. You have to give the body the correct nutrients to feel satiated and the body says thank you and you start to burn what you eat.
@@igloozoo3771 but what is the right nutrition these days? Foods that were once considered healthy are now considered bad like nuts grains and beans for example even some veggies are being demonized now
I eat healthy I don't need junk food candy process stuff except for protein powders I guess tofu and tempeh chickpea flour and whole-grain flours would be considered processed but but I would think it's still healthier than eating fast food , I'm just trying to lose the last bit of body fat but at the end of the day I really don't know what is the best healthiest diet , I know I don't want to eat keto or carnivore that's for sure , I don't want to do intermittent fasting either I don't want the clock to tell me when to but I agree with everything in this video I hope more videos come out like this with helpful information
@@daysoftheboo We all have different bodies. Some people have high stored iron so a Carnivore Diet will probably be worse for them until they lower their iron levels. Some people have gallstones so will have a hard time digesting fats. Some people have low stomach acid so may need more ACV and Betaine HCL to digest the proteins, but then I think one needs to be careful of leaving the body in an acidic state and don't want the acids to go down to your intestines which is why I think a functioning gallbladder is needed for Bile to neutralize those acids. I am just guessing as I am not an expert in these things. Some people do fine on Vegetarian Diets although I personally would not be an advocate for plant only diets. Personally, I am intolerant to Whey and Plant protein powders so I get my protein from Meat, Fish and Eggs. I am intolerant to Milk and Yogurt, but I can tolerate Heavy Cream. I am intolerant to Olive Oil and other "healthy" plant based oils, but I can tolerate Butter and Coconut oil.
@@igloozoo3771 you have lactose intolerant? Is it really common that lots of people can't digest dairy? I would never do a carnivore keto diet myself it's not something I would enjoy, if it's true that the best diet is the one you can stick to long-term keto and carnivore wouldn't be it for me , I'm an omnivore but some days I will eat more meat than others , but I don't like meat at all I don't like the taste and texture but I believe it's healthy animal protein is more nutrient-dense and better absorbed than plant protein , and to get enough protein from plants you would have to eat lots of plants that would end up being lots of calories
, Like to get 30 g from beans I would have to eat like 500 calories worth of beans compared to beef or fish it would be less calories for the same amount of protein or more , but yeah everyone's different , I would rather be plant-based but I just don't think I could be healthy build muscle and bone density on a plant-based diet
@@igloozoo3771 Yes because prior/post fasting, did you manage your diet? For instance, did you eat junk food, or was foods high in nutrients? Very likely you didn't even think about those things, meaning a large part of the process was skipped or even failed. Knowledge is key in fasting, even a small glucose spike (like sugar in your coffee) can throw it off, ruining the whole process. We have many habits that we aren't conscience of, and food/drink intake is at the very top of that list.
i love these vids ryan thank you for the info
anecdotal story here: A while back I tried meal replacement powders. Stuff is...eh on flavor, but makes tracking calories easy. I started adding a scoop of protein powder to each serving to improve the flavor and because I didn't want to mix two drinks, and on most days I only managed 3 "servings" a day. Which, to my surprise is only 1500 calories. That seemed really strange to me, but I guess it shows just how little calories you actually consume if you spend 95% of your day sitting in a chair.
A lot of powders use soy isolates for protein. Isn't that basically the worst possible protein? Except protein from insects with chitin?
No offense but what is the end message of this anecdote? That you ate 1500 calories?
A lot of people like myself are insensitive to Protein Powder (whether beef, egg, milk or plant) and cause inflammation on the body. Ironically, I can tolerate Heavy Whipping Cream which lacks Protein, but for me provides satiating nutrition like no other. I stick to meats, eggs, salmon, sardines, chicken for my protein, but I will add full cream to my morning coffee and make full cream no sugar ice cream with a Ninja Creami at night for dessert and I still lose weight without "dieting" and feel great in the gym. Once I remove the cream from my diet, I feel like I need to compensate with another meal or snack which end up hurting me feel satiated and it makes intermittent fasting more difficult. The major markers for inflammation for me is skin eczema, ankle, elbow pain and stomach bloat. I get some of that with whey and casein and pea protein, but not with the animal based meat proteins or cream.
@@betweenyellowan_dred Only if you buy garbage. The protein involved is usually advertised in massive letters right on top of the packaging
Dude this is such golden information told in a hilarious manner. I really enjoyed this one. 💯🔥💪🏼

except in this video he says they aren't harmful and that calorie deficit is the most important aspect
Lol. You feel better? Great marker
Another masterpiece, super job. When I dumped seed oils and started to incorporate flax seed into my diet, my inflammation issues quickly lessoned. The key here is to get a coffee grinder, buy the seed and grind 2-3 tablespoons per serving when you use it. The seed will retain its value for a very long time but when ground it quickly begins to degrade. I am also going to start to incorporate hemp products. Are these seeds yummy delicious? I have to say no but you get used to them, it's not like you are eating a cat turd, they're not that bad. Whether a gritty smoothie or sprinkled on your veggies, or in you oatmeal, no big deal and so good for you.
Very good video, can you do a video on any vegetarian and vegan foods that would be great for the gym. Thanks.

Basically my biggest turn mentally and physically came when I started focusing more on nutrition. I started getting my minerals n vitamins everyday. A few servings of veggies, peanut butter n eggs a day. A no added sugar sports drink like body armor. Consistently getting enough potassium the hardest thing for me but i am getting there. Let me not forget optimize my sleep. U may not be able to get your hours in but u cN optimize the hours u get. I still get my sugar fix though but its not like it use to be. I still eat my no sugar ice cream, chocolate n whatnot but I just dont eat them everyday. If I do its in small portions. Plus I try to reward myself for not doing it.

No so much a calorie issue, but CARBS. I had an A1c of 7.5 last July, then 6 in November, 5.3 in March and 5.1 in April of this year. Dumped bread (anything with flour, grains), processed oils, pasta, rice, fruit juice (pop was a given), high glycemic fruits (pineapple, grapes, mango, etc. except berries). Was not overweight (188 at 6'1"), bu am back to 167#. Off BP and diabetic meds.
Replaced processed oils with avocado, pork rinds, bacon grease, butter, ghee, extra virgin olive oil
You sound like I do. No processed foods, sugars and oils. Just good natural oils like EVOO, Avocado, Ghee. No meds needed, and I’m aging backwards.

The studies you showed were evaluating conjugated linoleic acid. Just for reference, linoleic acid and conjugated linoleic are two completely different fatty acids that the body does not see as the same. Thank you for what you do.
Here's a SR of 13 cohort studies showing a reduction of CHD risk associated with the intake of seed oil linoleic acid.

Observational studies. Association is weak evidence. Observational studies consider a McDonald’s meal that includes fries, bun, seed oil mayonnaise, ketchup, and a soda, evidence that meat is causing CHD. No way it could be all the other crap right? I went on the Paleo diet for about 9 months. The core goal of Paleo is to exclude all foods that cause inflammation, so the primary targets to exclude besides the usual processed foods was anything to do with grass seeds. It's a best I've ever felt. Lacking caffeine was not a problem as I felt clear headed all day long. Weight just dropped off owing mostly to the fact that preparing paleo food was such a PITA that you'd rather go hungry half the time(lol).
Even though I now don't follow paleo I still use it as my guiding light, reducing non paleo foods and increasing those that were on the menu. Largely, it's worked.
WARNING : Another family I was aware of was also doing it at the same time. Their son, the poor scrawly little bastard would have bone broth for breakfast, even when he was away on camp the poor kid would have flasks of bone broth. Don't be THAT family.
I use paleo as well and meat and low starch vegs are my foundation. Dont understand why you consider it hard to throw some meat on a grill and steam some asperagus and mushrooms. Its a simple diet i think. If everyone would largely quit any food that contains grain, sugar, and seed oils there wouldnt be the health issues and weight issues that are so rampant.
@@GregariousAntithesis Ah yeah, I should have elaborated. I work in the CBD, and on weekends spend a lot of time around Ice Hockey rinks with a number of interstate trips.
Paleo is easier these days with lots of WFH, but if you head in to work unprepared the number of places that you can each from may be limited to just one.
When we went away for big tournaments we would have to get a room with a full kitchen and bring a bunch of mostly prepared foods with us.
Also, when you prepare food at home you have the luxury of time to get used to brands of food that work. Tamari rather than soy, etc. But when I was in the CBD, looking for food was a bit of an effort... so I just got sick of sashimi and BBQ chicken. You never know whats in salad dressing, is this olive oil or canola, etc, etc.
My wife went OS for 5 months this year, so for 5 months I ate off the BBQ...
i was paleo and used it as my framework for years. Best i can describe my current philosophy is "whole foods and caloric control"

@Ryanhumiston what is your calorie intake and maintenance?
I've recently severely reduced my intake of refined sugar and seed oils and increased fiber intake. I no longer bloat after every meal. Have good bowel movements and overall feel better. It's a lifestyle change that is so worth it.
Gut biome is super important for our overall well being and isn't discussed enough in the US.
