How to make FREE urban city street bases from trash

  • This week we look at how I go about creating my urban bases while adding DIY litter! This stuff is all pretty much free, really easy to do and best of all quick! When I'm painting up nearly 80 sculpts and wanting them to have custom, awesome bases I need them to not break the bank or the clock.
    If you're painting Zombicide, want your WH40K to look like they are on the streets, or any other miniature or game to look urban, hopefully this video is for you!
    Here are the print out posters I used in this video but there are lots more on the internet! www.google.com/search?q=28mm+...

    time saving suggestion: I cut out sections of regular garbage bags to make my mini ones, usually wrapped around a ball of aluminium foil or a rock and tied off with a bit of thin wire. Saves having to paint them.

    • @WatchItPaintIt
      @WatchItPaintIt  Před 3 lety +3

      I considered using a black bag myself but wondered if it’d look too contrasting to the miniature! Very real vs miniature. This is a very good tip though I bet it looks fine! I like the thin wire idea, I tried one of those pieces of wire you get that tie cables together but it was way too thick! I should have looked for even thinner shouldn’t I? Great tips though. I will try this myself!

    Fantastic, super creative, and very easy to follow. Remember everyone this is an example of all sorts of different methods, less can be more so don't do ALL of them on one base! Another idea, you could take a bit of aluminum, and fashion a printed road sign, or poster board may work. PVA the road sign to the poster board, wash it, use a toothpick for the sign holder, give it a slight bend? Give that a try!

    • @WatchItPaintIt
      @WatchItPaintIt  Před 3 lety +1

      I agree! The example has way more on that I put on any of the real minis! One or two is plenty normally :-)

    Just a tip if you accidentally dab a (natural fiber) brush into some active superglue - go swish it around in some nail polish remover real quick! Then give it the brush soap treatment to recondition it. I've saved a nice Kolinsky this way...not that I try to do this often!

  • @EliteC64
    @EliteC64 Před 3 lety +1

    Quick question I'm rebasing my 1st edition zombicide minis to match the 2nd editions bases so will be leaving about 1-2mm plastic under the feet to raise them up to 2nd editon height. Do you recon standard DIY wall filler with a bit of water and sand will work to get a concrete texture base effect like the Astroganite you used here?

    • @WatchItPaintIt
      @WatchItPaintIt  Před 3 lety +2

      A similar effect, yes. The grain of the sand in astrogranite is a little smaller than GW sand, but close. Wall filler can sometimes be brittle though. Maybe test it out on a scrap piece of plastic first.
