I have the check engine light, battery and EPC lights stay on when I turn the key half way but when I switch the engine on and let it idle they turn off. Is that a serious issue?
That is normal. As long as the epc light goes away when you turn key you are fine.
I’m pretty sure what you’re referring to is the lights turning on when you turn the car battery on, that happens because the car is given electric power but when you turn the ignition on the lights go away because they’re not an issue, that’s normal but as long as they go away when the car is on

@Blankman-jq6xu They are electric on newer cats, so they can run 20 000 miles and 200 000 miles. So no way to tell unless you see a bad leak.
@@IvansBikesBmws oh alright. I don't have any leaks. I'm at a loss as to why my epc light has come on 🤔 ...? I initially had 9 codes all emissions related. Random multiple cylinder misfires. Now it's saying only 3 misfires at cylinders 4 5 and 6. My plugs are new. The coil packs are not new. So I know I need to get those and swap them out...

Over the years, we changed two throttle body replacements, two throttle body plug replacements, we finally replaced the entire engine wiring harness. Fixed. The only thing left was the ECU. Wiring harness is $800 plus labor, $1400.

When I try to start my 2009 audi a4 2.0t the throttle body starts ticking so I took it out and seen that it smelled like gas so would that cause the car to not start if the sensor on the throttle body senses that the gas is pushed in then it's not and turn of the fuel pump?

Btw If any of you are experiencing jerking or weak acceleration, that is fuel related. Your injectors are compromised. If you are getting bad fuel mileage, it is 99% a fuel injector going bad. You will need a proper diagnosis to know which one it is.

If anyone needs any advise, I am here to help.
When my EPC light comes on while driving, I simply put Passat in neutral and turn ignition Off, then back On. Light goes away and Passat drives great for another 200+ miles until I have to do it again. Mechanic charged me $1600 and could not fix the issue after replacing several parts. Not sure what the problem is exactly, but this has been working for me for 4 years and 120K miles on 2016 Passat.

Without reading some codes, it could be so many things. Get it scanned asap and read the codes.

North, I would get someone to diagnose it more specifically so you don't end up throwing parts at it. I am not sure if you can clean injectors as theyv tend to fail .
Yeah they can be cleaned as well fitted with new O -rings to go on the injectors and re installed....

Bought a used 2013 Jetta gli I didn’t know it needed premium and put regular gas after a few miles of driving check engine light came on and epc too. Does it have to do with the gas?
Andres people put in regular by mistake, but the car's commuter would adjust it. My bet is on the faulty epc light. Do not panic, but have it scanned somewhere just to be sure. That way you would know for sure.
I would advise you to check it out because the repairs on the EPC are very costly. At least you know what you are in for it.

I have VW GTI MK7 stage 1 remap. I recently, a month ago, had a new clutch as I burnt out my Sachs paddle clutch racing it too hard. Then this week EPC and engine light came on, problem with throttle/power driving. I turned the engine off and back on, lights gone, drove it cautiously. Put my foot down a little and EPC light came back on its own, throttle issue was worse. Limped home.
Went to garage and computer said coil pack issue. The garage ordered spark plugs and coil packs. They put in new spark plugs but said the coils were fine so didn’t change them. The car drove ok for about 20 miles, then throttle issue again going up a steep hill, but no light on. I then parked as it was by my house. Any ideas what it could be?

Hello i have an 2016 audi a3 1.8t and my epc light has been on for a while now i noticed it came on after i installed some performance parts i did feel the cars power not fully 100% at first but it does the job still no check engine light has ever came on i installed and coil grounding kit and still the epc light is on i also reset the pedal sensor still nothing i disconnected some wires and cleaned them up on the engine and noticed an increase in acceleration and performance like if theres nothing wrong with it but that pesky epc light is still on i plugged in an code reader and all i got was low boost but the car feels magnificent would low boost cause the epc light to be on also im planning on cleaning the solenoid/s on the vehicle and replacing the camshaft magnet positioner hopefully that solves the problem i do need some feedback please reply what do you think may be the cause?
I wonder what would be the outcome if you removed the parts you installed just to test it. I would look into what risks those parts may cause.
Hello there, i have a 2012 vw golf. Im having weak power issues/ hard idle and throttle. I pulled the code and it says cyclinder 3 misfire. I tried replacing all the coils and spark plugs. The epc light come on then dissapears. Thank you for this video. Im hoping its the throttle body.

so i have a 2009 audi a4, when i was driving the engine light started flashing and epc light came on. the car started shaking also, it still runs and drives, but i dont want to mess anything anymore so i stopped driving. i just changed the spark plugs and the coil pack looked fine, but there is a ticking noise around the turbo area, anyone know what it could be?
Tino, my golf would throw epc light and car would jerk for one second. I am sure the car "threw" or stored a car under those conditions. Get someone to scan it before you start throwing money in it. That will narrow down what it is.

2015 audi a4 2LT. I replace spark plug n coil packs but still saying epc and check engine light. Can only assume it the low pressure fuel pump or the fuel injectors. After replacing spark plugs n coil packs. Cylinder 2 is still miss firing. Injectors???? Please help
Michael you need a more specific diagnosist. You can not just start installing random parts on it. EPC light is often triggered by bad injectors rather than spark plugs.
Was changing out the air filter on my '17 jetta 1.4t tsi and someone stole my compression clamp pliers used for the intake hoses.... lol sooo i put on what i could without them taking off into space and just snug fit the rest on the intakes... I drive 7 miles into town to get conventional hose clamps (because i'm not spending $40 for a pair of those damn things again) made like 2 other stops to look for a fuel filter and finally after the second stop, i pull out onto the road and didn't even accelerate that much and IMMEDIATELY popped that EPC light, soooo i limped it directly across the street (from orielys to auto zone) and put on the worm drive clamps.... It turned off lmao just amazing how something so small can pop that code!! just like a gas cap in my MK3 jetta triggers the CEL.
on a side note, the kid at orielys told me that the fuel filter WAS NON SERVICABLE LIKE WTFFF AINT NO WAY HOMIE LMAOO I CAN LITTERALLY TOUCH IT!!! LIKE WTF.
^^^^Cars had very sensitive check engline light two decades ago. So no wonder what codes get popped so easly.
I have a question because I don't see this issue anywhere I googled or searched on youtube
Still pertaining to the same car; When starting the car the first time of the day, it's usually fine an no issues to be had.... but after driving for a bit (I'd say 20min to an hour roughly) i would leave it to sit for hours at work and when it's time to leave, i get into the car and it does this long cranking time followed by a rough idle usually followed with it either dying or catching and running choke idle... Now this usually happens on hot days and I've come to the process of letting the ACC/IGN power on for the fuel pump to basically prime up to the engine and SOMETIMES it works but mostly it does the thing where its a long cranking following a rough idle... I'm a day away from replacing the Fuel filter and have the part in the car.... ANY idea what it could be?? Because i have tried fuel additives, killing the pump from drawing back the fuel (usually comes on after the motor shuts off) to adding 92 octane... Now it idles fine and I do not notice any misfires or surging or ANYTHING of that nature that would point to any fuel related issues.... I am stumped on this. @@IvansBikesBmws
@@devineleven514 It seems that this heat and high temps evaporated the fuel from your engine. Start by parking it under the shade from the sun. Also scan the codes just in case to have a better idea .
The shade does not help either and vapor lock is the only thing i can come up with myself. As for parking at work I am only allowed to park in designated areas which is sadly full sun. I have a scan tool and will def check it out again. @@IvansBikesBmws

That is what VW Audi dealers do. In that case they save time and they are not on a hook for the additional trouble shooting.
Hey man not sure if you can help, but I have been having issues with my car recently. I have a 2015 VW GTI with an EPC light on and a few codes P0045, P00AF, P2563 and my car didn’t build any boost. I brought it to a VW dealer and they said it’s most likely the wastegate failed. So I replaced the factory IS20 with an IHI IS38 (Factory Golf R Turbo) the epc light went away and my car was driving how it should be, building boost after 3k rpm. I did a pull one time and the epc light came back on with P0045 and P00AF codes. It drives perfectly fine just doesn’t build much boost, only 10psi when it should be closer to 29 psi. I’ve brought it to another vw dealer, paid the diagnostic fee and they basically told me they can’t figure out what’s wrong with it. I just want my car to drive how it normally does and I want the epc light gone so I know the car isn’t being damaged every time I drive it.
Hi Coco, from your description it looks like the dealer did not want to deal with modified car. I would look up the audi/vw shops that specialize in molded cars and approach them with your codes. They may be the better fit and more knowledgeable. From my BMW experience, dealers do not dealing with modified cars. Hope that helps.
Hey thanks for the video. So before I watched this, I took it to a VW Dealership because my wife's 2014 Jetta GLI keeps getting the EPC light on and off, it doesn't turn on when you go into sport mode though. Anyway, I paid for Diagnostics, and they came back saying the following, "Caused by: run gff found fault for p00af boost control "a" module performance. Found faulty wastegate module sticking causing fault, need new turbo. $3884 parts and labor." Anything you can share with me that might help?
Dave before you spend that coin on it, I would try vw audi independent in your area. Here in Canada vw dealers just tried to push upselling services that I did not need. Second opinion is a must.
I wish I could help other than that advise, but when turbo goes it can be pricey,but it does not mean that the dealer should charge that much. Wish you luck .
I have an issue with my EPC and traction control light coming on intermittently on my VW Jetta GLI 2.8 VR6. When the EPC light comes on at first, I notice a SLIGHT uptick in my RPMS. For example, when I am idling around 700, it might increase to 8-900 immediately when that EPC light comes on along with the traction control. I also notice I have a very, very intermittent issue on the highway when I suddenly have no throttle response, then it comes back like the car is surging, then no response again, and either my car appears to go into limp mode where if I throw it into neutral, the RPMs go to zero and my battery light comes on, or if I keep my foot on the gas for long enough, it will come back to life (half the time). Please let me know if you think this is a throttle body issue or something else if you can. Subbed! :)

I had this exact same problem last week with my wife's 2010 VW Beetle (2.5 Liter 5-cyl engine.) The car runs fine for 3 minutes, then the engine goes into a violent continuous shuttering with the EPC light and check engine light both on. Paid for an error code summary at Pep Boys. Three errors were related to "coil 1, 2, 3 misfire". I replaced all the plugs and all the ignition coils in my driveway (very easy to do yourself in 1 hour). Car now runs like it did off the showroom floor! Those coils are exposed to extreme heat, and can burn out early especially if you idle the car alot with the AC on in traffic. Hope this helps.
@@bobbyon-youtube9022 I thought that might have been the problem at first, but I replaced all my coil packs as some of them had gone bad by the time the previous owner sold it to me. I also replaced all the plugs with oem plugs. I did find out today that I have oil from my pcv leaking into my throttle body which is rather dirty. I'm thinking once I replace the pcv, clean the throttle body, and then replace my MAF with an OEM MAF, maybe I'll have better results

Yup, could could have the codes for many other things. I think if your epc light came, that scan tool is not reading it. Try some auto parts store to scan it free. Good luck.

That looks like ignition coils . Get it scanned asap. Coils often fail on bmws too.
My EPC light was on we fixed the trottle body and also in tank fuel pump I drove and now it came back on
I would take it back to the same shop if it was recently fixed.
Hi my car a 2015 VW Jetta epc is on and sometimes it jerks and the acceleration is bad it takes a while to get to speed. Also when this happens, my car takes a few times to turn on. It keeps clinging until it finally turns on and then the light shows up. I check my cars codes and I got the P0236, p1020F00, and p065800.
Sounds like vacuum leak or the injector on its way out. If you had poor gas mileage prior, it is 99% fuel injector. That was in my case on my vw. The codes will narrow down. Also don't bring it to the dealer as they will take you for a ride. Wish you luck.

Without reading the codes , that seems like a bad injector. I had that problem on my TSI. It is very important to diagnose it properly because you need to pop the manifold to replace the injectors.
Pop the codes, careful look the symptoms and go from there.
The EPC light intermittently stays lit when I start the car. If I turn the car off and back on it doesn’t reoccur. For the first time yesterday it came on while driving through a sharp curve at about 30 mph. I stopped the car and turned the car off the back on. The light did not return. My mechanic said code indicates the car needs a new turbo waste gate for $2500 parts and labor. The intermittent recurrences baffle me. Any thoughts before I go ahead with this costly repair are appreciated. Thanks
I would get a second opinion. Pop the codes while you dig for more info to confirm it is turbo related.

i have a 2020 volkswagen atlas cross sport and when i turn the car on the engine has some time to start then it starts and then i get some jerks and i can’t fully press down the accelerator it doesn’t go
It seems power related issue such as batter or alternator. Either those two are on their way out.
I have a 2019 VW Golf and I just took a pretty big trip about 2k miles since I moved states. I had a big pay load and used the cruise control most of the way there. I’ve seen no noticeable problems other than the EPC light suddenly turning on and my start stop button pops up an error when using. Still Not sure what’s wrong with the car.
Mr Torres, these cars are very advanced so the epc light is there for a reason. My advise is, scan the car and read on Google what it leads to. Do not ignore it.
My 2018 Golf variant also had EPC light on two days ago and after check by Taiwan dealer, the signal is from transmission error and they update the software and ask me to see if error recur, if EPC shows again, that will need to change whole driving computer and will be paid by warranty….Seems EPC has many different situations….

I have a 2014 Passat 1.8 gas, SE TSI. When I accelerate hard, EPC light comes on along with stability light and tire pressure light, car goes into limp mode. If I turn off and restart car, they all go off except the check engine and the car runs fine. Only if I accelerate hard or sometimes when I go up a hill. Had codes scanned and o2 sensors came up, replaced those,and evap...not sure what part to replace for that. Any advice would be great.

As you can see, as you shut the engine, it goes back to normal somewhat, but it still has the code stored. In my case , I had the same symptoms , and it turned out to be one faculty injector. My advise
Would be to get a VW independent garage to scan it with factory VW scan tool. It will point you to a more specific problem rather than throwing the random parts on the car.
Turned out to be coil packs. I had changed plugs, but not packs. Once those were charged, problem stopped.

@@andrewparsons295 I'm hoping thag fixes my 13 vw Cc. I had that pop on and only code I'm getting is multiple misfires. Ran fine for a few days after new plugs then acted up again. Might get a cleaner too for the mass air flow sensor since the issues came up after they started major road work and have clouds of cement dust. I also seen a video by South main auto that he replaced a part on top of the engine that created a massive internal vacume pressure so I'll be checking that when I can also

Can a low battery cause a epc? I used a scan tool but no codes . I do have a faulty alternator and my Audi displays a faulty alternator battery not being charged on the dash.
Yes it can. Get it test it for free at those big automotive shops. It is worth it.

Hello I have a VW 2015 Golf ! I got it scanned but nothing came up and I still have the EPC ! My mechanic recommended me to change the turbo but also told me that I can drive it without having to worry about it. What should I do ? Also my cruise control doesn’t work due to the EPC ! Please help
I have the same car TSI 1.8T. My advise to you is to find a independent VW shop that can at least tell you what is wrong before you take any risks. It seems like he has a entry level scanner that does not give the proper data. Not everyone can service this cars. Keep in mind MK7 are starting to hit off shore mechanic market just just as they are starting to wind up their warranty coverage. I hope that helps.
I just brought my 2016 GTI in for an oil change a few weeks ago. Everything was fine other than a slight alignment issue. Tonight, as i was driving on the highway, I noticed EPC light come on. Never had an issue before. I just feel like they made this happen so I’d have to go back in and spend more money. I’m crazy, right?
The truth is the cars have advanced a lot. I say get someone to scan it so you can see how serious it is. Epc light should store the codes. Wish you luck.

@@hanspaolo10 I second that. Bring it back to a dealer as I am 99% sure the problem was there before. Who ever brought that back, it was a lease/trade in, so they did not bother. EPC light comes on and off, but the code stored in there will tell you more on what is wrong. Hope that helps.
You not crazy. I had no issue with my 2016 golf sport wagon had an oil change last week, this week the epc light is on.
It's like the cell phones. You lose battery power everything it's updated

If so, keepnan eye on epc light, if it comes back again, than you may have a problem. If not, you are good.

Jonas you could have a vacuum leak, bad injectors or coil pack. Get someone to read the codes from the epc light and see where the faulty codes are saying when you look them up. Do not take it to sudi dealer right away.
2012 Passat 2.5 with CEL and EPC lights on. Autozone scan shows P0122. Removed throttle body and cleaned it but lights stayed on and still have loss of power issue. Going to buy a new throttle body and replace. Hopefully this fixes it.

Josh, that seems fuel and throttle body related. You have a fuel issue as possible bad fuel injector or a manifold. Based on your experience, you must have codes stored by now. Get the car scanned by a parts store and read the codes on Google, than look at your options.

That indicates on a faulty ecm power relay. I would try to read the codes to be 100% sure. Wish you luck.

my 2012 passat 2.5 has a problem with the epc light. it first started when i was driving on the interstate and my engine cut out. my steering wheel locked and after i turned the car off and waited a couple of min, the car turned on and i got it off of the interstate. after letting it rest for an hour, i went to turn the car on and it wouldn’t start at all. i took it to the vw dealership and a local mechanic who specialized in euro cars and they both said it was because of an oil leak i had. i got the oil leak fixed and the car worked fine for a day and then the epc came on again and it hasn’t started since. i have no idea what the issue is

You had to have a major oil leak for a car to stall.
It seems to me that both places did not diagnose the car properly. My advise look for a vw expert, but scan the car just in case to get a better idea what is going on.

What does code P0864 mean?
OBD-II Code P0864 is defined as a TCM Communication Circuit Range/Performance. If the Transmission Control Module (TCM) cannot communicate with other modules or the engine control module (PCM) can not communicate with the PCM, code P0864 will be set. Driving with this trouble code is not recommended
It is transmission related based on the code. Do not drive it!

Dang .. I had a broken rubber hose that connected to the engine and air intake . It was making like a weazy sound and pulsing. Could that make the EPC light turn on ? I only have an EPC light and no check engine . I replaced the broken hose . But light is still on . Will ut go away or i have to clear it and see if it comes back? Thank you for any help!
You will have to clear it. So get that done before dealer clears for ya for $150. Also when my injector went bad, epc light would not be on and it may just flicker when I give it gas. So you see, you gotta scan these cars to see what codes pop up. Better to scan it than get dealer do it for ya. That would give ya much better idea what is going on.

@anthonyr210 Anything tbh hard to tell for example my low-voltage check engine light dealer cleared with vcds. So work with what you got or even get some parts store to clear it for ya. Lots parts stores here in Canada got obd on hand. Wish you luck and never ignore epc light on.

Something about ABS pressure/brake light switch . But my brake lights work fine . When I was having it towed it did have a problem with the back wheel locking up but now that's it's running it's fine . What are your thoughts if you don't mind ? Thank you again!

Hi! I have a 2016 Audi A3 and for the past few months, at random times, my car is very sluggish when I try to start it and then shakes until it is fully started. The EPC light comes on then goes off. It’s been happening more frequently lately.. I’ve had all spark plugs and coils replaced. No codes still. Would this be a fuel injector problem?
If the fuel injectors were never done, i would look there. There must be some codes stored if the car runs that bad.
Also fuel injectors can be tricky to do, avoid dealer and find indy garage for vw audi if you cant do it. Just avoid the dealer
It doesn’t run bad at all…. It just doesn’t start up great/normal. But my good friend owns a shop and the only code we’ve gotten was for a misfire in 1 and 4.. I’ll have the fuel injectors looked into next. Thanks!

I have an 07 GTI. when driving randomly It’ll surge lose all power epc light and stability light will turn on. Check engine light sometimes comes on in unison. Restarting fixes the power issue but the lights will stay illuminated for a bit. Had the throttle body wiring replaced and the throttle body as well.

Yeah in 99% cases that is the problem. Reseting will not fix it until hardware parts are replaced.

So, I have a 2014 Volkswagen Passat 1.8 SE, and It is having a couple of issues right now.
It all started a couple months ago, the engine just sometimes turns off when I sometimes go full stop and the battery lights come on.
So I thought It was the battery issue and replaced it and it still does it again on some cases :(
Another issue I would like to ask is the EPC light.
Back in the day, I was accelerating hard and the EPC light, engine light, and tire pressure light came so I got freaked out.
So, I immediately went to the dealership and they replaced spark plugs and it happened to disappear for a while.
Well.. it is still happening on some occasions. (The EPC light goes away when re-ignition tho) and now I am also getting the weird noise with high and Unusual RPM when making a corner/turn with hard accelerating.
I am super frustrated with these issues and kind of afraid to take my car to the dealership when they are gonna charge me $$$.
I was wondering if you could give me any advice on this matter.

If it is not the battery, did they test the alternator? Something has to be draing the power.

I got very lucky that my VW dealer fixed my car right away. I had a bad fuel injector. My advise to you is to talk to them and let them know that they did not fix the car 100%. See what they say. While you are waiting, see if you can get someone to scan the car again to see if any codes pop

Before you spend anything, see if someone can scan it for free. I see people do that at auto parts stores. The independent is still much cheaper than a dealer if you go that route. Also your car is getting to that age paint where dealer will be pricey. So look up a few independently VW shops in your area.

@@vincent051109so mine was doing this due to a lack of engine oil. there was nothing left when the mechanic dipped the stick. I thought I had some left in the interval.
I know it sounds very simple and dumb, but why don't you try to replace the engine oil filter and refill it. Let me know how it goes.

I have a polo 1.2 tsi and my EPC comes on daily yet nothing happens to my car I don't lose power or anything the car drives as normal so not sure what it can be?
That is the syntom had, but when I brought it on, one of the injectors was bad. I would at least scan it and look up the codes online because if it comes on there is a reason.

Hey guys, I have an Audi A3 2016. When I turned on my car, it didn’t start straight away but I started driving on my EPC light turned on. When I started driving, I had 3/4 of a fuel tank and by the time I nearly got home. I had no fuel left in my tank and there was a lot of fuel fumes entering the cabin. The car van completely died on me. It sure what to do.
You should take it to independent VW specialist. Do not take it to dealer. Also of you can, scan the car .

My gti 1.8 swapped 2.0 was running fine til I shifted and the car just stop running while on . Battery died had to jump it then found out the coolant was dry so I got some coolant then turned car on started making knocking noises but no smell couldn’t tell if it was a valve or a rod or something else heard from on top of motor or under couldn’t tell. After that car wouldn’t go over 5 mph anyone have any ideas? The car starts up fine now but I can’t drive it until fixed. Kept overheating as well maybe spark plugs or coils no idea

@@mysticcanada3490 When misfiring codes pop up, I usually look at the coils, spark plugs and vacuum leaks.
If you can't sort it out on your own, look up vw specific shops and don't take it to vw dealer.

Hi, I got my vw gti mk7 eqt stage 2 tuned diagnosed at the dealership and they say it is a circuit problem and they can’t do anything to car because the tune voids the warranty. My car has weak acceleration and going into first gear is very easy to stall. Anyone have this problem before?

@@sarahrobson488 That is strange as it should unfortunately pop some codes. For example, my epc light would flicker once a while, but it read a faulty injector code. Sounds like you need a better diagnosis approach. Is your obd reader advanced enough? Try to to get someone to scan it again for the better diagnosis.

Mine just did this driving it 150 in the 110 degree heat. Its the throttle positioning sensor most likely. It will blow the s3nsor and put car into epc mode. Im waiting for car to cool right now to try to reset sensor

@@IvansBikesBmws p0342 p0211 p0112 I think i cocked the throttle position sensor. Car was missing intake hose when I bought it and I got a cold air intake to put in but it needs to be put in along with 20 other things including ac compressor the fenders cause of rust and got an rs3 spoiler front bumper and rear diffuser to put on as well. Nees to have my uncle paint first and he had stroke not to long ago. Have the straight pipe as well then I was gonna tune it. Got car for 3k. It's in really good shape. The a3 wagons are going for good money. I think ppl realize for cheap u can have an rs3 wagon in the states. U can get about 600hp out this motor but id be happy with 350 400 cause that's plenty. Thought about adding the rear diff to it but I just buy shit then don't ever get around to fixing but today is gonna be a day off and the ac and throttle body getting done first

The waste gates will get loose on these cars but saw video guy heated rivet on waste gate and hit with hammer to tighted it back up to eliminate boost leak. I think.p0171 is o2 sensor and other may be wastegate

Hes trying to get 120k for it but said he would take 80k. He also just bought a 1950s ford gt. So then night ended up turning out 👌. Tomorrow gonna do ac compressor and fix the throttle body. I just watched video that guy indicated to fix his epc light was his ECU module. If the throttle body is failing then how is it an ecu issue ?????
That is because these cars are computers on wheels as VW/Audi mechanics say. The epc light will pick up and stored codes because of that. For example, when your battery dies, you will get epc code for low voltage and it will have to be cleared. hope that helps.

I need to also determine whether my coil packs for cylinders 4 5 and 6 are bad or it's the fuel injectors causing the misfires in them. The spark plugs are all brand new plugs in the engine. And what I am thinking is also the vehicle has lots of really bizarre electrical gremlins I believe....as well...thanks for any light shed on what I am dealing with here as well. So this video isn't necessarily how to fix an EPC light. The title seems a bit misleading but I'm betting all those views have netted a few bucks. I digress. To summarize the video: 1. Scan your car for codes. 2. Research parts related to the code, and search for the cheapest possible price for the part. 3. Replace the part and hope it fixes the issue. 4. Return the part if it doesn't fix the issue.
Full disclosure, I hate stealerships as much as the next guy, so unless there's a recall, I avoid dealer service departments like the plague and only use reputable independent shops if I can't fix something myself. Not to bag on this guy, and I appreciate that he seems to be trying to help people avoid costly dealer repairs, but what's being suggested in the video just isn't sound advice. The problem is, simply buying the cheapest-priced part can be seriously risky. There is no end to all the cheap Chinese parts available on Amazon, etc., that might not only end up being defective, but could potentially damage your vehicle. I replaced leaky power steering hoses on my truck with parts that were less than half the price of the factory parts. Guess what? Less than two years later, both hoses are leaking again. So now I get to spend more money to buy quality parts this time, and at least 3 hours to replace them. Thankfully I caught the leak in time before my power steering pump and steering gear were ruined.
Second, the suggestion that you can just throw a cheap throttle body on your car -- and if it doesn't fix it, you can just return it -- is simply terrible advice. I have never known a parts store to allow a return on a used fuel-related component (or electrical component, for that matter) unless it is defective. Amazon may be the exception to that, but then again it's probably not the best idea to ship anything that has had fuel in it anyway. I don't think the postal service or any other shipping company would appreciate that.
Bottom line: 1. Get your car scanned and thoroughly research the code(s), then research how to actually test potentially faulty components rather than just start throwing parts at your car. Shooting the parts cannon is neither an efficient nor cost-effective substitute for basic troubleshooting. 2. Don't be fooled into thinking any cheap part is going to work. You could be out more money -- and time -- in the long run by using inferior parts. Check user reviews and ratings before purchasing an aftermarket part. I'm not implying this is always the case, but sometimes factory parts might just be the best option, even if they are more expensive.
@jrb982 JRB good observation, but it all depends on how you look it. For example, I brought in my bmw and vw at the dealer when my battery was done. When I got there, all was good, but when they cranked the car, the light came on for the low voltage. Regardless they tried to charge me $200 for a diagnosis and maybe another $200 for clearing the codes. So I would say, the more info gets put out there the better. Also yes, the video did very well and brought good cash, but that was just a pure luck tbh. Plenty of these videos out there trying to score. Cheers and thanks for the comment.

OBD codes arent always helpful. It gives you a list of potential issues on different parts, but it doesnt narrow it down. Mechanics will say, well one can be throwing off another thing and you start replacing things that dont need to be replaced and end up costing you the same as taking it to the shop.

For new comers...i have this problem with my 12 sel premium. If you car doesnt accelerate pass 60mph n is jerking it is the high pressure fuel pump under the hood. Fuel injector clean might work a couple times but your car will get immune to it. The pump is 250 online its easy enough that if your handy with tools you can change it yourself hope this helps anyone....i did some digging digging for this info so thank me later
Ps the part is called direct injection high-pressure fuel pump as most vw have 2 fuel pumps the d.i high pressure fuel pump under the hood and the actual fuel pump assembly located near the gas tank

@@six66string My advise, pop up by or call any auto parts stores and politely ask to scan . They do that here in Canada and US. Once you get the codes you can look up. Usually when you rev the car, the codes pop up if the obd is detecting errors. That would save ya $100-$150 by going to indy shop or vw dealer. Than you can plan how to resolve it. Usually what people do, car breaks down , people get stressed out and you get nailed with a huge car bill. Wish ya luck.
