I'm glad they gave Richie a real arc and didn't just sideline him as the inflexible old school guy that just gets left behind and acts as a hindrance to everyone else.
Thats why they had the scene with him and carmy talkin about him reading the book about the group of friends that everyone had passion and was doing great things besides the one friend left behind. He became tired of being that one friend and decided to change it.
Thats what the bear does better than anything I’ve ever watched. The characters are so well written that you can see yourself in all of them. And their character growth; Ritchies angst that hes too old to start again all the while he has a kid, and his realization that that isn’t true at all, that the most important part of life is, every second counts. He’s just so relatable like all the others are.
They'll both apologize, especially when he finds out how Richie steps up. That's their relationship. They blow up at each other and it's all good in a few days. That's why they don't really like Pete. He's too "normal" in a family that's used to dysfunction (even though Richie isn't technically a blood relative, just like "Uncle" Jimmy)
