  • Buckle up because our guest this week on The Old Man & The Three is the one and only Luka Doncic from The Dallas Mavericks. In his first long form podcast interview, he covers a number of topics. Highlights include: the money he owes JJ Redick, the red hot Dallas Mavericks, why The Mavs are working right now, coming into the NBA season out of shape, using his body to his advantage, how he fell in love with basketball in Slovenia, moving to Spain to play for Real Madrid, the difficulties of moving away from his home, his first exposure to The United State of America, the difference between American born superstars and European superstars, trying to get Nikola Jokic on Instagram, hunting match-ups against LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Rudy Gobert and other NBA stars, why it's easier to score 30 points in The NBA than in The Euro-league, what's the first thing he looks for from the defense, why he loves watching and playing against Kevin Durant, other basketball players he looks up to, his favorite game winning shot ever and much more.

From Chicago but I’m a huge Luka fan, just follow up on your promise to quit crying to the refs bc damn it gets annoying to see on TV. A few times a game is coo, shows passion but damn, not every play! Other than that you’re one of the few players I’ll tune in to watch when you guys play. They master them so well and it's so part of them that they kind of know the boundaries of what they can do and can experiment with those. For example: their use of the pivot foot. This is the most impressive Basketball video I have seen in a long time. Luka ❤ - 2,5 times I watched this. So good
You guys are so damn good at interviewing. So many points where you put Luka at ease and just having fun, allowing him to open up. Marvelous interview

Having a professional playing father helps the early development so much. Obviously he was immensely talented anyway but it helps.

Actually it has been shown that it is not good because MOST children fail to follow their father's steps.

Wow he is much more self aware than I thought, I think the ability to sit down and tell yourself to stop a certain action is one thing but carrying through the thought is another much props to him and I think it just shows his work ethic and humility to not get stuck up despite being a multi milllionaire and possibly billionaire in the future.

Respecting the game and respecting your guests is how JJ and Tommy get the best guests and the best conversations out of their guests.
