EPIC offshore fishing with my dad jigging for pollock.

I finally convinced my dad to go fishing on a party boat, Eastmans. The seas were a little rough going in but it turned out to be a good day. We were jigging for pollock all day mostly with my homemade cod jigs.

I mainly use a JW Black Widow 7’ 6” 200 grams paired with a Shimano Torium 16 PGA spooled with 50# braid. And a
Jigging World Black Widow 7’ 6” 300 grams paired with a Shimano Torium 16 PGA spooled with 65# braid.
TSSPJ- C761XH paired with Shimano SpeedMaster 16II with 65# braid and a couple other set ups. Due to tangles and what not I like having extra set ups. I used 65# mono leader on all set ups.

not pollock coalfish

Thanks to you now I’m aware of another specie. Here is the US we just call them pollock, with a straighter lateral line

@@FredAlves-Fishing pollock have a curved lateral line. Straight on the tail and then curves up towards the head. The coalfish are always straight. Give it a google 🎣🎣

You are right. Pollachius virens is usually known as saithe or coley in UK. However both species, P Pollachius and P. Virens, are referred in US as just Pollock
