    I bought a 2008 Honda Fit Sport and couldn't be happier! The handling on this vehicle is unreal and it has surprisingly good acceleration! The "magic seat" he described is SO helpful! It is crazy how much stuff you can "fit" in the "fit". Additionally, I would like to point out that all of the dials, buttons, etc, are high quality. Even the sound of the door closing makes this car feel like a luxury vehicle :)

      @@brendame I own the first gen Honda Fit. Unfortunately, I can't agree with the above comment regarding the acceleration being good as well as the quality.
      First the pros: Magic seats are awesome, fits a ridiculous amount of stuff in the car for its size, fun to drive, good gas mileage.
      Cons: Acceleration isn't good (but I didn't buy the car for good acceleration), door closing sound is cheap (does not sound like the dull thud of a luxury car), dials are cheap plastic (and they're mostly manual dials), driver's side lock no longer works (common problem with the fit), the trunk latch is broken (common problem), AC compressor had to be replaced, AC button no longer works (have to tape it down, wont stay down), rear defrost button no longer works.
      All in all, it's a pretty decent car (considering it's Honda's entry level car). All of the things that broke weren't catastrophic failures just small stuff (albeit annoying). Not nearly as reliable as my old 2000 civic which had 240k miles when it was totaled by a dump truck. None of the buttons ever broke, locks never broke, AC never broke. Only thing that ever went on the civic was the distributor and the radiator cap.
      Hope it helped!

      Lol that’s exactly the perfect comment I was looking for. A car that can FIT even a mattress for camping but compact and portable and efficient! Heck you can go just about anywhere! I was wondering. How good is the ground clearance on this good baby!? Have you ever gone say for example... the desert? And going into gravel roads etc. did it held up well? And how about mountains? How well does it go up not super steep slopes but just enough plenty. Your comment was perfect! It was just what I was looking for and it made me giggle because it’s exactly whaf I wondered if that could be done. How big was the mattress? I may just end up buying the same one :D. Although I wonder if the cargo space differs for all the fit models from 2007- 2019

      That's exactly why I want one. I currently have a Toyota Hiace but it's too big, a nightmare to park and way too costly to drive. Plus it's a 1996 and has a carberator that hates cold weather. I've been looking for a car that I could do all those things in easily and still take camping in the winter.

As good as the gen 1 is the 2nd gen solved all the little issues that bothered me in the 1st car. Either one is a solid investment as long as it was and continues to be well maintained. I agree with his review. Solid car, good crash test results, flexible seating, with more interior room than is apparent. We just got a 08 Sport and the only weaknesses to point out among these cars are the low front air dam that tends to hit parking curbs, limited 8 gallon gas tank so it seems like the gas needle moves a lot and the car is always thirsty, and the valves need periodic adjustment, 30-50k miles, to keep the engine running smooth. There is also an external canister trans filter under the battery that people and the dealership never seem to change.

    32-33MPG on the hwy? I drive an 08 manual sport which has a smaller top gear than the automatic making it less efficient on the HWY. I cry if my mileage drops below 42MPG. At 67/68 I can get near 50mpg on a hills and 52/53 if the terrain is flat! My fave feature is how that hugs the curbs. Nothing like walking away from a 300+ hp Mustang who's tailgating in the Apalachian Mountains because it can't do curves like you!

Great for inside space which I need since I have a big bike I like to lug around sometimes. The thing that worries me a bit though is that the gas pedal is SUPER sensitive and I’m not used to that since my moms Toyota from 2003 is a bit more harder to push down- just gotta get used to it I guess. I have a 2008 Fit Sport, bought it new and has been a great car with the exception of a front sway bar link falling apart and a bad problem of eating the right rear tire. This car was never in an accident but the dealer says the rear axle beam is bent causing excessive toe in on the right rear. I have contacted Honda about this and all they say is not covered. The tire will begin to cup and sound as if you have an old school type snow tire whirring away back there. The shock back there is good with no loose parts

    • @craignehring
      @craignehring Před 7 lety

      No, it always cranks over fine and starts right up, it has about 85k miles on it, original spark plugs. I did have to replace the original battery in 2010. I get a power steering or anti lock brake sound sometimes at really low speeds though, only when I am turning and less than 5 mph.Mine is a 5 speed manual.

    • @craignehring
      @craignehring Před 7 lety

      Rear wheel bearings can last a very long time but if gone bad are easy to replace. To check for a badly worn tire, place your had on top of the tire and sweep from left to right try to feel for uneven cupping or wear. Of course a good look see may be warranted first in case any steel wires are poking out. The "nonadjustable" toe angles on the rear may be the cause of the noise and tire wear.
      I have ordered a shim it to re position the stub axle. It is a neat trick that can be done but involves taking apart the entire brake and axle assembly. Here is a link to some of these shims
      www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/honda,2008,fit,1.5l+l4,1441754,suspension,alignment+shim,10657
      Note: on later model Honda's this axle can not be unbolted. This modification must be done with knowledge of the correction needed and must be rechecked once put back together.

      I own a 2007 Fit and I am 6' 4". The leg room is fine in the front and still adequate in the back, even with the front seats slid all the way back. The driver's seat does not have height adjustment so you sit at one level the whole time, but it isn't terrible. Headroom is endless, you will not hit the roof. As for comfort, 4 adults could sit comfortably, the middle seat is pretty small but would work if need be, The back seats recline a bit too, so that helps. The only downside to passengers is they do affect performance somewhat. It is a great city car though, with respectable fuel efficiency.

Granted it’s got 230k miles on it but it’s been this bad since like 175k miles…

    One thing you overlooked in this review was the fact that once you lowered the top of the back seat to get that 'enormous' amount of space, the drive would have to be driving with the steering wheel up his nose!! Also, not crazy about the idea of having the gas tank sitting up front with me in the event of an accident.

    Hard to believe the price for parts for these things. I got two new tires $250 ea. When it was time to get a battery I called the dealership, $350. I got one at Walmart, exact fit $135. On some model's you can pop the hood and change out the light blub's. On the 2007, like mine you have to take the front end off to get to the blub's. Not really a hard job, just a pain to do. All in all it has been a good car.

    • @black_acura286
      @black_acura286 Před 2 lety +1

      You don’t have to take the front end off. Just turn your steering wheel and remove fender liner. The bulbs are on the other side of the fender liner

    • @kasun2008
      @kasun2008 Před 4 lety +2

      Honda fit and Vitz very reliable than Demio. Honda fit looks better than the other 2. Demio is a very sporty and high-performance car. So it has the highest maintenance. Demio has the lowest cabin space. Honda Fir has a small engine than Vitz. So when you switch on AC it won't give good cool air specially if you have few people inside the car. If you buy a vitz you get the lowest maintenance car. Good AC. If buy Vitz buy 1300cc or 1500cc. 1000 cc is underpowered

      It is of little issue when you think about it, what is the problem if it is located a few feet back? If involved in a really serious crash and the tank leaked, fuel would be everywhere. I understand the concern, but really not likely to be an issue. Anyone remember the ford pinto? The VW bug had the tank in the front of the car and not many burst into flames in crashes.

    Ita drives like a Go-kart. Great if you live in a place with nice roads and nice weather. Had this car for about two years and driving on the free way was a chore. Also...feeling every bump in the road gets old very quickly. Also 80 dollars to change the oil and the gas tank is very small because it's under the drivers seat and that why you have so much room in the back. Only got about 27mpg with a manual transmission. That's very low very for a budget runner. Honda fits are way over rated cars.
