Pretty well put considering how frustrated and emotional he must feel at this moment. We ask to see the real side of athletes, and then complain when they show it to us. I love this from Giannis.
no MVP for Giannis😢
It’s not a failure because Giannis can celebrate on being the most protected superstar in sports history. 10/23 from the line In an elimination game and y’all just giving him flowers?? Good night
@@trelllmaoyessir You don't have to give the man flowers you just have to understand that these guys live and breathe the sport and feel the pain of these losses 1000x harder than any fan ever could. He knows he missed the free throws. He will probably never forget missing these free throws. Nobody will celebrate this performance from him even though he dropped 38 and 20 because of the expectations he's created for himself and the way he put himself in position to score even more.
Losing is a failure in itself but labeling a period of time as long as an entire basketball season as a failure because of a bad 4 games is not productive or helpful. Great players and mature people in general learn from setbacks and see the brighter side of things. Giannis will be a happier person and a better player if he learns from 2022-23 and appreciates all the good things that happened, even if it ended terribly.
@@Dreamhouse126 Completely agree. A lot of people don't seem to understand this.

One of the best answers to a loaded question I have ever heard from an athlete. Stuff like this is why I will never stop being a fan of Giannis ✊️
That was a simple yes or no question. If you go around answering questions like that in an exam with a soliloquy I don't think you'll pass 🤣
@@brightBoss And yet his response shows why it's NOT a "yes or no question." It's because the definitions of "success" and "failure" are far too complex and nuanced to turn it into a black or white answer.
absolutelly right
This is why I love Giannis. This was like old school rap. He made his point beautifully and not one curse word.
Giannis was 🔥. That reporter better be lucky Giannis is a gentleman.

@@Blkb-tt5cs Nah man, I call it as it is. Give credit wherever it's due.
The reporter probably thinks Allen Iversons 2001 season was a “failure” because he couldn’t single handedly beat a heavily favored Lakers team.

This is a textbook example of emotional intelligence and professionalism
Pretty wise response for a young man that seems to be a very reasonable, humble and likeable person overall... good luck in the future.
I'm not a Bucks fan, but moments like this have made me a Giannis fan. I've watched this interview dozens of times over the past month because this message applies to all facets of life. Success is a process. Not reaching your goals is part of being successful. Avoiding that process and taking the quick and easy path rarely leads to meaningful and sustained success.
He's angry, disappointed, tired, injured, and incredibly agitated by this reporter's question which is little more than bait. So many complex emotions and feelings going on but Giannis is still able to provide a thoughtful answer without letting his emotions take over. That's incredible discipline for someone his age and it shows people that there is always a human side to sports. Too many people think athletes owe them something, so they treat them like circus monkeys that need to bend to their will. These are human beings doing a job by playing a game. There are more important things in life than your occupation. I love how Giannis gives this heartfelt answer while he's clearly frustrated but still has the presence of mind to respect the person asking the question. The apology at the end made me chuckle because it totally encapsulates who Giannis is as a person. We need more Giannis's in our society.
What a class act knows he has to control his emotions and he is aware of self..
He handled the interview with class and dignity. He is saying the straight up truth.
What a brilliant response and such a controlled reaction considering the emotions running high.
I love this guy! No excuses doesn’t hide from adversity and always sees the up side of a bad day.
This just made me a fan of his
Respect him so much for answering the way he did
What a badass answer. I love that Giannis even says the guy’s name as he’s answering the question. He was very personable about making it not personal. And he is correct- it’s the wrong question to ask.
From a Heat fan nothing but respect to giannis. Hope the bucks can retool the roster around him. If not maybe leave the team and go elsewhere
he won’t leave, but he can come to SOUTH BEACH BAYBEEE!!! HEAT UP !
retool the roster? he missed 3 games and came back to play hurt lmao
he should've went to the heat after 2020 they could've had 3 by the end of these playoffs
Just need a new coach
he should pull a Bron. You gave this city a ring... Go to wherever u want to get another.
This is probably my favorite interview moment of all time. Giannis keeps it real 100% of the time and is such a relatable person
It’s a standard question for all teams that are eliminated from the postseason in any sport 🤷🏻♂️
Facts!!!
And it's still a daft question because then all teams fail except the champions. Rather ask him where he thinks it went wrong.
...it's standard, so it's okay. 🙄
That reporter looking for a headline the fact that its the same dude that asked the SAME question last year is unbelievable. Extremely disrespectful. Fire that guy!
Eric Nehm is the most successful reporter the Bucks have had that isn't named Andrews or Stephenson. Thats why he gets a pass.
That’s a question they ask after you are a MVP and 1 seed and you lose in the first round I don’t know why he act shocked
Stop being overly emotional it's just a question.
@@willemdafuck Yes he said fire him for asking a question about them choking
@Stanley Terrell I think Giannis made a great response but the question is definitely valid. This is one of the biggest upsets in NBA history..
Russian Giannis? But in all actuality, the way Giannis speaks and answers questions really shows the difference between a positive and negative mindset. Giannis is such a positive person and that way of thinking is a championship mindset cause he doesn’t let negativity ruin anything! When ya can have positivity during unfortunate times, it’s a championship

The awareness of his situation and emotions… I enjoyed this clip.
Great composure and great response. I'm a Heat fan but now a Giannis fan, too.
People are too pissy about a normal question. This wasn't them losing in the finals, or losing to Boston again in a ECF. They lost on the FIRST ROUND. And not only lost, they were STOMPED by the Eight Seed, being the FIRST SEED AND TITLE FAVORITE.
Failures and Accomplishments are defined by our expectations. Do y'all mean to say they didn't have expectations to get past the first round?
Cuz that looks like a team that is a no-factor on the playoffs.
What is the BIGGEST thing you have ever won?
Your MOST IMPRESSIVE accomplishment?
Their expectation was that Giannis wouldn’t miss 2 1/2 games. So no I don’t count this season as a failure. I’m not even a Bucks fan.
SO inspiring. I love his attitude. Bookmarking this to inspire me on the tough days!
Sometimes there's more to life than just winning. Only people that know what true hunger feels like would understand. Giannis is a real inspiration.
Great response especially after a tough loss. Great example for the rest of the league and to every young player out there! Steps to success include falling down but getting back up.
Credit to Giannis parents for raising a good man 👏
He's pretty serious. He'll be a force to be reckoned with next season.
Actually a very respectable and down to earth man
You know, he says it's the wrong question; but in all honesty, I'm glad this man asked him this question as his answer is something everyone in the world of Sports needed to hear.
Here are 2 questions Eric could have asked instead:
1. With the recent playoffs losses to the Miami Heat in both 2020 and 2023, do you feel that there is something specific about their style of play or preparation that makes them a particularly challenging opponent for the Bucks, and how do you plan to adjust and prepare for potential matchups with them in the future?
2. With your impressive performances in both the 2021 and 2023 seasons, where you were the MVP runner-up in both years to Jokic, how do you stay motivated and focused on continuing to improve and elevate your game, and what specific areas are you working on to take your skills to the next level?
You should have been there to ask

Outstanding response....pure gold!
One of the best interviews I’ve heard in a long time! Well said!
Amazing response and a lesson for us all. Look how hardships in our lives come to give their fruits eventually. Giannis would never come to realise all the above if he hadn’t been through tough times. The bet is to “use” all this experiences from hardships to grow.
They say if you put an egg, a spaghetti and coffee beans to boiling water you get different effects from the same environment.
Egg gets tougher
Spaghetti softer
And coffee brings out all its aroma.
Lessons.
Giannis is class personified. It should be your goal as a team to win the championship. But it's not a failure if you don't. It's a disappointment because things didn't happen they way you wanted to. Winning a ship requires consistency, staying injury free and alot of luck. All 3 don't always happen at the same time.
This is what makes people achieve greatness because they know what it takes to achieve it. They resonate with hard work and sacrifice so no loss is for nothing. Giannis clearly illustrated that and from one successful person on to the next who’s on his way I got that message completely. Every L in the trenches wasn’t a failure because it prepared me for the fight today 👍🏽💪🏽. These 2 minutes and 4 seconds will be played and reminisced/studied over for years by generations to come.
Thank you Giannis. Great role model for athletes.
A two minute masterclass in cultivating a growth mindset. 👏
Spot on Giannis. Great attitude
Great thought process to also apply to life in general. There's going to be ups and down in everyone's life

What a good man!! I love what he explains about sports, it can be applied to life in general. Excellent!!!
Excellent response!
That was a great response especially given the circumstances and how visibly frustrated he is at the reporter. 😅
He’s still a champ!
Simply amazing this is a life lesson listen up!
I honestly don't think it was a bad question... But it was just bad timing. Of course Gianni's was a little bit emotional because they lost in the first round to an 8th seeded team after they literally had the best record in the regular season, but it's not like the question is irrational or illogical.
It would be different if they lost in the finals or conference finals but given all of the context, I see why the reporter asked.
I agree but he definitely could of worded it better
It was a deliberately nasty question…Eric has been a failure this year 😂
I mean if they lost in the finals that would be a failure he’s at the point where every season is title or bust and the way he went out I think as of right now in my opinion he can’t be considered the best player in the world at the moment
They lost to a play-in team that fault to get 8th see, without two of its best players, one being Victor, and they beat the best record team in nba season. It was a great question. This is just a better response.
What I take out of it is Giannis legit wants to be a Bucks lifer (much like how Dirk was a Mavs lifer) and he's comfy knowing his title window is still good since the last one he won. Other than that the question was guaranteed to elicit a very emotional response.
