- It's World Change Day everyone!
On June 6th Daddario reminds us to change the strings on our guitars, at least once a year! đ
Be part of the community and feel connected to your fellow guitarists from the comfort of your own home and CHANGE. YOUR. STRINGS! It is super important to do this regularly, and International String Change Day started by D'addario is a reminder to all of us.
Okay... but whatâs the right way to change strings on a classical guitar?
The good news is, renowned classical guitar luthier Richard BrunĂ© wrote "Removing all of the strings at once is not harmful to a well-constructed guitar.â
Daniel Friederich, famous French luthier, in an interview with the GSI Foundation: "I always recommend changing all the strings at the same time. Some people say that when you change all the strings, it creates an imbalance in tension on the soundboard. But in practice, I've never seen any negative consequences from changing all the strings simultaneously."
Remember to follow standard string changing procedures, such as gradually increasing the tension on the strings and properly stretching them to ensure stability and optimal sound quality.
Avoid excessive amounts of string slack or unnecessary overlapping on the tuning pegs, but ensure a sufficient wrapping to stabilize the strings and ensure stable tuning.
It's worth mentioning that if you have specific concerns about your guitar's structural integrity or if it is an older instrument, you may want to consult a professional luthier for personalized advice.
Overall, while there may be differing opinions on this topic, changing all the strings at once is generally considered safe for a well-made classical guitar.
Save this for later or send it to a classical guitar nerd friend!
I was using some awesome @daddarioandco products to optimize this procedure, such as a string winder, headstock tuner, microfiber cleaning cloth and EJ46 strings :)
When was the last time you change strings? What are you going to put on today? Let's get nerds in the comments!

Iâve never been courageous enough to swap out the whole set at the same time. Iâll have to try it next time.
Worse case, looks like itâs finally time for that upgrade. đ
I had seen the 2 hour (?) long classical guitar construction video on Rob Scallon's channel in which master luthier Marshall Brune builds an great guitar from scratch, so that's what I had going on in my mind.
Richard also shares his perspective in that video and seeing the entire building process and the tips shared along the way helped me understand the workings of my guitar better.
Since then I have always changed the strings on my guitar by taking them all off.
Old habits die slowly, since the violin was my first string instrument and it is important to do one string at a time.. I carried that over to my guitars, even though my teacher said on the guitar it doesn't matter.
I also did it one by one for yeeears! It doesnât hurt to be cautious haha
I didn't know people who primarily play Nylon strings thought about this. I'm mostly an Electric player, yet also play plenty of Steel & Nylon. In the electric world, we always do all strings at once for cleaning (perhaps with the exception of floating bridges.)
However, if left off too long the neck & shift & require a small adjustment. Literally only happened to me twice in near 30 yrs.

Great video for all to enjoy.
Which guitar is that? Its beautiful
I play both punk rock and classical guitar. Because I play very aggressively on electric guitar, often tremelo picking, one string will often break prematurely and I just change one. Usually the E, b, or e. With classical guitar, I rarely ever break a string and change them all at once. It's not fun...reminds me of building my deck for some reason, but totally worth it. And I only clean the fret board like once every 3 years because I like a little bit of funk on it. I do clean my pickups regularly as they get gross from travel and they are important as they make the sound noises happen. lolz
heres me over here with my first classical guitar only a couple days old and i try new strings the carbon daddario and the e and b slip and ding tf outta the top đ
no worriesïŒi played for more than 4 years still have strings snap on međ. it cut my i finger a bit and also leave a ding on the top. it is something will happen eventuallyïŒjust the matter of time.

Music is enough for a lifetime, but a lifetime isnât enough to learn how to tie the strings to the saddle properly.
-Segovia probably
What guitar is this? I have this exact kind and have no idea what it is as I am new to guitar and am currently trying to learn on this guitar. If you have any information, thank you
Iâm not sure what the model is, but itâs a classical guitar :) I have one just like it and I love her
I'VE FOUND THAT IR 1 STRING BREAKS THE OTHERS AREN'T FAR BEHIND SO I CHANGE ALL OF THEM.
My professor said itâs the best way to just change each string
So you let the old ones there and change one than the next and so onâŠ
Wait a lot of people don't do all at once?

What guitar are you playing?
Zhe one that i want to know is, where are the lessons to play
Hey hey, you can find infos about my lessons on my website, beatrixguitar.com đ
Is yamaha c40b a well-constructed guitar?
I usually change one at a time, since I have no sweet on my hands. My strings also last forever
I hate changing guitar strings so I do them all in one go, si I can also thoroughly clean the fretboard and frets with special oil for the wood there. I avoid playing with sweaty, dirty hands and don't put on hand lotion if playing guitar. After each session, I wipe down my strings.
Thank you btw
very good to know!,I'm relax now.
Can you put bronze strings instead of plastic strings?
nah not on a classical.
Technically yes, but the whole point of classical is the nylon. The sounddddd đ€đ»
the tension will be different thoïŒas it might hurt the guitar. it is doableïŒbut not recommended.
Ask your luthier before changing all the strings at once, for some type of guitars with some type of woods/construction can be harmful.
Wanna hear a weird story? Many years ago, my band was sponsored by TOMS shoes and Knucklehead guitar strings. Perhaps 2 or 3 of our 5-man group wore TOMS⊠but none of us guitarists/bassist actually used Knucklehead strings (specifically their âShortbusâ series for drop-tuning). It was a kind of âgimmeâ for us high-school kids back in the day. đ
Yeh just take them all off??? Ive been doing so for 25 years. Its fine i swear.
when i play i have some kind of problem when i play open g string it sounds normal but when i played little bit harder it has like a crackling sound like i would play note wrong even tho im playing it open but it fixes it self in higher position like 12 fret. should i change strings beacause i hear the sound comiing from bridge. it coudnt be that would it guitar is fairly new about 8 yrs old.
This buzzing or rattling sound is more than likely coming from something being loose, more often that not it is a tuning peg which is vibrating. Check all the screws and moving parts. B
As long as you dont put the nut upside down, you'll be fine if it falls out.
Put a small drop of glue on that nut. Problem solved. On steel stringed guitars you always glue the nut.
so cute
its d addario ej145
make a video of you change the strings, is so weird you way
†how pray tell would someone change all 6 strings "simultaneously"?â€
as opposed to changing just one i guess
That is an obvious impossibility
@@xshayahyawzi3666you need 6 people, one for each string. Everyone gather around and decide who changes what string
So every way to change the strings is wrong? Answer, donât change them at all, just deal with it.
Strings gradually lose their brightness and the wound basses wear down (from being pressed against the fret?) and will eventually snap. Then you will have to choose whether to change a string or change your scores to work around a guitar with a missing string.
â@@andrewgrant9782and brother what then when all of them breakđ

You didn't demonstrate on how to actually change strings. But still, you're nice to look at !
