The look on your face was worth it as us Europeans (I'm English) are far more accepting of normal sex without the baggage that comes with it.

You should watch the Centraal Beheer (insurance company) commercials from the Netherlands. They have a whole SERIES of hilarious commercials!

7:30 cell phones were status symbols back in the 1980 (and big like a brick). It was only at the end of the 1990s that more and more average people started to have cell phones. Initially, there were only prepaid tariffs where you paid a certain amount and thus a certain number of minutes or SMS in advance. Then there were volume tariffs, where you also bought a certain amount of time and SMS and were billed monthly like a landline contract. And finally, contracts that had no time limit. All of these tariffs were billed by the minute. Back then, making one minute of mobile phone calls was really expensive. And you could only make phone calls and send SMS, and later also MMS. That's why only the bare essentials were written and spoken. SMS consisted of numerous abbreviations because an SMS was limited to 160 characters. The advertising hits it right on the head. Talking for 60 minutes and only paying for 3 minutes was revolutionary cheap, a forerunner of today's flat rates. Oh yes, cell phones only became internet-capable around 2005.😂

Europeans have a special kind of humor, and we don't care if they contain bad language, innuendos, or even nudity (after a certain 'kids are in bed' time) and violence up to a point, but not to glorify it is not really frowned upon... It's part of life after all and you are perfectly capable to zap away or turn it off yourself.
rules, laws, morals etc. differ from place to place (or even on a personal level) but Europeans have a 'use common sense' attitude, if something is plastered with warnings it's usually due to tourists not behaving/thinking
but yeah there's way more commercials that are funny, though with all the political correctness these days it got toned down, it's less dark humor ... the best came from the 80's and 90's imo
