- In todays episode of Retro Smash TV I visit my local CEX Game Store to check out the latest games they have on the Playstation 2.
I have recently started collecting for playstation 2 and Playstation 3 and hqve noticed that the prices are increasing for the ps2 and ps3!
There is also a generous playstation 3 unboxing that was sent by a subscriber.
There are so many underated games for both consoles, and i cant wait to grow my video game collection.

Grats' on the gifts, it does seem that more people are picking up PS2s, but one issue with pricing for them will be (in my opinion) the amount of copies in existence for each game. It's multifold for what was going on in the PS1/Saturn era. That factor will keep prices down.
If I remember right, you mentioned wanting editing tips? Well there were two points in the video where the music track was drowning out your voice. There's an easy to manage that issue. Now IDK what editor you use, but I have Premiere. When I want to tweak a bit of a track, I press CTRL+K to segment the audio JUST before the start of the problem segment and I CTRL+K to segment the end of the problem section. Then I adjust that segmented part of the audio, which would be in case... lower the music volume. Now Apply an audio fade to the start and end of the segment, so that the audio flows seemlessly by dragging the fade effect directly onto the start and end of the audio segment.
Yeah that is when I was in CEX. Unfortunately. This channel is all done off my iPhone 11. I don’t use any fancy software. I don’t have a pc or laptop for editing. I’m just a guy with an iPhone lol

@@retrosmashtv Ah, I tried video making that way with that exact model of phone and quickly got frustrated. I just use a mic now along with art/animation/video game captures.
PlayStation 2 prices are going nuts! I had a look at some of my games on Cex: Metal Slug Anthology £60, God Hand £90, and Raiden III £120! I have about 10-15 other PS2 games that also go for about £30-£50 too. I'm going to have to start looking at my insurance policy and maybe get my more valuable games listed. And to think when I bought most of these games around 2007-2009 I didn't pay any more than about £10 each.
You sir have the ability to predict the future. Those games you mentioned I’d love to have in the collection. I recently picked up MS Anthology for the ps4 and I love it.

100% it’s a guide but because I go to the car boot sales I’m trying to get the heavy hitters with vouchers. Splatterhouse is the next one and I also have my eye on Afro Samurai for the ps3!!!

I think people see how much CEX sell them for and think that’s how much it’s worth. CeX can sell it for more as it comes with a warranty
Exactly. I’ve asked before to people if they offer a warranty. To than ask them why they are selling something the same price as a shop that does 😂 they can never answer.
No one considers that when trying to sell. I always buy consoles from CEX because of the warranty. Bought my ps4 and series x from them and was happy to pay more for that peace of mind.

I have just seen your video well done mate really enjoyed it. Yea i found out that car boots that they do the same prices as cex so i try bundle games together and try get it down if they aint so bad prices. I love my playstations i got them all except the 5 one. I love the games and my kids are getting involved iswell. I got say i dont pay much on the games i do get them for a steal. I buy more on ebay than anything really try not go into cex if i can help it find they are to expensive. Was a good video mate keep it up loved watching it. Those games you got off your mate are awesome games you got play wet wicked game

I find eBay is best place to get games I got some really good deals on there. Yea I check your other videos out cheers
Playstation 2 games are crazy and I never find what I want haha, there's definitely a few heavy hitting games I want to add to the collection. Some awesome games to add to your collection dude. Great video 👍

I'm shocked to see those price increases on PS2. The Saboteur is an absoulte class game, defo check it out!

One game definitely worth highlighting on PS2 is dragonball Budokai 3 recently dropped from £12 to £6. Any DBZ game that cheap is worth a pick up because as soon as a new game or movie comes up the prices rocket!

Hi there, you are asking about old games to be revamped, I used to play a western based game called " Gun" on the ps2, it was addictive, lots of scenarios to play, it was the forerunner to Red Dead Redemption. Regarding Saboteur, well worth playing , lots of shooting, blowing up, another game which needs revamping, just for the record, I during my gaming stated off on the Vic20 up graded to 16bit, then came the Commodor64, my daughters used this one for their exams, then came Atari 500 again upgraded to 1meg, then came The Amiga, again upgraded to 1meg ,Rocket Rangeŕ got played a lot. Then we came onto the PlayStations 1,2,3,4, you may ask why so many consoles, all down to having daughters, then grandchildren. Keep posting.
Hey Jim. My first console in the 80s was one that required tapes. Think it was a commodore. I then got an nes, before the big one Sega Megadrive. We than had ps1, 2 and dream cast and than I became an adolescent and misses ps3/360 until I was an adult. I than started collecting before Covid and got a switch. I than had to sell my collection before starting this channel and getting it all back.

Wipeout for ps1 has shot up in price. I sold mine for about £3.50 ten years ago. Worth £30-40 now. Bought Silent Hill and Resident Evil Directors Cut for £25 a few years ago. Got some money back there.
I sold this also right at the beginning of this CZcams channel. I forget how much for now. But it was 30-40 probably under &20

I would like to see what games you can get for a 10er or even 20. You could get yourself a good start to a collection on 20 quid. The ps2 is my favourite console no updates just put a game in and play.
I just had a look on the CEX app and it’s not a lot lol. I could probably get some decent titles like xtreme g 3 but that may be it. It’s mostly sport titles or the eye toy games. But I’m always up for a challenge lol

Ps3 games get them before they go up.. I been collecting since early 2000s ... sold my neo geo collection few years ago 20 grand... I paid max 5 for it all... get in early put them in your attic. Sell 10 15years later ... that's the formula

I remember when collecting was all about the nostalgia, memories, joy of playing the games etc - all I see now (in the main) is videos going on about 'what my collection is worth', 'what this game is worth', 'I made all this money from games at the car boots' etc etc etc. I see your pinned comment (and I understand that not everyone is the same). What a shame collecting has become (for SOME people).
It’s nostalgia for me first, but if I can pick up some games that if I ever needed to for a rainy day sell to support my family. I’d do it in a heart beat.
I am grateful for all the support comments and if people send gifts. I’m super thankful.

i have started collecting for my ps2 this year & i got most of the fifa games yesterday all for 50p but games them selves none work all from cex also lol
None of the games from CEX work? Wow I’d take them back. I’m going to add some games but only heavy hitters to the ps2 collection. I recently got metal slug and I’m in love with this game.
I’ve set myself a CEX challenge to get a PS5 for a decent bit cheaper than they sell boxed ones for £410. I’m trading in PS2 consoles buying cheap ones of market place and eBay. Traded 1 in so far £66 voucher got another 5. 3 slims and 2 fats 😂. Best deal I got on marketplace was a fat and slim plus 40 games for £60. Only one set of cables though. Also recently bought all 4 simpsons games for the PS2 😁

As i've said, you are very welcome for the gift box. I didn't get round to putting a note in. Although it did cross my mind. Hey ho. Make sure you give Aliens Vs Pred a playthrough whilst you have it. Yeah ps2 is deffo heading down the ps1 pricing avenue, especialy licensed and Ps2 exclusives...which I believe there are still a few that only exist on that platform. Why not set yourself a ps2/ps3 challenge. Just avoid the fodder unless its for a case swap...50p pro evo is worth the price just for that. A spare case. Not being a sports fan an all. I think 1 of each is plenty...but each to their own right.
CEX now have a bit on the app for ps2 rarities which I’ve not seen before. This is where all the big hitters are. Have you seen some of the prices. Ludacris

@@retrosmashtv No rush at all buddy. I can't justify prices of some ps2 titles. An that's why emulation is a solid way forward for the older systems. Even with original hardware you can dump physical discs onto an hdd. (PS2 that is) and it works royally.

I’m defiently going to get this from a car boot or charity shop £5 for this game just seems too much. But it is a classic. It’s one of the main reasons I did this video

I've got the PS2 fat edition with the Joytech flip up screen.
With 100's of games.
I also have an Xbox 360 with the Joytech screen .
Again with 100's of games.
And finally an Xbox one S
Also with the G-Story flip up screen.
And you've guessed it 100's of games.
And not forgetting an original NES with a handful of games.
A Sega Mega Drive and a few games.
An original PSP with about 20 games.
And last of all a Gameboy Advance SP with a few games.

i got a pink slim ps2 in cash converters for £25.
That’s a decent price to be fair for a pink one. Did it have the controllers too? I do find some cash converters prices vary. The ones in my area stick to CEX prices.

It’s probably metal slug 4 at the moment but GTA San Andreas and Burnout are up there too. I need to invest in the console before making a judgement

To be honest Cex are getting it right with AAA developer/publishers taking the mick with their prices and in game transactions people are starting to look to the past for their gaming itch where always online micro transactions and the fact a digital download could be removed from your online game account never existed.
Yeah, it won’t be long before pathetic ps3 and Xbox 360 gets closed and than it’s game on for the prices
I’m not a fan of digital solely because I forget I own them.

It wasn’t much more for sure. Someone was selling it for &3 at the car boot and I turned my nose up should have bought it
Prices might be going up. But that's at a snails pace for the majority of ps2 games. Most are still wvry resonably priced. Pick them up because you want to play them buying as an Investments is a pointless waste of time. Looking at games such as rule of Roses or michigen disaster report from hell paints an unrealistic trend as thise games are rare and pretty much already peaked. That's not to say I won't pay up (to a certain degree) on some games. But they have to have sentimental value to me. I have no history with a lot of the high ticket price games. And the ones I do I already own and didn't pick them up at their current market price so have no Intention of selling them. The last thing i wa t to se is another artificial madket inflation that we saw kixking in just prior ro lockdown and then peak at its height. Those only exist dor a minority of non gamers who eant to use hype to shidt a lot of stock as fast as possible before it crashes again
Ps1 games are going down, they just reduced in prices again today. So ps2 will probably drop again later.

Id be cautious on getting GTA games on PS2 as the newer gen consoles have already had remakes made for those games so they wont rise too high (Compared to non-remade games). Id say the same for Metal Gear and Silent Hill as soon as the remakes drop late this year / early next year.
So you think Silent hill will drop on price. Shattered memories is a ridiculous price at the moment. I’m not that much into horror games so I’ve resisted. But interesting none the less.
I have the gta remastered games both gta 5 and trilogy. I love a remastered game!
@@retrosmashtv Silent Hill 2 remake is released late this year, so that will drop prices, Konami are intending on doing remakes in the same fashion as Capcom have for Resident Evil. I am already seeing Metal Gear games being traded in to CEX since they announced the remakes of that franchise.

CEX is way overpriced compared to other marketplaces. Usually only get good value on higher end games then buy the rest on eBay or Vinted.
That’s what I usually do. But I’ve started spending my own real money on Vinted because it’s so good. CEX vouchers are being spent on games that are higher and rarer. I have some games on my list that will be making it’s way to my possession in the very near future
Max payne 1 was £2.50 not that long ago 😬🙄i slept on getting a few titles that have jumped on a bit! Tekken 5 was £12 for ages now £15. I dunno why they do an automatic +£3 price hike on so many games. Toy story 2 on ps1 was £12... now 15. Dragon ball Z ultimate battle 22 was 12.. now £15😂😢😢
Does seem to go up in £3 doesn’t it. That was my point on max Payne. &2.50 not so long ago. It’s one I’ll be looking out for at the car boot sales. Can’t justify £5 for it from CEX when there are so many in the wild.
I bought NFS underground 2 for £10 at CEX a few months ago and thats gone up £2

My kids take the p mate. So I’m so conscious of it. I think it’s the CZcamsrs curse. But if you check some other videos you might enjoy. I do different types of videos but fairly consistent. Some might say it’s under rated 😂 but seriously check some out. If it’s not for you all good 👊🏻

Some really good games their under defeat is a amazing
