Star Citizen when it works is the most beautiful and immersive game i have ever played. Patience is key when plating this game and a lot of the haters lack patience.
Well, it's kind of starting to truly look like an actual game now. It's always been "cool tech" and such, but not everyone had the mindset or patience to deal with the bugs and lack of "real" content to play. 3.23 has a lot of that finally complete; though certainly not all.
Shroud is right. I would never support an alpha software that has such a gross monetization scheme. The only kind of monetization I accept in a game I am playing, is cosmetics only. And only once the game is no longer in alpha or beta or early access, but "gone gold" as they used to say back in the day.
What kind of monetization are you talking about? I've been playing about a year now and have a sizeable fleet, and only spent the initial $20. Almost everything you might want can be bought with in-game money.
@@PedroGarzaT Ships can be bought with real money immediately so you get an advantage over other players right away since it takes a long time to acquire large ships with a lot of cargo space for other players. And the game is still in alpha. For me that's unacceptable.
SC with all of its features provides the freedom to do whatever you want. There is organic game on the fly mixed with WTF moments that make you think to solve a problems. its probably because the game is finally becoming a game. Been playing it for like 8 years now, I don't blame people for waiting until now to get in. Everyone? one or two "big" streamers dip their toes in and one seems to enjoy it for the most part.. Other than that.. what has actually changed? Shroud tried and said "ask me again when this gets stable".. Overall, the average COD/PUBG player really has no business being in SC, the FPS gameplay will never be a match and in general the game is way to slow for these "jump around everywhere" kind of players.
All I can say is after six years of playing SC reminds me more of my relationship with my abusive ex wife than a game. She lied all the time about when she would get shi^ done and took my money and gave me nothing in return as well. Its just a hot mess. And I believe Thor over at Pirate Software said it best a few months ago when he stated the only content they seem really driven to deliver is whats going in the store. Spending 20 minutes in a time sink just to get to your ship and kit it out only to have the server 30k is just not acceptable in todays market. I use to love SC. After the last patch even setting up some new keybinds seemed like too much of an investment for the return you wont get.
08:15 The shields of the ship reduced the damage you provided, its a really good strategy if you have an open cargo bay or something like that in your ship, to shoot whoever is ouside from it, since you're into a BIG advantage.
The thing about "emergent gameplay" is that CIG has utterly failed to incentivise it in any way, when it would be a joke to do so. For example: disable buying fuel at landing pads--now SUDDENLY everyone will be willing to pay for players to fly out and refuel them, players will start flying starfarers and harvesting fuel from crusader--there will be extortion, piracy, and trading of fuel all originating from players. Simple example. The only time there was ever naturally "emergent" gameplay was when a bug made the original jumptown ultra-lucrative and players found it on their own and started exploiting it, now CIG has made it into a curated event and it is no longer emergent. They are TERRIBLE at creating incentives for the playerbase to work towards a goal without defaulting to shitty railroading.
While I like the attention some of these "Big Name Streamers" are bringing to Star Citizen, I do not like feeling that they are Johnny Come Latelies that are infringing on all the hard hours put in by actual Star Citizen content creators over many years.
Maybe they just weren’t very interesting to keep a massive fan base around? Maybe it’s because SC content gets super dry once you realize you’re just repeating the same stupid mundane tasks no matter what system you’re in, and the ones that still make content now focused more towards “news and updates” or the good ol clickbait titles for speculative jpeg info or they start doing a variety stream where they have to play other games because they run out of “new” ideas for videos
Another great video. Again it is the legend. Also i am loving the new EVA. Still would love mag boots to go with it but still a much better system overall
Well, the vision is brilliant. The current state is still... "varying" :D (Before possible preaching comes, been a backer since 2015. Seen the huge positive leaps. Still tho, often annoying bugs etc)
I agree about the bugs Unknown . And to be honest when ever i try to show off the game to friends it usually lets me down . but for the forty quid i payed for it 7 years ago ive had my moneys worth , and i still think it will become the game we want. Soon🤣
The irony of Shroud saying people who enjoy old school emergent gaming have been brainwashed when it's people like him who have been so. No quick play, no glowing objectives, actual immersion. This is how gaming started, it's you who have been brainwashed kiddo.
I’m thinking the no speed gauge on the pulse is on purpose. It’s probably more to be used in atmosphere as just a fast way to move from point A to point B
because its got the potential to be one of the best games ever created , but its taking so long to develop and the marketing around the ships at $1k up to $100k microtransactions are quite frankly insane
It makes you wonder, if they were much cheaper, would they sell more ships? Which would ruin a lot more players reason to play. Not sure where the balance would be, considering the microtransactions are what is funding this project. Unlike corpo investors, and we can see how that is going. Who would have ever thought Pong would become so advanced and popular it would make investors wealthy.
Your style reminds me of voidy vids, and Voidy vids is heavily inspired by modest pelican which i find funny. Im glad to see this game slowly becoming main stream
I just started playing this game recently and it's either you have any amount of patience or you just hate the game lmao. I think im gonna be a long time player cause nothing compares to this game, not even close and it's not even done yet
been into SC for a while but gosh this was really good and funny, also you sound like Dave Jewitt from gamespot who frequently covers weapons in games with Jonathan Ferguson the keeper of firearms and artillery at the royal armouries museum in the UK
Why doesn't Shroud like it? It has all the qualities his name creates. So many bugs. High fidelity. Realistic and immersive. On-going development, forever. Unparalleled freedom. Diverse Experiences
A combination of free fly week, Tarkov and some other games losing a lot of players very quickly, and a rising confidence in the project and quality of update. None of this means that CIG is above criticism, they do often need it in fact, and there are certainly several things I think they should take off the storefront, but even for all there’s left to do, you don’t make as much game (and spend the money paying so many developers and getting a proper studio for them to work in) as has been made by being either a scam or incompetent. I am excited, and critical. I am hopeful, and critical.
3.22 was more stable and a lot more enjoyable than the new patch, yes you have quality of life features, but they don’t matter if you have to deal with game breaking bugs
Ngl love the game but most of my friends whove tried during freefly just get sick of how many features look added but arent. Like food makers, suit closets, some keybinds (like holding your helmet) say they work but dont. Theyre fine with most of the stuff but really CIG needs to add some of this stuff (it doesnt take much work to make a drink dispenser work they already have one on the 300 series.
It's a tough one man, you either love it/get it or you just don't. At least, for now. But you can't really blame anyone for not instantly gravitating towards it. It's got a steep learning curve.
People are playing because it’s free fly. Game is getting better but it’s still missing the fun factor for me and I expect once the free fly is over people will leave
Oh I actually got baited by the title. I was hoping for some in-depth explanation as to why the game was gaining popularity. It's just because Summit tried it. I backed the game in 2014 and would love to see my $60 investment actually pay off sometime in the next decade. But I'm not going to touch the bug-riddled mess of an alpha. I will wait until beta, if that ever actually happens.
yes. what is best is that nothing prevents devs from just saying tomorrow : "yep, its done". and go live in saudi arabia or somewhere where you dont pay taxes.
This game is a bug ridden mess, with terrible design choices (like the UI or "master mode"), horrible performance thanks to the poor coding and stupid decisions like making every bottle a physical object, and tech that is already becoming outdated. The only reason so many people play this now is free flight and the streamers / youtubers presenting the game as something much better than it really is.

(Before possible preaching comes, been a backer since 2015.
Soon🤣
I won’t lie the recent rework of weapons has been super nice
Shroud doesn't like it because you can't aimbot yet.....
JesseKazam, DeadlySlob, StankRat_ are playing it as well
Your style reminds me of voidy vids, and Voidy vids is heavily inspired by modest pelican which i find funny. Im glad to see this game slowly becoming main stream
I just started playing this game recently and it's either you have any amount of patience or you just hate the game lmao. I think im gonna be a long time player cause nothing compares to this game, not even close and it's not even done yet
4:58 "Scooty-Puff Junior SUUUUUCKSSSSS!"
been into SC for a while but gosh this was really good and funny, also you sound like Dave Jewitt from gamespot who frequently covers weapons in games with Jonathan Ferguson the keeper of firearms and artillery at the royal armouries museum in the UK
That's so weird since I know Dave personally, though been a long time since I saw him last. He's a good dude and big 40K fan!
@@DTOXTV heh small world, awesome, and yeah his like for 40k comes out on gamespot a bit too
just watching the critters yeet up into space after getting shot on the ground was hilarious
Why doesn't Shroud like it? It has all the qualities his name creates. So many bugs. High fidelity. Realistic and immersive. On-going development, forever. Unparalleled freedom. Diverse Experiences
All I can say about the Pulse is... You shoulda used a Dragonfly
Was he protected by the ships shields if you was useing lazer you would not of shot him but if ballistics would of gone through the shields.
you got yourself a new sub with that cod line
remember kids always retract landing gear and make sure your in nav flight mode so you dont end up moving at a crawl like the guy in video lol
Honestly surprised the tigersclaw worked in the commarray for you. been bugged for me for months with no fix in sight.
3.22 was more stable and a lot more enjoyable than the new patch, yes you have quality of life features, but they don’t matter if you have to deal with game breaking bugs
This channel is underrated
Ngl love the game but most of my friends whove tried during freefly just get sick of how many features look added but arent. Like food makers, suit closets, some keybinds (like holding your helmet) say they work but dont. Theyre fine with most of the stuff but really CIG needs to add some of this stuff (it doesnt take much work to make a drink dispenser work they already have one on the 300 series.
It's a tough one man, you either love it/get it or you just don't. At least, for now. But you can't really blame anyone for not instantly gravitating towards it. It's got a steep learning curve.
The biggest Problem is that there is no persistance with the game in general.
I got to play the patch for 1 day. invalid location id. 2 Reinstalls, 2 character resets, any and all troubleshooting futile. No join button. :(
Reset your location cache on your pc
Legit didnt know the game had been available all this time. Only seen players here and there thinking they were test players whatnot.
this game will separate the men from the little boys
i wanna get a turtle for my reclaimer as i just find it cute and hes got googly eyes
Be cool if it would move around the ship. You be looking for it for days.
speaking of nomad, anyone else cant enter missile operator mode?
I don't want these toxic players in my game !
Would be playing the game if my monitor would not have been broken now I have to wait 4 weeks or 5 before getting a new one
3.23 is awesome, still can’t find anyone who wants to play through all the bugs tho
Long time SC cultist here bro!! Your vids are beautifully cut and super interesting, you got a sub
Haven't met too many cult members who are self-aware enough to joke about themselves. Salute! and Godspeed!
I love it - But for me it was Tuesday. LOL. Epic reference.
The moment shroud booted SC up I said this is not the game for him 😂😂😂
Same 😅
Wait the Ghost Hallow tower booted up the machines for you!?
what is the title starting at 3:37..?
suites perfectly to the story
People are playing because it’s free fly. Game is getting better but it’s still missing the fun factor for me and I expect once the free fly is over people will leave
Oh I actually got baited by the title.
I was hoping for some in-depth explanation as to why the game was gaining popularity. It's just because Summit tried it.
I backed the game in 2014 and would love to see my $60 investment actually pay off sometime in the next decade. But I'm not going to touch the bug-riddled mess of an alpha.
I will wait until beta, if that ever actually happens.
iv tried to play the game but even with a 4080 i can run it over 20fps so I'm honestly surprised whenever a star citizen vid pops up on my feed
cuz u need cpu and ram, you can get to 40+ with a 2060 lol
You're having issues than.
My 4070 is doing 50 and up at 4K on very high settings.
Every content creator shows the same bunker missions with the NPCs not participating in combat.
I think I will still wait for the game to come OUT of Alpha before I start playing.
Subscribed.Good shit.
Because it's currently free to play 🗿
what hardware do you need to achieve 4k60 in game these days?
NASA Super Computer man.
who's shroud? i only know DTOX. thanks for the tip on the kopion nest xp!
No problemo buddy, godspeed with your extinction attempts!
Great vid, b-roll and commentary but the background jazz music kills it 💀 pls change 🙏
If only I didn’t get a 30k infinite loading screen and could play the update
Shroud just does not get the fact that it is an ALPHA and not a complete game. Delulu imo.
yes.
what is best is that nothing prevents devs from just saying tomorrow : "yep, its done".
and go live in saudi arabia or somewhere where you dont pay taxes.
