- 4x400 relay, 2019, Tx State Track Meet, Houston Strake Jesuit, Matthew Boling 44.75 sec anchor leg.
1st leg - Pittenger 48.11
2nd leg - Campbell 47.97
3rd leg - Trahan 49.74
4th leg - Boling 44.74 (200 split 21.21)
These times are from me running a manual stop watch as I rewatched this video.
What a performance. 44.75 split is just epic
Thanks for posting this! An excellent recording of what was an absolutely EPIC final! What he couldn't overcome in the 4x100, he did here in the 4x400! Strake's next great star Malik Cambell ran the 2nd leg in this race, and he's just a sophomore!
Didn't know he was a sophomore. Bolings 200 split was a 21 something.
@@cruzthird Yes he is ... I went to HS with his Dad and Uncle ... both prolific in their own right. Very cerebral kid, and lots of top end speed, though he only ran on the relays this year. My guess is he transitions to the open 200/400 and relays next year.
Can you explain to people outside the USA what a sophomore is.
@@georgesutton9556 IThe term "Sophomore" refers to your second year in High School, of which here in the United States, there are four such years you must complete satisfactorily, to graduate. Your Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior year (years 1, 2, 3, and 4). High School is the level of secondary education that precedes College or University studies.
bwilli34 Thanks for the explanation, 👍I've been watching all of Matt's videos, hope to see him at the Olympics, cheers from Australia.
He should be running the open 4 at Georgia now, his talent is off the charts
He could be a great decathlete with some of the performances he has done already.
Imagine Matthew Boling ran for desoto...... they would probobky get a 3:08
First one with a an exceptional comment.💪🤛👌
Was going to post the same thing.
Chris Ford, the anchor leg for DeSoto, ran a 47.770. Boling's official time listed with UIL was 44.743
My brother manually time them in in the video it shows a pedestrian 45.52. We know that was wrong. And he got his autograph on his stat sheet on the 100 meter listing.
cruzthird 45.5 pedestrian?
@@inwoodboy1937 HeHe, it was more of a tongue-in-cheek saying than anything else compared to his actual 44.743.
Great alternate video
Just wow! This kid's got a bright future!
Shame on Texas University Recruiters....for allowing Boling to be signed by Georgia!!!
U of H too. His hometown. They have Carl Lewis as assistant coach and head coach Leroy Burrell.
Great recording!!! Finally one that lasted longer than 3:10:56
Thx
Look at those times.
He got BURNERS!! LOL
Brings back memories my Senior year walk down Flint Northern to Beat Beecher Anthony Bowie
The entire Strake Jesuit team was awesome. Not just Matt the entire team.
Holy cow is right!
Leg 3 for SJ should give his medal back, he got completely smoked. MB saved his butt.
The other anchor probably ran around 47 which is still a very good HS time. He got beat by the one guy on the planet who can run a 44 in HS. Both teams had unreal good 4x4 teams.
lowkey feel so bad for the guy he passed
that is impressive. His best event
4:39 - I just realized: the guy on the lower left in the black track suit and blue hat is the one talking on the PA system with the microphone
Now that's how you run a quarter
Wow
White king! W
Announcer: Clearly says 44.75
Cletus in the stands: Uh, I thunk it wuz 44 78 or sumfin'.
lol.
Final handoff 2:40
Ik they fast but why DeSoto run like dat?
That third runner for Jesuit ran 59.67.
No, do the math. He ran below 50 sec. No way they get that time with him running a 1 min split. Why would you make that comment? I can understand if you accidentally typed in a 5 instead of a 4. That's the only thing that makes sense in your comment. And if that's the case, I know I'm not accurate on the 10th & 100th's of a second.
@@cruzthird I'm kidding. I was being a d!ck. I'm sure he ran close to 50 which is really slow compared to all these kids running 47 and Boling running 44, but is a very decent high school time.
@@thomasmckenzie4584 lol
That white boy can RUN!!!!!!!!!!!
Is Boling staring at the clock or at the Desoto runner at the finish? I can't tell if he is just looking at the time or if there is a rivalry and he is looking back to gloat?
either way, he wouldnt be the 1st.....i say fair is fair when you can back it up! LOL Boling is something special, i say let him enjoy the limelight!
@@cbnboy34 I'm just curious if there was trash talking between the teams before hand.
I was just trying to figure out the same thing! IMO, he's looking at the runner! The clock was immediately to his left. He didn't have to look back to see the clock. He stared him down, too. If you go to the end, the anchor leg refused to shake his hand...
I heard he looked back to see how the teams placed in order for them to win it all.
He was thinking about his team placement in the overall meet.
I ran track in jr high, high school and college. It's seldom like other sports where rivals gloat. My guess is Boling instinctually was looking back to see where the rest of the pack was.
How did he get away from University of Houston. Carl Lewis what happened? Burell should of been all over him.
He wanted to leave Texas and Georgia has produced great decathlon athletes and Olympians.
He committed to Georgia as a junior and 400m runner. He only started running sprints his senior year.
I been trying to figure out this as well how the heck he get to Georgia 🤦🏽♂️
Umm...the school is Strake Jesuit, not Strait.
Thank you. I never know when my dyslexia will kick in.
