- A Police chief constable is under investigation for wearing a Falklands combat medal - even though he was 15 during the war.
Nick Adderley, 57, faces allegations he is a fantasist after repeatedly sporting the South Atlantic Medal.
It is understood that Northamptonshire Police’s top cop enlisted in the Royal Navy in 1984, two years after the Argentina conflict.
The police watchdog is investigating following a complaint. Mr Adderley could face a gross misconduct board and dismissal.
Former First Sea Lord Admiral Lord West, awarded a Distinguished Service Cross for bravery in the Falklands, said: “It’s very unfortunate when someone wears a medal they are not entitled to.

He is a liar, he has been telling people for years he served in the Falklands war. Liar liar
He never thought someone would notice.
as a Falkland islander i find it disgraceful that he would pretend to be a hero, the fact he is a police chief amazes me
Oh good grief.....
Ex squaddie here. He could have worn the medal on the right side no problem. He should have known that.
My Dad who actually did go to war held people like this in such contempt 😊
and so he should.
it is frowned upon esp by veterans , if genuine in family all has to do is get seperated and wear opposite side , nothing wrong wearing family medals just wear them correctly
A Police officer who's a fantasist? No way......!
Stolen valor, fire his keister
All corrupt
It makes me sick and angry when I see most of those who wear medals. ONLY those who have performed some exceptional act of bravery or selflessness should wear medals.
-- Well, many/most "medals" are just for being at a particular place at a particular time. That's said, if he wasn't there he should wear the ribbon/medal.
Define selflessness
So long as they're not claiming they earned the medal and are wearing it to represent a family member who was awarded the medal, I have no issues with it. I wear my grandads 1939-1945 star every year during remembrance day in his honour. No service man or woman has ever taken issue with it.
I agree that people should only wear medals that they have earned, but not all medals are for acts of bravery or selflessness. There are medals for service, like the one my dad got for 2 years national service in Malaya (as it was called back then). He earned it for his 2 years of service, didn't do anything 'heroic' that I know of, but if he had have done then he would have also been awarded a medal of higher prestige.
@@GilmerJohn * shouldn't
Just goes to prove the calibre of people who are getting promoted to the top jobs. He's a disgrace to the uniform. But don't worry, if he's asked to stand down he will no doubt take his enormous lump sum and extremely substantial pension. Sad individual.
I knew Nick when he ran a pub in the Wirral. He told me that he was the SAS guy who abseiled onto the embassy balcony and freed all the hostages.
Don't sack him, think of the million pound settlement, and early pension payments.
This video may very well prove stolen valor. Stop the investigation once it is verified, he didn't earn these 2 medals and ask the chief to resign and prosecute accordingly.
"Stolen Valor" is a yank concept, has no legal basis in the UK at this point in time, however there are official regulations that cover this tomfoolery.
Career over bud! Let's get this piece of excrement out of the force.
He has just been suspended. What a Walter Mitty. With his simpering smile in photographs while wearing other people's medals as if they are his own. Some people have no shame.
THIS IS THE CHAP THAT THREATENED TO SEARCH SHOPPING BAGS DURING LOCKDOWN
WELL, WELL, WELL, WHAT HAVE WE HERE THEN? CHARGE HIM AS SOON AS POSSIBLE 👿
how about a police probe into the UNELECTED SQUATTER in Number Ten???
ANOTHER COP THAT THINKS HE IS THE LAW ,
Jail him if found guilty if evidence proves he is guilty and if family served then whatever the protocol is decided on that .
Too harsh.
@@vipeton.8927 when you find out all the other vile stuff this man is involved in then you might change your views on that.....
Unbelievable!!!
This is unacceptable and he should be made to explain... When I was sent to the Falklands whilst serving in the RAF, I can tell you that it was a very hostile environment and I'm not just talking about the "Argies".
Penguins?
Sheep?
Rock Apes?
@@markhildred2456 Hostile environment in Bastion too, I swear on one visit to the RAF compound, they were, God this is traumatising they were forced to eat the cheap biscuits on the hourly brew up
Their colonies smell of rotten decaying fish... not easy to crawl past, whilst avoiding all the landmines...
I was thinking of wearing my ancestors wooden gladius he was awarded when he won his freedom in the colloseum 🤔🤣
you can.... just don't forget to wear it on your right breast, not your left like this clown :)
So what else has he lied about during his career, another bent copper.
Family wear others medals on other side 😂silly man
A disgrace to his uniform.
it is likely to be the medal of a close relative who may have sadly passed away. I lot of ex service personnel have died since the conflict. It is acceptable to wear this award on the right side separate for any other awards to indicate that you are not the recipient of the honour but respecting the bravery and service of your relative.
You are correct. 👍🏼 However, he was NOT and should be punished. He should, or does know better !😡
And which side is he wearing it?
He’s wearing it on the awarded side along with other medals. Medals awarded to relatives are worn on the right. He would have absolutely known this. He is a Walt.
@@Captain.Crispy Yeah, I think he likely knows it should be on the right, and it probably is that of a relative, as I don't think he would be stupid enough to have just bought it and pinned it on. But, when he needs to make an excuse to save his neck, he'll say he didn't know it should be on the right, or that his wife pinned it on the wrong side!
By the way, are you a genuine Captain, Mr Crispy, Sir, or are you yourself walting? Just having a joke with you mate, or Sir (if you are a genuine Captain 🤣)
It was also on their website that he'd served in the Falklands, which has since been removed.
Imagine being 57, in such a HIGH station of office already, and being this unbelievably insecure to the point that you need to go this far. It's almost impossible to believe this could even be possible
Always something going on
Considering the way that the uniformed royals have gone about with their stage gear, Adderley’s medal wearing is not out of the ordinary. Although I can see it from a veteran’s point of view.
Well another bent police officer
Please explain your comment?
@@Simonsimon-fy3hqit’s quite self explanatory. Cops are humans, the institution has many failings thus cannot be trusted.
Stolen valor
One point: valour, with a 'u', is the English spelling; 'valor' is the Americanism. xx
@@pussypostlethwaitsaeronaut8503 doesn't make any fucking difference
As a civvie, this type of behaviour makes me upset. You only wear medals if you have actually served and earned them. It really discredits men and women who should get the full support that they never ask for, but every one of them so deserve. As for this person, i hope that he sleeps soundly ?.
Maybe it's a 'Let's not forget them' tribute, maybe to honour a family member. It seems to be fairly common. Whether he should wear it at work is another question. I don't condemn him for it though.
Calm down love. The medals awarded to a deceased service/ex-service person may be worn on the right breast by a near relative.
A real wrongen this one liar .
He will probably say, but i watched it every day on tv:)

All of us who lost relatives serving in britains conflicts .. this is a direct insult...
We've all lost relatives serving in British conflicts, you might be ridiculously over-sensitive, but not the exception....🙄

Lose it you troll skm
I thought police chiefs had to be clever? 🤔
Yes rather than throwing stones, first ask him what is the significance of the medal.
Lets also ask him why when interviewed he bullshitted that he served in The Falklands War as well, that is a lot harder to lie his way out of as an error "sorry I did not realise that I could only claim credit for wars that I actually took part in and not wars I daydreamed victories of, I have since taken professional medical advice and been told to only recount instances that actually happened. This is a deeply personal matter so I will not be commenting further."
looks like a cheating crim

But then again, it's not why we took the shilling, is it?
Does this mean i have to give back all my clone wars medals
Good show that. Much better than the new movies. The original trilogy and the clone wars animated are the best 👌

Good! So he should be.
Great dog 👍👍👍👍
C’mon man. Smh
It’s the only time I give a damn about stolen valor, when it’s in an official capacity. I served 9 years but always thought stolen valor almost always ends up being more about the accuser who confronted them being the asshole instead of the accused. Displaying military memorabilia or a uniform sometimes could be chalked up to pride for a family member or even some form of mental illness. I believe that in most case the accuser is wrong and should mind their own business and quit being uniform cops.
Though this case seems to be different. If these allegations are true then this official is a disgrace and should be treated that way.
Valour, with a 'u', is the English spelling; 'valor' is the Americanism. xx
Ex squaddie here, I totally agree with you. So called stolen valour seems to be a bigger thing in the USA than it is here. I remember an autistic guy over there was brought to tears by a couple of serving arseholes just for wearing a marine uniform with no insignia.
@@pussypostlethwaitsaeronaut8503 I’m American.

I’ve got a watch that was made in the 12th century. Wear it daily keeps excellent time. Ohhh yeeaahhhh.
I don't know why the hell that made me laugh, but it did. 🤣
Why hold an inquiry? He is a SENIOR POLICE OFFICER who has been caught red handed. He must be dismissed with immediate effect so that he does NOT benefit from a pension at great public expense. He should be placed before a Court of Law following a very short examination of the facts and formulation of charges relevant to his offence, and hopefully receive a custodial sentence.
No doubt one of ‘tame’ free mason Solicitors will be will to act pro bono, I can guarantee he will already have reported sick with undue stress of being exposed, how through out his police career he always received outstanding reports (they have to say t(at because the incompetent that promoted him did not undertake due diligence).
I suspect he served in the TA, if so he will be claiming PTSD after a particularly cold weekend on Salisbury plain when it was snowing.
This man, correction pathetic Walter Mitty LIAR, Is an utter disgrace to the uniform he now wears and to the memory of those REAL MEN, true warriors, who fought and died including this who were wounded and those fortunate to return home.
I salute them.
Thanks Karen....
HELMET
Wrong maybe but I wear medals from family members who have served and died on certain occasions despite never having served myself (diabetic not allowed)
The medals awarded to a deceased service/ex-service person may be worn on the right breast by a near relative.
People blag there way into jobs
Maybe his late father went to the Falkland war and he’s wearing the medals. In the ANZAC march in Australia you often see children wearing grandfathers or great grandfathers medals as a mark of respect and to keep the memories of those that sacrificed for our freedom we have today.
again even so he has no right to sport it among his awards, there are clear regulations laid down for the wear of official awards he is just walting.
He may not have done anything wrong.
I have heard that some family members can wear medals of lost loved ones in war as you see lots of widows march all over the country on November 11th. Also, some children do so that ties with him being 15.
Also him wearing that medal with his others. Maybe he is still honouring his loved ones, and if asked permission from the powers that he had done, nothing wrong.
A guy in work still wears his dad's medal every November 11 as he lost his dad at a young age and marches with a photo of his dad .
In such cases medals HAVE to be worn on the right hand side.
@@fasthracing thanks for the information 🙏

He gave numerous interviews to the media going all the way back to 2013 claiming to have fought in The Falklands so this is just all BS and fantasy, lying his way out of this now he has been exposed.
En algún momento les tocará salir de las islas Malvinas. La época de la Colonia terminó hace más de 50 años.
Silly boy. Who is being colonised? Not the people who live there. Nor any Argentinians, whose country didn't exist at the time the British claimed the islands. Perhaps Argentina is colonising its country from the people who were living there before Argentina was founded
Mordaunt lent out the gong
Nick Adderley has brought Northamptonshire Police up to the standard of a superb place to work and be a Police Officer and very sadly these allegations have been made by a sadly disgraced and self inflicted PCC (Police and Crime Commissioner) who decided to appoint a totally inappropriate person to a Senior Role in the Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service who had absolutely zero operational experience or knowledge and resigned shortly afterwards.
Do you have any actual evidence to level at Mold? Its well known he put the ex wife up to making the complaint indicating he knew all about this and looked the other way until now, being able to prove this would be very useful.

If it was indeed a relatives it should be worn on the right.
lol you
even if it was his families medals he should be able to wear em if he bought it from a shop or whatever then no fair enough
It's not his family medal and there is protocol for wearing 'family' medals!

its a family medal guys
Not when it's worn on the left breast. That's where you wear medals that you earned yourself.
What right does he have to wear the medals of his family members? What purpose does it serve? What virtue is he upholding?
@@Rampart.X medals earned by family members can be worn on the right breast. This is usually reserved for special events such as ANZAC Day, Remembrance Day, and similar days of remembrance in other countries. It pays respect to family members who served in various conflicts.
In this case he's wearing it on the left breast which signifies that he earned the medal, and that's what the fuss is about.
@@Munromad yes, wearing the medals in a way that clearly shows that it is for remembrance and only on occasions for remembrance. Any other use is a grift.
If it’s his Father’s then he has every right to wear it, yet again the media condemns someone before all the facts are in
Not on the left hand side
Only medals awarded to him can be worn on the left side, if it is his father's then it has to be on the right, and he would have known this. So it looks like you are the one leaping in to condemn, before all the facts are in. I take your point though, that the media is quick to judge, but not on this occasion.
