Having owned a 2007 Super Duke 990, it kinda makes me sad they didnt go for reviving and improving the LC8 Vtwin 990 for this modern chassis. Mine had 40k miles on it when I sold it in 2022 and it never gave me an issue outside of a water pump seal at 36k.
I love KTM's and have owned a few, but I'm not going to buy another until there's clear evidence they have much better quality control and real improvements customer support.
About to start watching, I really hope you mentioned the camshaft failures on the 790 and 890 platform. KTM has yet to address this, thousands of bikes with premature cam wear. I would hope that good reviewers would hold their feet to the fire.
@@timmyzhou1 It's not about long-term testing. It's about known problems that have not been fixed yet on the previous platform and may very well indicate their unwillingness to fix problems with the current platform.
@@timmyzhou1 The 890 is the predecessor to the bike that he is reviewing. Of course it's important to point out flaws in the old model, especially if they were never addressed.
Maybe I'm just getting old, but my 2016 1290 superduke makes me happy. All the new models just aren't convincing me I'll have more fun if I swapped out.
Yeah, I think that unless your bikes just takes a shit and it costs to much to justify fixing it or you crash it, than maybe I’d get a new ktm. I have a 390 duke now and have really been wanting a 790 duke, but for what I’d pay for even a used one with low miles on marketplace, I could get something like a Suzuki sv650 or a used Ducati hypermotard witch I’d really love lol
Nice review. Thank you. As someone with a lot of experience both street riding and a decade of competition racing, yet never ridden the 890 or 1290’s, what would you compare the new 990 to from another manufacturer? As this will be helpful apart from actually riding it.
Personally I would have liked it if KTM held back a little and showed that they fixed all the problems and reliability issues with the 890 lineup, before putting all their energy into making a new bike. Head light looks better than previous, though. They could’ have stopped there.
How are the handling compares to the 890 Duke R or the 1390? You kept mentioned it is a miniature Super Duke but there is no comparison to neither bike except stiffer yet lighter chassis.
Boy it looks amazing!!! But all you guys talking about cam failures and oil leaks....idk now...a 13k scared to ride it garage queen is not what im looking for!
@@thepassionofthegoose5472 every brand have it's problems. Even had a Fireblade with crankshaft issues. So i just enjoy my bike, when he breaks down, i repair it and ride on🤷♂️
I know that orange is KTM’s colour and I like orange. But why not sell the bike with an option without that specific colour. I’d guess that you’d sell 15-20% more bikes! The new 990 Duke would look awesome in black with gold accents 🤙🏾
Call it how you want it but its way too much money for what it is . New mt09 is much much cheaper offering better engine better reliability plus more electronics as standard
This sounds like an upgrade over the Duke 890, which I had considered "all the motorcycle I would ever want". Well, if my feet could touch the ground. I'm a shorty.
No thanks, I'll be sticking with my 890 Duke R. A really good looking machine with the Akrapovic silencer and I can't begin to approach its limits on the street. The supreme hooligan bike.
Have you owned or ridden one? They’re fun bikes. I’ve owned two with some problems but not bad (never stranded). The fun factor makes them worth it to me.
@@chriswest2290 understandable, I would just suggest to have an open mind. When I was younger, I used to buy tires for everything based on longevity as the most important factor. Let’s hope it has 96% less oil leaks
I've no personal experience with KTMs. I'm just here to recognize good funny.

V2 990 Lc 8 Superduke are the best motors✊🔥
Euro emission wouldn't let them continu with a v-twin, that is the main reason we so much paralel twins these days,

Love your vids guys! But can we cool it with the music sound level? Also something less intense. Its a review, not a spy movie.

The headlight will be a one-year design. Two years tops.
Looks much better than the old one and that they moreless stuck to for almost a decade
890R over this all day. They are priced real cheap at dealers, pick one up while you can.
Where are 890R’s sitting on the showroom, especially for less than MSRP?
North East. Dealers in NJ and NY selling them for $10,999
It look like a ktm 790 scalpel but buff 💪🏻. Nice upgrade ❤. Congrats Ktm🥰👍.
Now make it SMT
Not a good looking bike way to expensive especially with the tech pack for a standard model 😢

Where do they get the percentage values? This machine is ugly and I question the horsepower claim.
So far every new KTM dynoed has been higher on power than any other brand claiming the same HP.
