I went solo bike packing in the Trossachs National Park in Scotland. I followed National Cycle Network route 7 and the lochs and glens route. The plan was to packraft over to one of the islands in Loch Lomond for a wild camp, but the weather had different ideas!

I'm so fortunate to have this as a local ride from my door...

Inversnaid to Rowerdenan is doable on a MTB but wouldn’t be pleasant especially loaded. There’s a good CZcams video from a guy that did the whole thing both ways and there’s plenty lifting of bikes over rocks. Rowendenan round to Balloch is fine and good coffee and food places etc. Lots of folk take the waterbus across from Inversnaid to Tarbet and cycle either north or south. Though the path from Tarbet to Balloch is nice enough you can get another ferry across again from Luss to Balmaha but then again you could pack raft. There are deer on sone of the islands and they go for a swim as does one of the farmers with her horse.
There’s also the Three Lochs route you can do from Balloch which is pretty nice.
Monday was gorgeous if cold first thing but what a contrast Tuesday was and you did the sensible thing. Love sone of the wee wild camp spots around Loch Achray especially when the bluebells are out.
Loving the new logo noticed it right away.

That’s really helpful thanks Michele! Looks like I avoided a bit of a nightmare with all that rain 😂 I think I’ll do the ferry next time though. Thanks for your help!

Hi there, great video once again👍 I spent my youth walking, kayaking and biking around the area so i’m very familiar with the area. With regards to the section from Inversnaid to Rowardennan it is definitely hike a bike and would be definitely harder with kit. You could however get a visitor ferry over to Tarbet and cycle down to Balloch via the cycle route but does run mostly along the side of the road. 👍

Thank you that’s very helpful. Does the ferry still run from Inversnaid? Couldn’t seem to find out if it had been scrapped or not as someone told me.

@@Cycling366you can use cruise loch lomond as a water taxi, however I noted that they have increased their prices.

+1 avoid the WHW along Loch Lomond.
Not sure if you know, but that long trail by the big loch is a part of the Badger Divide.

Great shame you missed out on the ride around Loch Katrine as it is a car free ride on the east side. From the research I have done on the east side of Loch Lomond, there is some hike a bike south of Inversnaid, and it is better to ride the forestry track rather than the WHW once you get down to Rowchoish. Riding the WHW is on my bucket list but I’m seriously considering going up the west side of Loch Lomond, where there is a good cycle path as far as Tarbet, rather than push the bike up the east side. Then again I’m not a hike a bike fan! 🤨. I’ve been to the Trossachs quite a bit and it is fantastic, so I do recommend you return and experience it in better conditions. Great video as always, Thanks for sharing.

Great film. Maybe a bit less drone and a bit more POV of the terrain.
