All of the musicians are crossing over today and for a while...I remember late 80s and early 90s as a kid seeing plenty of musicians on TV in shows and movies and even when we look back into shows and film from the 70s you see musical artists
Been looking for this show for 10 years.I remember watching this since 4th grade when it debuted on 13 NBC. And as classic repeats on BET in the mid-late 90s. Like to have it on DVD someday.
I am learning a lot from these shows Doug.E Dough,Duane Martin,Wendy Robinson,Brady Norwood,Morris Chestnut,Singer Patti and Other good actors before they became legends
Hey guys, speaking of Fresh Prince and Out All Night, here's a fact for ya: Patti LaBelle who plays Chelsea Paige is older than all the cast members of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and here's a sad, but true fact: Patti LaBelle has outlived Uncle Phil himself James Avery aka Shredder Patti was born in 1944, Daphne Maxwell Reid & Joseph Marcell were both born in 1948 and James Avery was born in 1945 died in 2013
@@geneviasims7617 Yeah, before he moved into bigger things...it was Morris Chestnut who got his big break into television when he made guest appearances on "Freddy's Nightmares" for two years on syndication from 1988 to 1990 and continues to appear in several projects.
Show was great. Booking all the musical talent is probably what caused it to end. That probably ate a lot of the show budget. I wish it would have lasted longer though.
Warren Littlefield was over NBC Entertainment at the time and yes, the show didn't last long due to time changes Started off on Saturday Night, then moved to Thursday Night and the final nail in the coffin was going on Friday Night against another comedy with an all black cast in Family Matters
I remember watching this on NTA Lagos Nigeria. I always felt sorry for the white dude, they kept telling him to go back to England. Would they be allowed to do that today?
This show was a spin off of fresh prince same producers and writers. Low TV ratings throughout the shows run killed it. Saturday night tv was a tough time slot to have when people were watching tv more on Thursdays and friday nights in the 90s
The problem was that after The Cosby Show and The Golden Girls ended, Saturday Night wasn't a powerhouse anymore and Thursday Night, it was up against The Simpson (which I find absurd) and Friday Nights, it was up against Family Matters A Different World going up against Martin and Out All Night going up against Family Matters is what caused both NBC shows to be cancelled Jasmine Guy stated that she didn't like the idea of having 2 sitcoms with all black cast against each other Plus, the L.A. Riots had a lot to do with it as well, I mean hey, it worked with Fresh Prince and Black Sitcoms like Fresh Prince, Hangin' with Mr. Cooper, Family Matters, Martin and the sketch comedy In Living Color were still going strong
It was probably an expensive show to produce. Some of the acts hadn't reached their peak yet, but were still very popular then. Cost of booking celebrity music guest every week was probably too much for the budget. Great show while it lasted though.
@@whcchw I've been listening to the podcast about the TV show Scrubs, and have learned that licensing music is very expensive. So expensive that music gets changed when shows go into syndication, bcoz music is only licensed for the original release of the episode.
