The SNES version is much stronger in terms of keeping to the story.
I think between this version and the SNES version, I like the Genesis version a little more than the SNES version for a couple reasons. 1) The Genie shooting Iago while dressed as a referee looking at a stopwatch, that was by far one of the funniest things I've EVER seen in the intro (of sorts) of a game and it always cracked me up seeing it, 2) the fat guard's pants can randomly fall down and he'll look at them in shock while gasping, be it from hitting his throwing knife back at him, camel spit or chucking an apple at him, that also always cracked me up whenever it happened, 3) there were a few more bonus levels as well as bonus levels featuring Aladdin's little Monkey-in-Crime Abu and 4) it has more songs from the movie itself. Does this mean the SNES version is worse? Nope, if anything I see them as equally good though the SNES version has one good thing over the Genesis version and that is that its easier, the carpet escape stage is a bitch to get through but its definitely easier than its Genesis counterpart where if the boulders flying by so much as tap Aladdin's head, its instant death, and the screen is going so fast that you are barely able to react in time to avoid said instant death.
These 16-Bit area graphics really aged well compared to N64, PSX graphics. Actually nowadays I prefer to play a sidescroller like this one in stead of a pixelated or blurry 3D game from the late 90's.

This and Jungle Book were my favourite games as a little kid. I remember bouncing back the daggers from those dagger throwing enemies thinking that was pro tactics. Took me a long time to beat the lava level but when I finally did, I beat the whole game. Good times.
I just finished this game on Megadrive. First time I ever finish it and in fact I knew this from the PC version but never reached so far years ago. This longplay also helped me at few difficult points at the end.
I swear I just got hit with a bowling ball of nostalgia... I grew up playing this game back in the 90s and I still play it today on my genesis. Was great to see this game done and it greatly brought back memories.
Mathew Sullivan Ehh.. I know this version... though I haven't directly played on Genesis... there's a port of the genesis game for MS-DOS, that's the version I used to play with. Had bugfixes and such, but introduced new bugs as well and lacked some features here and there...
Wow I only played the SNES version of Aladdin when I was younger because I never owned a Sega Genesis and I haven’t even seen this version but this actually looks better than the SNES version
But it plays worse... Its a much harder game. That isn't necessarily a bad thing. But the level design is a small catastrophe in the Genesis version. And the boss battle against Dschafar/Snake, no one can take this serious. The SNES version is miles ahead of it. Is it cool to have a sword? Yes. But that alone, doesn't save the game.
Man, me and my sister spent so much time on this game when we were kids. Great memories. This guy actually missed two secrets in the desert level. If he'd stopped at the clothes line with the Mickey Mouse ears on it at 7:13 and turned around and ran back to the start of the level, there'd be a free one up sitting there. Also, if he'd stopped at the pillar with Goofy's face on it at 8:42, held the up button, and then jumped, it would have teleported him up into a secret area ;)
Holy crap, I haven't played this game in FOREVER!! It was the third game I had ever played. The firsts being The Lion King and Sonic 2. Sega was the shit back then!
There's a hidden extra life in the desert level. Just go up to the clothesline with the mouse ears on it and move to the spot where Aladdin appears to be wearing them, when he leans forward, and it'll appear.
The soundtrack, colour pallete and graphics still hold up pretty well from being a genesis game. And look at all the butter smooth animations.

Ah! You're gonna love this guy!
Prince Ali - fabulous he - Ali Ababwa
Genuflect, show some respect:
Down on one knee.
Now try your best to stay calm,
Brush off your sunday salaam,
Then come and meet his spectacular coterie!
Prince Ali - mighty is he - Ali Ababwa
Strong as ten regular men definitely
He faced the galloping hordes!
A hundred bad guys with swords!
Who sent those goons to their lords?
Why- Prince Ali!
He's got seventy-five golden camels
Don't they look lovely June?
Purple peacocks he's got fifty-three!
Fabulous Harry, I love the feathers.
When it comes to exotic type mammals...
Has he gotta zoo-
I'm tellin' you!
It's a world class menagerie!
Prince Ali - handsome as he - Ali Ababwa
That physique! How can I speak? Weak at the knee...
Well get on out in that square
Adjust your veil and prepare
To gawk and grovel and stare at Prince Ali!
*At same time as verse above*
There's no question this Ali's alluring- Never ordinary never boring-
Everything about the man just plain impresses...
He's a winner- He's a wiz- a wonder!
He's about to pull my heart asunder,
And I absolutely love the way he dresses!
He's got ninety-five white Persian monkeys
He's got the monkeys!
Lets see the monkeys!
And to view them he charges no fee!
He's generous! So generous!
He's got slaves, he's got servants and flunkies..
Proud to work for him-
They bow to his whim-
Love serving him!
They're just lousy with loyalty
To Ali!
Prince Ali!
Prince Ali - amorous he - Ali Ababwa!
Heard your princess was a sight lovely to see.
And that good people is why-
He got dolled up and dropped by!
With sixty elephants
Llamas galore
With his bears and lions
A brass band and more!
With forty fakirs, his cooks and bakers
And birds that warble on key!
Make way!
For Prince Ali!
You're welcome.

Boy RickyC,your a good player! You finished the game on the HARD level, that was awesome!
This and Jungle Book were my favourite games as a little kid. I remember bouncing back the daggers from those dagger throwing enemies thinking that was pro tactics.
Took me a long time to beat the lava level but when I finally did, I beat the whole game. Good times.
Y Jorge quedó re contento. Imaginate, por fin supo cómo terminaba el juego de Aladdin
This was great! Oh those good old days...
0:01 Oh my Disney! That was rather morbid, but funny, when Genie straight up shot Iago out of the sky! Lol 😂
nice music, beautiful animations, solid gameplay, you can tell this game is the foundation of their next masterpiece: Earthworm Jim!
Apples for show, knives for a pro.
One of the best soundtrack !
so many great memories come back of my father playing this on our sega megadrive
I just finished this game on Megadrive. First time I ever finish it and in fact I knew this from the PC version but never reached so far years ago. This longplay also helped me at few difficult points at the end.
6+ months of my childhood rolled into 45 mins

"HES GOT A SWORD!"
JerrytheBaum "You idiots! We all got swords!"
not aladdin from SNES
@@binarioochentaycinco4791 Screw swords. I went all-in bouncing off their heads.
Halsaufschneider Yeah I’ll admit the boss fight with Jafar definitely changed my opinion... in fact most of the boss battles were lame
Genesis version is better. Much more fluid and balanced.
My favorite game when I was a kid.
-Pero que decepcionante."
Te lo resumo así nomas
no
So many good memories love it
My childhood memories got freshed after seeing this
OMG I LOVED IT :D used to play this so much when i was a kid. me and my sister completed it loads :D best mega drive game
Wow, the Genesis version is totally different from the SNES version.
A great adaptation of the movie to show the actual characters in Disney World.
i never had a mega drive but... this is definitely better than the snes version, man ive missed this one out
Sabastian the crab cameo 16:40
I always laugh at the SEGA logo with Genie and Iago.
Dry balls
RileySkye100 does remind me how Elmer Fudd shoots Daffy Duck

I Love the 90's!!
There's a hidden extra life in the desert level. Just go up to the clothesline with the mouse ears on it and move to the spot where Aladdin appears to be wearing them, when he leans forward, and it'll appear.
This is pretty darn good for a Genesis game. I love Aladdin. Never played this, though.
This is reallly fun to play back in the day
Hidden special Easter egg sighted 16:42 poor Sebastian
On sega, Aladdin is much better than snes.
Sweet play through. Thanks!
A Whole New World.
Best song ever.
