This song was played on "Top 40 radio" every hour for several weeks in the summer of 1986. It was also on heavy rotation on MTV, I remember it very well.
Yeah I remember that time really miss those days đ
I was born in the 90's and have been hearing this song my whole life on the radio.
@@budsilverado4209 Same not complaining, thnx to my mum I grew up to this
Yes, the video in heavy rotation, but not THIS video. This video is bizarre to me. I never even saw it until about two years ago, while the other one is both hard to find on YT (last I searched) and was the video they played constantly (and imo is a much better video than this one). Really strange, unless I'm the only one having this experience (and losing my mind in the process).
I believe it was 1987.
GTA Vice City, a nice car, cruising down the long straight roads along the sea, THIS SONG ... this memory and having heard it in the 80's and loved it just puts a tear to my eye everytime i hear it.
The dreamy airy keyboards and reverb lead guitar help define this 80s classic. Well produced, reminds me of the golden years of MTV.
@Franky Valley true dat after eminem.
I was born in 94, and most of these songs I heard in GTA Vice City when I was about 8 yo. Since then I think 80s was the best time for music ever.
Everybody needs a Lex.... that is all.
Absolutely right!
Exactley đđ» She gets the music and feels it, Brad hmmm well needs to relax & forget about the lyrics
She has a beautiful smile
Where do I get one from?
@@hevydavy From the Lex store.
This is such an 80s song and I just love it! Itâs been used in lots of movies and tv shows. Just a great classic 80s vibe and I donât get tired of hearing this song!
Co-founder and lead guitarist of the band Kevin MacMichael was a good friend of mine. He passed away from lung cancer years ago. A great man and an incredible musician. Thanks for doing this reaction video guys.
đ
Classic!
The PERFECT single ... I hang on every note - of that flanged guitar especially
Lex would of loved being in high school in the mid 80âs. This was big in 1987
Perfect 80s song đ„đ„đ„đ„đ„
"Almost familiar" Hahaha Lex never fails
This power ballad is the debut single by the English pop rock band Cutting Crew, released in July 1986 as a single from their debut studio album, Broadcast. It is the band's biggest hit, peaking at number one in the United States, Canada, Norway, and Finland, and reaching the top five in the UK, South Africa, Sweden, and Switzerland.
Lex looks very PRETTY reacting to this one!!
The production on this classic 80s tune is impeccable. I think it would be a hit instantly if it was released today.
Well truth be told when was the last time you heard a song like this on today's radio?
@@xoxxobob61 I know. There's no place for it out there. Which is sad. And who listens to the radio anymore anyway....
@@djm4457 Understood and I was just commenting on how well the bands in the 80's were very good at writing Songs.
@@xoxxobob61 Indeed they were. Funny how back in the day my Dad said the same thing about how he bemoaned 80s music for not having the quality of his treasured 50s and 60s tunes... the wheel turns I guess.
@@xoxxobob61In my country they still play songs like these, luckily!đ
The catchy sound of 80s Pop music. You think you heard it before even when you don't. The melody gets you immediately.
"I've Been in Love Before" was their other hit song
â„ïžâ„ïžâ„ïžâ„ïžâ„ïžâ„ïžâ„ïžâ„ïžâ„ïžâ„ïž!!!!
@@zombiewanthug3225 Beautiful song.
Yep, absolute classic
Agree!!
Oh my gosh I love love. âCatch my breath, close my eyesââ â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž
This was massive in the 80s! Love this song!
Good review guys!

Always loved this song. Also check out "Broken Wings" by Mr Mister.
Cutting Crew - I've Been in Love Before ... One of my top 20 favorite 80s songs of all time.
Yeah, me too. I can appreciate this song is really good, but I can take it or leave it. I could listen to "Been in Love Before" over and over and not get tired of it - and one or two times when driving in my car, I have done exactly that!
This is one of the best songs to come out of the 80âs. Really shows the sound of the 80âs.
Looking back on this song and other music from this era, which I grew up on, the fact that it was all pre-internet was so perfect. This kind of innocence just isn't coming back.
Well, we gotta take the arts and entertainment back đ
Some Talk Talk would be great 80s music to listen to.
Wife here...Sorry HUGE hit in the eighties..Taking me right back to Cheering and School Dances!!!..Thanks again!!!
Lex nailed it when she said thereâs a lighter side of 80âs music and a darker side. Thereâs a new wave of 80âs music and a dark wave.
Definitely the sound of the 80s
Very romantic song. Remember it well.
God, do I miss the 80's .
I love how Lex just feels it right away!
Y'all may think it sounds familiar if you heard Jay-Z sample it on a mixtape sometime back in the '00s(can't remember the exact year). I don't think it was ever officially released for whatever reason.
I saw Cutting Crew open up for The Bangles at the Berkeley Greek Theater and this sounded amazing live. You could literally feel the drums hitting your chest and the soundscape was incredible.
This was THE school dance song
There is another super hit by The cutting crew it's called I've been in love before. You guys must listen to that song too it's simply a wonderful song too. If you guys enjoyed this one the other song will be a treat too.
WOW!!! LEX LOOKS MAGNIFICENT TODAY!!! Just imagine listening to this love song with a terrific girl like Lex! Brad's a very lucky man!
When does she not look magnificent?
Bruh chill đ
@@jayt4083 It's okay if you like boys instead of girls. We're progressive people here, bruh!
Love this tune. So nostalgic!
They were a good new wave, pop rock group in the '80s (their peak) and '90s with some good songs and videos. Keyboards/synthesizers (which is what Lex was hearing) , cello, and guitars were nice in their songs. This one and "I've been in love before" were huge. "Once for a Mockingbird", "Everything but My Pride" were other good ones.
It sound familiar maybe, because of movies and also GTA video game.
Always makes me think of Fernando on Vice City. It must have been something you said ehh?
Fernando was the best. I always bounce back and forth between Emotion and Flash FM when I'm playing (Wave 103 is great too though lol), but Fernando is the king of Vice City radio for sure.
The 80s were a high point in history. It has been downhill since then. The song I had the time of my life, was on Dirty Dancing with the late Patrick Swayze. This has been on a few movie soundtracks and GTA5 as well. Probably where you heard it. Written in 1986.
Musically, I'd agree. Outside of music, there was a lot of horrible stuff about the 80's.
@@robertreichle1 You mean the fashion, hair, and all around vapidity?
I'm guessing you were between about 14 and 20 years old during that time? Everyone thinks that the years when they were that age were the "Best years for music" - but perhaps you are the exception that proves the rule?
No Auto tune people real musicians real emotions the 80s ruled. The moment this started the feeling came back to a previous time when music was Atmospheric and poetic creating an everlasting sound that stands the test of time.
:-D and people who were your age in the 80s said that the synth kings of the 1980s were not playing real music cos they were relying on synthetic sounds. I guess every generation resists change.
6:55 that totally makes me think of musicals when you have two characters singing songs and they overlap. Very specifically Iâm thinking of My Eyes from Dr Horribleâs Sing-Along Blog where Penny and Dr Horrible are singing about their problems at the same time.
High school MTV flashback
Hard to believe they are English, i totally thought they were American, very pop-rock American sounding, only found out the were English bout 2 years ago.
Y'all make me smile so much đđđđđđ
Lex looks more smoking than usual â€
This 80s jam and Honeymoon Suiteâs NewGirl takes me back.
I love the Guitar work. Always present and smooth. đđž
this song takes me back to my first love.... waiting waiting waiting for my first kiss to the girl of my dreams...i can picture the exact time the exact spot ...never dies and never goes. i got in went to my bedroom and played this song over and over and over again just to keep feeling that moment i just had and hoping it never goes away....
Love this song. This was staple for me at karaoke back in the day, along with other 80s OHWs.
Can remember dancing with a girl at the disco when this played! Amazing song
The opening to this is so dramatic! Distinctively 80s.
Looking super fine Lex
Very Donna Summers disco diva!
@@dysfunctionalfelines3486 Sort of Thelma Houston/Donna Summer mix and I love it!
This song in in the ether!! It's irresisible and survives, though I can't recall why, I'm sure it's had to be in many movies or adverts? I remember this song, from watching the MTV, imagine that, conspiracy theory?
Lex is a star!! đ„
There's a lot of good memories with this song for me and heartache đ„ș. I love this song â€ïž
Awe....this was me and Tami's song! haha
Dude singing could have for sure played a vampire in a movie.
They were kind of a pop rock group, some say new wave, but to me more pop rock. This was a hit album for them, "I've Been in Love Before" was another hit video/song yall should check out.
They released another album in 1989 and another one in 1992. They kind of just disappeared after that. Not sure why. But, they were pretty good.
Cutting Crew. Another quality British band of the 1980s. Gives a similar vibe to Bryan Adams, Robert Palmer, Go West.. sits alongside the likes of Genesis, Dire Straits, Scritti Politi.. Bryan Ferry.
You're right,I wish I had one.
Lex, dressed to kill... wow!
This song brings back flashbacks for me. One of my favorite 80's songs.
I wish I could jump back in time to the 80's. I'd have loved it. Listened to Bananarama today. UK 80's girl band, please check them out. Music videos would be best.
I miss the 80s. I took my son to a roller skating rink yesterday. We skated for 5 hours. Brought me back to hanging out at the rink on Friday nights in the small town I lived in.
What people donât realize is the video and the song version that weâre listening to was created a few years ago. Some fourty years after they originally did it. His vocals are still incredible and he looks great too. All of us OG wish we could have it that way, looking and sounding as good as we did in the eighties.
Great song one of those timeless tunes that you always enjoy hearing, IMHO
Love this song and love the dress your wearing Lex,looks like your ready to dance !
The funny thing is there one of many artist in the 80âs that had two versions of a video cutting crew had two songs they made two different videos for the same song you had this one( I like the second version) and another great song called â Iâve been in love before check them out
'86 Winter deep memories (in Australia). But it was on 'Top 40 Hits' radio so long, i have Summer memories too.
Come to think of it, Lex sounds like she's saying that this type of love song is more serious or, more dramatic than others of the 80s.
I commented about this earlier, Lex catching on to the vibe of this song so, yeah, there's more drama than typical of the era
Which is one of the reasons why it's as great today as it was when it first came out. ( think of Mr Mister's Broken Wings).
And senza una Donna, similar sound
I grew up in the 80s and still listen to this from time to time.
Lex has good taste in music, like me. đ đ
love this song for yrs....
One of my all time favourites
I donât remember this music video. MTV actually showed a different video for this song back in the 1980s that was less ambitious but also a bit less cheesy.
God I loved the 80's! What a great decade! I'd love to go back there and do it again.
Dang, Lex, you got dressed up for this reaction! lol
Reminds me of Jr high school dances back then
One of my all time faves. His voice still sounds the same when he sings this
That is soooooo romantic
Me and my cousin would get super baked, and we used to play this game unintentionally, where one of us would sing a random song and the other would try to top it with a more random song... This was one of the first songs and we almost passed out from laughing... LOL...
LEX looks lovely tonight !!!
I remember hearing this song the very first time it came out, my favorite song ever! To bad it wasn't the " official video" . Watch it when you have a chance. Also they're other hit, " I've been in love before", is a must watch
Definitely - it's a better track IMO.
Loooove this song. The instruments. The evocative melody. The sexy misterious feel it gives me
This song has been in a lot of tv and movies. Stranger Things, Hot Tub Time Machine, Never Been Kissed, etc.
Sooo 80âs. Great Reaction.
This song has dozens of metal versions all different artistic takes on the same song. It's fascinating to see what people could do with the basic framework.
I don't know if they just didn't put out much music or they broke up or they just put this album out in the US. They were pretty good though. They had another song that I heard that was really good too. It was called I've Been In Love Before.
I've never seen this video before. The singer looks like someone... Maybe young Kiefer Sutherland?
Lex totally gets it,you go girl
This was written by Cutting Crew lead singer Nick Van Eede, who told Songfacts it was inspired by a real relationship. Says Nick: "Yes, I cannot tell a lie. It's a song written about my girlfriend (who is actually the mother of my daughter). We got back together for one night after a year apart and I guess there were some fireworks but all the time tinged with a feeling of 'should I really be doing this?' Hence the lyric, 'I should have walked away.'
hearing this song always takes me straight back to having it on my walkman back in 86, LOVED it!
one of my favorite rock ballads đđŒđđŒđđŒđđŒ
Legend has it that that brown trench coat he wears is the same one Kyle Reese wears in The Terminator
Thank you GTA Vice City for introducing me to this amazing song. Emotion 98.3 Fernando Martinez bby.
Sorry I'm late to the party! This is as awesome a song now, as it was in the 80s when it first came out!
ETA: Lex totally caught the more serious vibe of this song. She's right, a LOT of love songs from the 80s are more upbeat than this one.
Not all but, a LOT!đđđđđčđč
I really wouldn't consider this a love song. He's singing about having an orgasm.
Lex is such a sunshine hahah, was digging with invisible drums for most of the time
Yes.... what a great song to react too.
đđđđđ
đ” "I've Been In Love Before", although a minor hit, is by far The Cutting Crew's best song. đ”
Great reaction to an 80's soft rock classic, you looking hot as usual lex.
One of my all time top ten favorite songs! Takes me right back to 1986 every time I hear it.
Hey y'all, this was also in the ''Lego Batman Movie'' when Bruce Wayne saw Barbara Gordon......perfect! Great reaction!
Such a great couple. Great reaction đđ»
This was tight 80's had everything we all wanted. I bought my first cassette it was this one.... Nothing else on the whole thing mattered... They absolutely rock this one!!! One Hit Wonder!!!!
This is New Wave music.
