Yea the windows sticking on our 2016 30 ft Signature is a pain , and the door on ours I feel like I’m gonna break it when we close it , best way I’ve found is close it is click it to the first lock and then center of door push firmly to the second lock , about to head to The gulf for two weeks tomorrow She has been good to us so far 😁👍🏼, other than that . We bought ours before Covid about 30% under value and like you said Airstreams literally are sold out across America 🇺🇸 glad we pulled the trigger on one when we did . We don’t regret at all buying ours , Love it and love your channel 👍🏼

I too had issue with the door. Like others went through the “checklist”. What it turned out to be was the pin and the latch were not lined up. The pin was slightly higher. To center it I loosened the pin and drilled out the two rivets holding the back plate (do not take the pin out or the back plate will be lost). I lowered the pin to exactly center on the latch with no stabilizers down. Then, tightened the pin back. I drilled new rivet holes into the back plate using the original holes in the frame. Put the rivets in and voila a perfect close. 20 min fix!

Hey Jeff....just curious, any regrets about going with the rear bed instead of the front bed in your Flying Cloud 25? We're looking at the same trailer and I'm having "discussions" with my significant other about rear bed vs front bed right now...I think RB is the way to go, because I'm thinking it would be better to have the rear bed and sit at the front of the trailer to be able to see what's going on out front...also I think outside noise would be less at night in the back of the trailer. The wife thinks that views from inside National and State Parks would be better from the rear, so she wants the front bed and seating in the rear. What say you?

Hi, one other benefit of the back up camera is if you have a person helping you back in, especially after dark, he can speak to you from the rear of the trailer. The camera will pick up his voice and transmit it to your monitor in the truck. It is one way so he cannot receive communication from the driver.

Great video 👌🏻 thanks 😊. ✌🏻 from Australia 🇦🇺. My partner and I have imported a couple of airstreams. Logistically a nightmare shipping wise, and then they have to be converted from the USA 🇺🇸 110v to 240v, and USA runs more butane in the propane than we do so there can be jetting issues for fridges and hot water and gas burners, but we think they’re great! As long as you treat em right.
Retract awnings in wind or rain like you mentioned, and take a little care when opening or closing things and don’t be too much of a rough moron with em. They’re designed to be light weight so obviously sacrifice some strength whenever you do that. Great video mate 😉

The door should close easily, our 2017 Flying cloud doors closes on it own when swings closed from full open position. The windows open easier after you have used them after awhile. Get the plastic locks that hook over hinge release and the hinges won't release when you don't want them to. See the video on Keep your Day Dream

great and thorough video... we’ve had our FC since 2016 and it also still looks new! yeah there have been a few issues like popped rivets, a little leak in the shower, and weirdly a window exploded when it was parked (not robbed)! but minor really, from our first two trips and all fixed right away. you can get a little tool called a Window Popper for the windows btw! (not related to our window issue - that happened when we first bought the trailer haha)

Way too many issues for the price tag. American companies specialize in taking our money, without reinvesting in better customer service and quality. We dumb Americans keep buying the products still, so no reason for them to change their business model.

    1. Is the outer shell, made of stainless steel or aluminum and are they leak proof at the seems and windows?
    2. How do they tow in the wind?
    3. Is there a generator and solar option for extended boon docking?
    4. Is there a 4 seasons package?
    Thank you

    • @LandingZoneHome
      @LandingZoneHome  Před 3 měsíci

      1. Made of aluminum. 2. Very good, the design makes Airstream to most aerodynamic for towing. 3. Solar yes for minimum solution, after market is for extended solar and generator options, I carry a generator and have videos you can research, look for my Boondockng the Blueridge video. 4. No 4 seasons, they do very good in summer especially with 2 AC units, winter is a challenger for sub-freezing temps but doable down to the teens. Thanks for watching and please subscribe.

In your video, you mentioned the problem with your door. We ended up dropping by Jackson Centered due to a problem with the latch. Our door was not closing correctly. Apparently, latch needs to be lubricant regularly. Also, there was an extra washer in the latch that is problematic. The latch was replaced free of charge along with tips on how to maintain it. Now our door closes easily and with little effort.

My entry door (2018 FC) is similar to yours in that you need to give it a very firm push to close it, the little interior door latches are easy to reattach, I had numerous small issues with screws and bolts coming loose all fixed easily (I am a very handy mechanic). All RV owners will have some occasional problems -- it's part of the experience. Overall my wife and I are happy with our purchase.

Correct, all RV will have occasional problems, but all RV aren’t at the same price tag as Airstreams, who claim to have exceeded standard quality builds, yet has proven to be no different at all. The delusional airstreamers cult is real out here. They’re like the Planet Fitness of RVs. Socialism is valued more than the actual product being sold.🤦🏾‍♂️

I have the exact same year and model airstream and we’ve only had it out 4 times now. Our door was also difficult to shut but it was only when i had the stabilizer jacks down. It turns out I was putting too much weight on the rear stabilizing jack near the door and it was creating some torque on the frame around the door that caused it to bind and become extremely difficult to latch. Once I backed off the load on that rear jack the door easily latched even when swinging shut under its own weight. I wouldn’t have thought the stabilizer jack could put any twist into the frame but it must have something to do with how they are joined to the floor frame. See if it works for you.

Airstreams are cool. My grandpa had one all my life. Now it has a second life with my uncle, who has remodeled it. The reason why I don't have one is the very reason they last so long. I love slides and the room of 5th wheels. I can see the attraction of Air Stream, especially if you do not know how to fix or maintain an RV. I just don't like the narrowness. You pay a lot for a small space.

Hi there! Enjoy you're informative videos, for sure. Residing in New Hampshire, my wife and I have been Airstreaming since 2008, initially in our 2006 Safari 25RB and now in our 2015 Silver Cloud 25FB. Regarding your disconnected upper hinge on your left sink cabinet door, the remedy is simple. It involves a carefully study/inspection of the hinge on the opposite door, where it is attached to its mate. Once you have determined the location of the face plate in relation to the back plate, all you do is come in slightly from the back of the cabinet, hook on the back plate attached to the cabinet frame & snap the face plate in place, in a forward motion towards you. My wife previously had the habit of opening cabinet doors too brusquely and, consequently, would disconnect the hinge(s). I have learned to reattach them without any problems (as she has learned to be less brusque in opening the cabinet doors). Regarding the door, ours works just fine. One important factor to keep in mind is to ensure that the screen door is firmly attached/snapped to the main door prior to closing. This very important for the door to close properly. Like yourself, we love our Airstream and would never buy any other type.

So it is hard to find a durable, light weight, and cheap RV. Airstream comes the closest to fulfilling 2 out of 3. Durable and light weight but not cheap. Airstreams also are considered to have some of the best build quality in the industry and last a long time. They also hold their value well.

So in 2 years it lost around $25,000 in value.....there are a lot of nice 2 year old or newer options for that $25,000 loss.....I am not sold but they sure do look nice. Interior wise there are other trailers out there just as nice if not better but the Airstreams are nice . The question is are they worth close to double other trailers size wise with multiple slides such as Lance , Arctic Fox , Nash 4 season trailers ? That is the one thing I don’t like about the Airstream is the room , there are only so many ways to fill the tube , making it longer just means you walk through more of it . To fix your window seals so they don't stick, clean the seals very well and then treat with this
This is 303 Rubber Seal protectant. It isn't the same stuff as regular 303 vinyl and rubber conditioner.
Your door should close perfectly without a real hard slam. If it doesn't it needs to be adjusted. Usually all that is required is loosening a few key screws, whacking the door jams with a rubber mallet and torquing the door to fit better. It seems like a primitive way to adjust the door. But they are built solid and this is the way they are adjusted at the factory.
Your cabinet hinge is very easy to fix. It just snaps back into place. You sort of slide the back portion into place first and then press down on the front portion to snap back in place. The European hinges are designed that way and are very sturdy. You don't have to worry about those cabinets wearing out.
