    ** Correction, I identified the water pump filter as a back flow or back flush valve, it is not. The device with the clear plastic cap is a filter with a screen mesh which can be cleaned when necessary. Sorry for the mixup but it was pretty dark in there. **

    There has been a lot of furnace fails up here in the northeast with late model Airstreams. I have a 2020 Globetrotter 27 and had furnace problems the last few months. I finally changed the Sail Switch and it’s working fine now.
    I’m reading online lots of people having the same issue and spending lots of money on repair when all it is is the sail switch! 3 minute fix!

  • @mari-bernadetteteneyuque845

    Hello! I wish I had seen this 5 years ago when I bought my AS but, I still got some good info from it. I had a question about the water pump - I am having the issue you mentioned where my fresh water tank gets filled when I'm hooked up to city water. Also, water pump is represurizing quite often, and loudly! Trying to figure out the needed fix.

    • @LandingZoneHome
      @LandingZoneHome  Před 3 lety +1

      I cover all of the troubleshooting tips for water pump issues in my book, link below. Try to remove and clean the strainer, look for a clear plastic piece with a screen inside. Next, you may have a bad back flow valve; this will cause the city water to go directly into the holding tank, Good luck and thanks for watching. The book, My Airstream Mentor: amzn.to/3dHCYuN

    While the converter is a battery charger, when plugged into shore power it actually supplies all of the DC loads in the trailer. The battery essentially acts as a ripple filter in this case.

    • @LandingZoneHome
      @LandingZoneHome  Před 3 lety

      Yes, these modern generation converters don't need a batter to supply 12v to the Airstream. Thanks for watching.

    • @brucefay5126
      @brucefay5126 Před 3 lety +1

      Oh, I think the battery has to be there. My point was that when plugged in, the power for DC loads is not really coming from the battery, but is being supplied by the converter. Converters all produce ripple, and the battery is needed to smooth it out.

    • @Acheron2010
      @Acheron2010 Před 3 lety +1

      Yes, and when it fails, you need to run an external battery charger to maintain power to your rig for lights, fans and other 12V circuits. Have to have the factory replace my converter - cannot reach it where it is on my FC26

  • @T_157-40
    @T_157-40 Před 3 lety +1

    Good job. I like insulating air leaks like with rockwool were the holes are fit wiring. Your thoughts?

    • @LandingZoneHome
      @LandingZoneHome  Před 3 lety +1

      On the outside and underbelly yes, but inside like what you see in the video the openings allow heat down to the holding tanks and is good for winter camping. Not sure what rockwool is but I like copper mesh which protect rodents better than steel wool. Thanks for watching.

    • @LandingZoneHome
      @LandingZoneHome  Před 2 lety

      I've owner other brands and they are all about the same. But I do think Airstream takes the extra effort at assembly and design to enhance quality. And again, all makes and models will have issues, I just feel fewer in the Airstream. Check some of my other videos, I have been very critical on Airstream on certain issues. Thanks you Gerard for watching.

  • @CharlesinGA

    This is the type of video that many people new to RV's need to see.
    Its kinda sad to see that Airstream is using WFCO panels, converters, and inverters. I would have hoped they were using higher quality products. I see you have a 50 amp shore power which is significantly different in some respects than 30 amp which is found in the vast majority of travel trailers. The two green fuses, generally 30 amp, that are found in the converter or fuse panel of units with converters integrated into the power panel, are reverse current fuses and will generally only blow if someone attempts to connect the battery(s) backwards. These fuses will not blow for converter "overloads" or other more normal situations.
