This is probably one of the best action movies of the 2000's. Numerous big name stars. Not to mention it was so elegantly laid out that you weren't able to anticipate the ending. Then the ending gave a shock to everyone, as everyone knows most movies result in good triumphing over evil even though we know the real world doesn't work that way.

Scorsese is my favorite director. I love The raging bull, Godfellas, Casino and The wolf of wall street. But the departed is a little bit different from his other movies. It has much more of a plot, and gets you exited about knowing when and how the informers will be discovered. It has so many great characters. I didnt think much of Wahlberg before this film, but he is great. Nicholson too. Al Pacino has turned down big great roles in both Godfellas and The departed. If i were him i would cry.

It was a dick move to use DiCaprio and Damon in those roles. I spent most of the first time I watched it confused as all hell because I couldn't tell them apart. And the roles were so intertwined I was totally lost until they were on screen together at the end.

I truly believe that stress and problems on creative projects are a good sign. Like seriously most good albums and movies are noted as extremely stressful for the artists. That’s because stress is you continuing on a project despite any problems and truly loving it. If an artist simply gave up after a project got too stressful shows the movie obviously didn’t have the heart that it should have had

I don't get it, how do so many actors keep turning down roles in films made by great directors like Scorcese? Pacino turned it down, Nicholson turned it down initially, Mark Walberg turned it down several times and had to be talked into it. I get when actors are already contractually making other films, but a lot of these times it seems actors genuinely turn down roles in Scorcese films. Makes you wonder how difficult other directors must have it if it's such a struggle even for Scorcese

The reason Nicholson didn't get along with Winstone is because Ray Winstone is a brilliant actor and Nicholson a ham. He's about 40 to fifty years past his prime. Winstone in Nil By Mouth demonstrates some of the best acting I have ever seen.

These videos are just useful background noise. The issue is that the pronunciations of names are all over the place and the still visuals are quite random about when they want to match the voice-over.
