DJI really isn't letting me keep up on these updates so here we go again... Late to the party... Oh well. As long as we're here that's what matters so let's get this test going.
Today, we are in a totally new spot. One we've never flown before and certainly never installed a DJI Fly App Update. We're camping with the Kelshaws this week at Otter Springs Campground in Trenton, Florida with almost no cell signal, so I'm really surprised we were even able to upload this Fly App Update.
Let's fly up the river with both Rose (DJI Mini 2) and Dwight (DJI Mini 4 Pro) and see which one reigns supreme.

Letterman is just a stepping stone to WereTheRoberts. 😂 Good to see that Kelsaw finally made the big time. Cool to see him on the old Letterman clip. And good to know the new app version works. I guess I'll finally update, since it doesn't look like they're bringing back the old voice. Haha.
Hahahaha. Kelshaw did awesome on Letterman. Me, kelshaw and another buddy of ours went on a baseball trip back in 2008 or 9 and we saw 7 games in 6 days all up the east coast. We went to New York and he surprised us with Letterman tickets so we got to go to a taping. It was really cool. On a different note, I still miss the crap out of Martha’s old voice. I turn on Jacks controller (Fly app 1.4.8) sometimes just to listen to her. Hahaha.
I remember that trick the night it aired. How cool.

Back in 2008 kelshaw and I (and another buddy of ours) went on a baseball trip up the east coast and 2 of the games we saw were in NY. He surprised us with some letterman tickets so we got to go to a taping of the show. That was a lot of fun for sure. I don’t remember when he retired but it was pretty close to then I think. Anyway, that was definitely a once in a lifetime experience. Very cool stuff. I guess for kelshaw it was a twice in a lifetime stuff. Lol.
Hey, it's good to see Kevin Kelshaw again. Great job training Fred, and great job, Fred! Very impressive! That was great seeing him on Letterman! Thanks for coming along, Kevin! Yes, I love the larger text on the controller. I don't have to drag out my glasses anymore. I like the cover too, especially since I leave the sticks in. Looks like it might make a good sun shade too. I just ordered one from your link, thanks! I hope it will fit in the case OK. Actually, I traded cases because I like the handle on the Mini 2 case. I wish they'd put one on the Mini 4 case. The shoulder strap just gets in the way. I wish it was removable. I may end up getting a bigger case for Grace & Faith both. All in all, it was a good update, and you & Kristi did your usual great job on the video! I just wish they'd bring Martha back for the voice. the dronies are cool! But I can't find how to do the 360 degree panos sphere. I'll have to check the manual. Fun video Kevin!
Kelshaw is one of a kind and I think he and Fred were excellent on the letterman show. Can you hear the radio voice in kelshaw? Same voice even back then. Lol. The cover for the controller is pretty awesome and it does fit in the case. I changed cases out though cause of course I have too many little accessories now. Shhhh. Don’t tell wife. I miss Martha’s original voice too and sometimes I have dreams that she’s back. Then I wake up and Kristi is staring at me saying, “Who’s Martha?” Once I remind her she seems ok with it. Thanks for watching again, brother. And thanks for answering, TC!!! They added the landing icon several updates ago and it’s only visible on the Mini 4 and the Air 3. That along with the green RTH line are pretty cool features. I don’t know if they could just let all of the drones have that but they just have some reason why it’s limited, eh?

I got one of those covers myself. Not to protect the screen though, to keep the noon sun off my visuals. LOL
Hahaha. The main reason I got the cover was so I could keep the sticks on inside that tiny bag they provide. The sun off my visuals is a bonus! Lol Gary Sumner ordered one of those covers and discovered it didn’t work with his cinematic sticks he uses. That was a bummer. I didn’t even think of that when I was showing off. Lol
Again the DJI Mini 2 is still the better drone for the price. Thanks Kevin. hey my friend, found a disclaimer by DJI which reads, "The completeness, accuracy, and effectiveness of the data are not guaranteed and such should be used for reference only" This is for DJI updates. So maybe or maybe not. Love your sidekick.
Lol that disclaimer says it all, doesn’t it? Nobody wants to take responsibility for anything anymore!!! They do a great job with their products and they should be proud enough to take the responsibility for them but this day in age I understand. I miss the 80s when shows like the letterman show were authentic and we could say what we really think. Lol

Lol so you’re wondering how much damage we can inflict by doing that? Hahaha. I’ll add this to the list, buddy. I know it’s an emergency type shut off thing but I also know it may cause the drone to make some sudden down and sideways movements. We’ll have to check this out. Lol. Thanks for watching as always. Great Video as always. I was wondering if the mini 2 now has remote id and if it was in an update? How do you see other drones id, what program do you use? I figured you could find out for us and let us know.. Again Great video, and God Bless!
Hey, Michael! No the mini 2 doesn’t have remote ID. It wasn’t on the list for the firmware update so I guess if we ever do this stuff for money we’ll have to get a module. Booooo!!!! Regarding seeing other drones, there’s an app called drone scanner that works on android phones from what I’ve heard. I guess it doesn’t work on iPhones too well but I haven’t really looked into it too much so I’m not well versed. Typical. Hahaha.

I have that cover Kevin, and I also remember watching Letterman on a regular basis and saw many "Stupid Pet Tricks." But I don't remember seeing Mr. Kelshaw with his pet. You didn't do the "back and forth and sideways" test with Dwight. He probably feels slighted! I haven't done any of the quick shot stuff with Aerith, no reason why, just lazy I think.
Lol I thought kelshaw did pretty awesome on the Letterman show. I bet you watched his clip back in the day. But I think you’d remember. He’s hard to forget! Hahaha. I always forget to do the up, down, sideways test with Dwight because I have to raise him up to 22 feet for the precision landing. By the time he’s done with his acclimation stuff I forget to do it. Lol. Short attention span I reckon

Awesome!!! I hope it works as good for you as it did for us. I really liked the bigger text font on the 4 pro but I forgot to set it on the Mini 2. I’m fired again. That ft/m thing is really a head scratcher. Something so simple. I know they have to be aware of it.

Sincere apologies for my rambling confusionings; they obviously werked yot agin!. Sigh.
All I meant by my wafflings was that yes indeed I have installed the update (one that hasn't fallen off the palm yet) onto my mobile. Not woken up the drone to test out 'though. Air 2 mavics need more sleep these days. I think due to my lack of attention mine has drifted off into a coma. The update not yet downloaded to my Samsung 8" tablet. Will do that when I wake up my drone.

@@WeretheRoberts It's me who's in a coma. My Air 2 happily lingers in it's case. But I need to get it out and finish the 1.12.8? update. I've done the apps on my mobile and Samsung 8" tablet (that I use with the controller), but not with the drone connected. So will probably have more to do. It will be interesting to see what advantage/impact this new update on the drone.
I'd be cautious waking up the EXO X7; after such a wonderfully refreshing rest. It will probably have super energy and be busting to attack the world at large.
Loved seeing the Kelsaw again. Having said that,, you need to get that pretty wife of your engaged again and get her to do some flying with you. I know this is a male dominated hobby bit I think we need more women out there with us. The more our wives participate and understand the fun we have in the air the more they will support our choices when we need to get a new drone. 👍
Lol yea kelshaw always makes it a lot more fun than going alone on these outings. Kristi makes it fun, too and eventually she’ll be showing up. I think she wants to go on our outing tomorrow to fly so keep your fingers crossed she don’t find something more important to do. Hahahaha. Wife participation is great but your logic could be backwards. If they see what we really do would they be more apt to support our choices to buy new drones? Lol
